there's an even easier and better way... pour some gasoline in the cleaned out cap of a salsa bottle. Then start melting styrofoam of any kind into the gas. You can get a lot in until it is a really jellylike mixture. Then light it. It doesn't have open flame as it is a napalm type liquid but smokes like crazyyyy.
Don't inhale that smoke though, it's toxic. Also I've never seen it make as much smoke as this, it was really windy so it's kinda hard to judge but this smoke bomb made a bunch of smoke.

Right I did that too, but it only worked a couple of times and was much more of a pain than measuring 2 ingredients and cooking em for 3 minutes. This method is guaranteed to work and I never got anywhere near these results with the newspaper.

Nice name, the purpose of this was to be a slow burning smoke bomb which makes smoke as it should. The more kno3 you use the less smoke there is. Your driveway must be made out of jello or something because it won't reach anywhere near as hot as thermite. If you want big explosions and liquid metal use thermite and flash powder bombs. Never use shrapnel or use for nefarious purposes. Safety first.
I haven't found that to be true. It generally looks cooler and more intense but usually lasts only 30 seconds or so. If you haven't done this already, coat the pan you used with the stuff and coat that with aluminum powder/magnesium. Stick a fuse in and run! It will all burn at once and create a huge plume and a giant flash. If you're looking for only smoke I'd suggest my method of flour to slow the burn down.

Basically this is a mix of potassium nitrate and sugar but to see if I could get a better smoke result I added some flour. Without flour it is still pretty damn good, just shorter with more flames/power. I've been lazy but I'll see if I can make a thermite/flashpowder vid. Simple tutorial:
Buy stump remover (granulated, it will say contains potassium nitrate )
Get any sugar ( doesn't matter brown or white ) mix on low heat and stir until it is a liquid. Light within an hour or you need a torch.

I just think what this guy is trying to say is that you CAN make a smoke bomb out of sugar and KNO3. I love mythbusters and everything but as a 2 year Chem E undrgrad, theoretically sugar, KNO3, baking soda smoke bombs are very feasible. Teh mythbuster guys set it at too high of a heat.

The Mythbusters guys have the show because they don't worry about actual science, they're just making a reality show. Histrionics and drama make for good television, actual educational shows don't -- that's why people watch Mythbusters and not PBS.
Although to be fair to Mythbusters, you can't put instructions on how to make something that dangerous on television -- some retard would burn his hand off and they'd get sued. So that's probably why they "busted" the myth.

We made one of these back in High School, but cooked it at too high of a heat and it ignited in the pan. Oops. Several thousand dollars of damage. Be VERY CAREFUL if you try this.
Is there a brand name of stump remover that you use? I had a hell of a time getting ahold of some potassium nitrate, since nobody would sell it to me because I was under 18 at the time.

mix 60% stump and 40% sugar
