Pound for pound this has got to be the greatest heavy weight jazz band that ever existed. Miles jabs us hard with his left hand all around the ring & then lets tag him & then Trane come into the ring & he pounds us hard against the ropes with his right as Philly Joe & the rhythm section kick our butts all over the ring.
Great rhythm section. Great version of this tune (better than the on Miles recorded with Sonny. Few could swing with the wild abandon of Philly Joe. Its almost like he is swinging and playing in free rhythm simultaneously. Miles always seemed to need another great player in the section to bring out his best playing.
