Me and my dad were driving and we hit a pothole filled with water and mud. we were injured kind of, but the car was gone. it kind of looked like this.
This was my sisters first car. Perfect size, great gas mileage, and has VW safety. Im sorry but no other cars (mid range priced) I have seen had standard side airbags in 2000 model year cars.
Today I ran a red light at 95 mph I hit a semi head on then was thrown from the car only to get run over by a train then get shit on by a random cow this car saved my life thanks VW!!!!!!!1111!11
@juanic94 u bumbbling retard did u see that video. go look on a corolla crash test for the same year and see how strong the car is. Not to mention the fact that the passenger in the video hit the back of his head on the door. MAN U R A FUCKIN JACKASS
@RockyGNR The both are produced in México. Mexican VW plant is now producing 4th, 5th(i think this will stop soon) and 6th generation of it or MkIV, MkV and MkVI. Really nice car, but it was renamed in europe for marketing purposes.
i hit a truck in my jetta going 10 mph and had to replace my bumper, hood, headlights, radiatormount, intercooler, grill, and my metal support bar in the front!!! these just crumble!
@girblee They're fragile , but i believe they're made this way to ensure a better protection for you.
If they'd be so tough as the old cars, in case of an accident the car might get out without many damage , but you'd be dead inside or seriously injured.
i made an accident with a german vw bora with a speed exceeds 120 km/hr, i hit a pick up car returning back on the highway, so the hit was almost like 140 km/h, and i wasn't wearing ma seat belt , thx god i don't know how but i totally survived from a total loss accident, thx to the airbags and the respectable built car.
it is a very high quality built car although it needs a little maintenance from time to time but it can save u r life, am still saving to buy another one

@JOnTheMILLS Its true this car beast some 2010 models, and some 2005 cars blow out of the water most 2010 models in safety, thats why its better to look for good used cars
A lady ran a red light going around 30-40MPH and I t-boned her going 35-38. It looked a lot like this, except it was offset on the passenger side. The car saved my life.

@Playncooler Indeed. It was actually a trauma nurse lady going to work on a call. Rushing to save someones life, and put another two lives at risk. :P
you Loser, get your Facts right, Mazda 3 is NOT Faster than a jetta/bora, it was much more refined and yes safer, and there was more girls driving mazda's at my school than any other car, i had the only bora
seriously its funny because you obviously havent done any research,
Whatever brotein shake! Mazdaspeed3 way faster than Jetta GLI or VR6 or whatever the hell even faster than R32. Mazda 3, Hoda Civic, especially Si, or R-Type in Europe, both way better than Jetta
um yeh thats because its a differnt class, you compare a mazda MPS or whatever against a normal jetta? haha you tool,
power means nothing, an R32 can beat that mazda around a track easily, and is better than it in every other way APART, form the 6kw extra power it has, but R32 has a better gearbox so therefore would do faster drags than it,
i have you cornered in every way, because you havent researched your cars fool, hahaaha
Actually, the Mazdaspeed3 is fater around a track than the VW R32. The VW DSG transmission actually sux and starts slipping after about 15,000 miles. And only a tool like u would take a DSG over a real manual.
Thats easy, Audi A4 2.0T, Mazda 5 Speed Mazda 3, Porsche 944 Turbo (any year), Subaru WRX, Hell you can even buy a 2000 Benz E55 AMG for that much and CHRUSH IT :-) I stick to my 1st statement. Jetta = BORING
your an idiot, look at all the cars you quoted, obviously way out of the class, your so dumb its so funny, ur basically saying "ohh yeh well my lamborghini is better than your Ford Laser" look at what your saying,
theyre all Turbocharged/bigger engine than the jetta, and no a mazda 3 is not faster than a jetta im sorry, i know what im talking about,
and the audi A4, is basically a jetta with a different body, once again, dont know what ur talkinga bout,
Seems your the fool. All those cars I mentioned are in the same price class or CHEAPER then the boring VWs. You need to do your research before you speak/type. True they are in a better class (that's not hard), but they are ALL in the same price range. Grow up and read before you speak. Now you look really slow.... just like your VW.
well ok, if ur gonna talk about price range and performance, then lets talk about quality and everything else, mazda = cheap japanese rubbish, A4, basically is a jetta, idiot,
and porsche in the same price range? HAA ur seriously an idiot, stop talking mate your embarrassing yourself
Wow you are slower then your VW. Yes I said the same price, Well its more then the Porsche 944 turbo ( you need to read what is typed, not what you want to read) I didnt say all Porsches, I said the 944 Turbo, so get that straight moron. LOL you dont want to go there with quality, The Mazda is built and more reliable then the VW, the A4 out does the VW in every aspect. Before you type again. GOOGLE 944 Turbo for sale. I can back up what I type, sad you cant. you lose just like your VW LMAO
LMAO, find it yourself you simple fool. There are lots of them... You must be slow, or just stupid. Your feble replys bore me. I was hoping you would have a worthy reply. Try better next time. Everyone is laughing at you. I'm starting to feel bad for your mom. Your life is rubbish..
My wife totalled my 2000 vw jetta vr6 at about 45mph. I was amazed my car barely had any sings of damage. Great car if it wasn't for all the mechanical issues I had all time.
Why is it that even with the seatbelt on, the driver's face still comes dangerously close to the steering wheel? If there wasn't an airbag, it seems like the driver would still have facial injuries even if their buckled. This isn't just in response to the Jetta but rather vehicles in general.
The high end Jettas (Boras) have side head airbags as well.
My GLX VR6 would fare quite better than this base model 99.5 Jetta. It has a larger engine, and thus more in the way, as well as a fair better safety rating than the base 2.0l model.
No, thats basicly wrong. A larger engine fills more of the engine bay and hence leaves a smaller crumple zone. Fruthermore a larger engine increases the mass of the car has more impact energy which has to be absorbed.
Also if the engine is riped from its carrier I would rather have a small engine pushing its way into my passenger compartment.
Also, am I the only person who thinks VW made a mistake by going to FWD? They should have just developed water cooled flat fours (not the wasserboxer) and kept them in the back.
Seriously, a flat 4 takes up the same room as a modern spare does, so its much more space efficient to put it under the boot floor and have the spare wheel in the front. Hell, they could have used a mini-style engine+trans and lie it flat under the back seat!
you might be. In a perfect situation like this. This does not simulate a 2 car collision. If you get hit by a heavier car everything changes. I'd like to see this go up against a big sedan, suv, or truck.
In europe (Norway) The old(90's) Was called Vento, the 80's/70's called Jetta. The one from 2003 is Bora , and the new one(2007) is called Jetta. Complicated....
the car in this clip is the bora not the jetta.... i drive this exact same model...so scary to see it crash.......breaks my heart to see the car smashed.....i love my car....
so they stopped manufacturing BOra and replaced it with Jetta,,, or were they in production simultaneously? so they both look exactly the same (except one had bora sign and the other has jetta in the rear view)?
Actually both of them are still being manufactured simultaneously , china still has the vehicle as Bora where other countries have it as Jetta. Just the Chinese Bora has a slightly different look in the back
did VW sold those old bora design rights to china.... thats what i heard from someone......so those chinese Bora u mentioned... are actually manufactured in china?
@firedemon101 no wonder why everyone who drives a bora drives like a dick. But also people who drive jettas and golfs seem to drive like assholes aswell lmfao!
I agree with you, you can buy brand new cars same make-model than the US here in MEXICO, but if you don't buy the equipped versions you may end driving a no-airbag-no-abs model. The culprit is the government though, which doesn't obliges dealers to implent this as a mandatory safety requirement. Hope this changes soon.
The jetta made in mexico not a shitty, mexico made the most jettas in the world, but the accesories depens in the country they export. for example if you buy a jetta in us made in mexico is totally diferent that you buy a jetta in mexico made in mexico, have more confort, safetty, engine performance, paint finishing, etc. The only think they have in commun is the hard and safe body structure.
what has ford ever done to be sure that we dont get injuries sure u might get the odd one or two in a ford look at vw they put most of their thinking into safety like side airbaga e.t.c with vw u will get on tiny pain but never ever get that serious injury that some car makers have that serious injury next time ur choosing a safe car GO VW ONE OF THE SAFEST PICKS.............GO VW their motto "safety comes first always" so consider safe vw keep up the brilliant work vw u will get more people
The vw in China was in the form of joint ventures, and just look up the product line, old versions and new versions are manufactured at the same time. 3rd generation Jetta, Bora, and Sagitar(The latest Jetta) are all sold in show rooms. In 2004, some Polos was exported from China to Southeast Asia and Australia. Parts of Passat was shipped from as well.
Isn't it awful that he dummy's head didn't hit in the head restrainer, but in the side column?? Can you imagine how hurtful would it be in real life...

slicala 2 years ago
ok I am confuse.. please shed some light for me:)
so they stopped manufacturing BOra and replaced it with Jetta,,, or were they in production simultaneously? so they both look exactly the same (except one had bora sign and the other has jetta in the rear view)?
confused...
voyeurbug 2 years ago
Actually both of them are still being manufactured simultaneously , china still has the vehicle as Bora where other countries have it as Jetta. Just the Chinese Bora has a slightly different look in the back
firedemon101 2 years ago

they are good. but the european ones because here in in my country they only bring the shitty mexican jetta with no fucking airbags
felipescalador 2 years ago
my mexican jetta has airbags and ABS, maybe you're buying the entry level version...
they're well built, beetles sold all over the world are produced in PUEBLA mexico you think VW is stupid and not checking the quality?
tuxipopers 2 years ago
That's incredible, even a 1990s Jetta had got an airbag on its steering wheel
cismok 2 years ago
I agree with you, you can buy brand new cars same make-model than the US here in MEXICO, but if you don't buy the equipped versions you may end driving a no-airbag-no-abs model. The culprit is the government though, which doesn't obliges dealers to implent this as a mandatory safety requirement. Hope this changes soon.
tuxipopers 2 years ago
The jetta made in mexico not a shitty, mexico made the most jettas in the world, but the accesories depens in the country they export. for example if you buy a jetta in us made in mexico is totally diferent that you buy a jetta in mexico made in mexico, have more confort, safetty, engine performance, paint finishing, etc. The only think they have in commun is the hard and safe body structure.

chamucocibernetico 2 years ago
what has ford ever done to be sure that we dont get injuries sure u might get the odd one or two in a ford look at vw they put most of their thinking into safety like side airbaga e.t.c with vw u will get on tiny pain but never ever get that serious injury that some car makers have that serious injury next time ur choosing a safe car GO VW ONE OF THE SAFEST PICKS.............GO VW their motto "safety comes first always" so consider safe vw keep up the brilliant work vw u will get more people

How many Jetta have been made in Mexico? I suggest China made most of them, many cities got Jetta as their taxis
cismok 2 years ago
I think they're all made in méxico, as far as a number probably somewhere in the 8 million range.
dietercabral 2 years ago
i know china bought the right to manufacture some old vw models... but they are only manufactured for sale in china only......
i think the lower end mercs are made in malaysia
voyeurbug 2 years ago
The vw in China was in the form of joint ventures, and just look up the product line, old versions and new versions are manufactured at the same time. 3rd generation Jetta, Bora, and Sagitar(The latest Jetta) are all sold in show rooms. In 2004, some Polos was exported from China to Southeast Asia and Australia. Parts of Passat was shipped from as well.

You really dont know much about crumple zones do you;)!
superfast30 2 years ago 4
Well, probably I dont. Though I see that the occupant probably survived ok, if the hit would have been a little harder what would absorb the hit?
viyau 2 years ago
any faster than that and the people inside would have some pretty serious internal injuries so its pointless testing at higher speeds than this.
plusgood15 2 years ago
I guess it is not the worst but it does not look impressive either.

All mk4 Jettas sold in north america have side airbags. Your 03 has additional side airbags that deploy from the roofline.
