@DarkShogun16 it might not survive in the wild honestly they can put it in a big tank (hidden) and people throw food at it and then leave and that way no one will get hurt (except the food) and maybe they should stick with working with ONLY the small ones not the biggest ones they have (not to small like i know they r huge but they grow to be differennt sizes)

If humans want to take these animals out of their habitat and raise them for entertainment they should be well aware of the risk it poses. Its like if someone were to take a wolf pup and raise it in their household, they should be aware of the risk it has. I believe the same principle applies here. The whale had a close relationship with the trainer, maybe he wanted to play around with the trainer without knowing that she's a human and thus can't breathe, this goes to the fact that their wearing ( or-ca imitation suits ) :|

They shouldn't have them in captivity... but since its too late for that (seeing as how letting it go into the wild would only give the whale a slow death) what else can they do? obviously the shows are what pays for the whales food. But the whale is also suffering living in the tank, hence the attack. Putting the whale down would be best for everyone including the whale.

The whale that played Willie from the movie was freed after the shooting was done. 3 months later she was found dead in a bay where she was seeking the human interaction she needed. She didnt know how to hunt and she didnt have the immune system for the wild.
It takes years for a single wild born animal recovering for an injury to be readjusted to the wild, and half of those end up stealing from humans anyway. You cant free captive animals without killing them in situations like this.

Love how he says they won't punish the animal. We're not asking for them to "punish," the animal. A lot of us would love for the creature to be released into the wild, though, especially considering he's already killed three people.
We can't BLAME the animal either. He's a wild animal, living in a captivated state. What else should we expect?

if you don't want to die then maybe you shouldn't work with a killer whale, especially one that has killed people before. whether or not it 'should' be in captivity or not is irrelivant, the fact is, it is, and who really cares? if anyone dies again it will be because they love working with whales a little too much to care.
btw, I think sharks are awesome =P not that i would want to see one doing tricks in a paddle pool.

They are saying that we won't punish the animal (which is definitely the right thing to do), but they are still exploiting these animals and risking human lives just for money. Whether it's this killer whale or another killer whale, the potential for something bad is still there. If they truly respected these animals, and human lives, then they wouldn't show them interacting all tingly with human beings.

you know i think..the whale that has killed and killed before..not only is it angry that he cant hunt...and freeing it is not really wise now, after reading whatn happened to poor free willy whale. anyway the other reason why they attcak is once they have become such a huge , there is limited interactions with them in the water and the whale must notice and feel that, he must work out they used to jump in the water with me before..now they dont , probably jealous and anger creeps in

They shouldn't have them in captivity... but since its too late for that (seeing as how letting it go into the wild would only give the whale a slow death) what else can they do? obviously the shows are what pays for the whales food. But the whale is also suffering living in the tank, hence the attack. Putting the whale down would be best for everyone including the whale.

The whale that played Willie from the movie was freed after the shooting was done. 3 months later she was found dead in a bay where she was seeking the human interaction she needed. She didnt know how to hunt and she didnt have the immune system for the wild.
It takes years for a single wild born animal recovering for an injury to be readjusted to the wild, and half of those end up stealing from humans anyway. You cant free captive animals without killing them in situations like this.

Actually, killer whales aren't known to attack humans if they're in the wild... all the attacks on humans have been by whales in these entertainment types of environments. BUT, people working with them obviously still know that even though these animals can be tamed, there is still a possibility of getting hurt.. they're animals after all.

You guys are idiots. It's an animal. It's insincts are to kill things they feel are harming them. It's shouldn't be killed because of it. Just like when a dog attacks its because it feels the need that it has too. However, in some cirumstances the trainers of those animals are to blame. Maybe it is her fault for being too close to the animal while feeding it. Obviously, she shouldn't have gotten close if this whale has already killed two other humans. I understand it is her job, but still...

I know that it has killed 2 other people before, but when you're a whale trainer you know that that's a possibility... when you're the trainer, you can't do your job without getting close to them since you're swimming with them, riding on them etc... She's probably been close to that whal 10000 times before... it's just an unfortunate incident.

Yes, it has killed 3 people now... but it's a show whale, and the trainers know that there is a possibility of an attack. No one is "agreeing with the whale". It is awful that a trainer was killed, but the point is people can't BLAME the whale. The whale didn't choose to be taken from it's natural habitat & used for our entertainment. Animals trainers know that animals have natural instincts, & they know that there is a danger when working with them. So, if an animal attacks, we can't really blame them... they're animals! If we don't want these incidents, we shouldn't have aimal entertainment etc.

I googled it, & the killer whale is the top predator, so I was wrong, but the great white is the 2nd top predator. But anyway, like I said, my point is only that great whites can't be tamed to do shows with humans lol.. killer whales can be though, although their natural instincts clearly still remain.. as we have seen.

I'm glad Seaworld isn't going to have the Orca put down. This animal is far to rare and valuable to do anything like that to. Putting down a dangerous dog is different. There are a lot more dogs than orcas out there.
