I was advised to just sit at a piano and learn by ear and to a degree that's ok, but this is great because when your at a piano you know what sound is going to be heard because you play the chord/notes etc but when you see the notion and rhythms in this software you hear it without any physical connection its a different learning curve plus its great to have when your not near an instrument.
The best way to use EM is to train a little (5-20 min.) everyday, just like you would do with muscles. Remember also to challenge your aural skills in "real-life" situations as often as possible in order to put things into musical context. EarMaster is a companion for your whole musical life, it will help you fine-tune your ear over the years.
Hi! You can go to the EarMaster website and download the free trial version. It lets you try out all the features of the program. After the trial period, you can buy the program if you like, or simply uninstall it if you don't think you will need it.

@SpiralTrance Yes, it is completely latency free on Mac. On Windows, we added a latency compensation tool.
