  • The above comment is inaccurate. Yes, the customer does the search but Redfin handles offer presentation and negotiating and all the paperwork related to closing. They now also offer home tours (first two are free (two hour each, up to 6 houses), after that it's $250 each taken out from the rebate). They don't pretend to know all the neighborhoods well but they hire local agents to show homes and local experienced agents to handle negotiation. The only do-it-yourself part is the search.

  • It seems redfin transfers all of the liability to the buyers. If the buyer is doing all of the research, all of the legwork, all of the negotiating, why is it that redfin deserves even a portion of the sale. Is that even representation for the buyer. The buyer should just put in the offer themselves and would probably get an even better deal. It just doesn't make sense how redfin can justify charging 1% of the purchase price if they didn't do the work.

  • well from what i know they do help a little bit on the fact that redfin shows you what house is around the area you want and the fact that redfin only ask for one percent the pay because of that but i guess it would save you even more if you do it all your self like making the deal i mean why not right?
