I saw one just the green one in this video today, same color, absolutely cherry. It was an total gem. If I had somewhere to keep one, I would have made the guy an offer.
It's disturbing how much this thing wallows and swerves all over the road. The Australian Ford LTD wasn't by nature a sports car, but can still do a lot better than this.
@Mechknight73 Keep in mind that this car was already a beater when I bought it. It cost me $140 in 1985 for both the LTD's so you're looking at a $70 car. It bounced and floated all over the place but was still an absolute riot to drive. It was not legally on the road at the time as it never would have passed a safety check.
Yes, it did wallow, but the swerves were intentional lol. Thanks for the comment.
@StuntingSteamMcQueen I've got a car that's only 2 years younger than this, and every suspension component on it is shot, but it still doesn't do this. You're doing a great impression of an old fashioned American car chase lol
Wow in 1985 You Picked Both up for 140$? haha....I still see a Red 1974 Ford LTD On the road here...I Do Miss where you could Pick these cars up for DIRT Cheap..Now a Beaten up one still running would go for a couple hundred bucks ...in 1985 these cars were Not worth Anything ...Just another Gas guzzling Clunky car...I would Love one though....
@StuntingSteamMcQueen speaking of safety checks, to my understanding you are from ontario, do you guys have much stricter laws in ON canada than compared to the DMV in the U.S., no offence but i think you guys should merge , canada and u.s. is what`s for me america combined, none is complete without the other IMO :) best greetings from germany
@Mechknight73 You should seek out a psychologist to help you cope if something like this actually disturbs you.
Or maybe it's just a typical foreigner finding any reason to make a negative comment about something American as he/she watches a video on an American-invented computer, via the American-invented internet, on American-invented Youtube, about an American-owned car brand Ford.
@Dumblikeyoutu You obviously don't understand humour as it was said tongue in cheek. We all know American cars float down the road like boats in the surf. Even the Australian version of the Ford LTD wasn't exactly razor sharp in handling either. Just laughing at how he's having way too much fun
@triangletrexx lol "The Fall Guy" was one of the greatest television shows of all-time. Heather Thomas ... and a truck that could survive 90' jumps! The engine was moved back 3 feet. Mickey Gilbert did most of those truck jumps.
I love those old boats. Buddy of mine bought an old 79 Buick LeSabre for 200 dollars of some old lady. Green with green interior. Gas wasn't too bad got around 18mpg average. Had a small block in it though.
I rode in one of these once. It was powered by a big old gas guzzling 460 V8. Geez, obviously it didn't have a power problem. I remember that it rode like a magic carpet. Hmmm, appears to handle better than some other cars of its time though. It might be OK. I'd hate to put gas in it though. Try 5-8mpg I bet in town.. lucky to get over 12 on the highway. LOL
Oh man that looks fun! Those old American big-ass cars were fun to drive like that sometimes. Not so fun when you were actually trying to avoid hitting someone though! Even so, I often miss driving a big old 70s or 60s-era American car like that. Miss them like crazy.
This is all we do on dirt roads token drikin trippin Ahhh the good times almost anycar will do a donut in the middle of a dirt road we've done them 70's lincolns just in case you get bored today!
@hokman1 It could be said that Americans accidently invented the sport of drifting just from all those chase scenes with American cars. A light would have come on in someone's head: "cool, we can make a sport out of this!" Point in case; the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard
