  • Usually the two deacons accompanying the bishop will wear dalmatics; these guard the bishop at the throne, and are not the deacon and subdeacon of the Mass. The deacon and subdeacon sit in the sedillia with the MC, they're the principal sacred ministers of the Mass.

    If the bishop is not the ordinary of the diocese, then he will say Mass from the faldstool located on the Epistle side. No extra throne-deacons are necessary.

  • Ok Please explain two things here.

    First the title of the series. The Traditional Latin Mass has by definition been around for many many centuries . ..where do you just get 20 years here?

    Second. I have seen many a pontifical Mass with cardinals etc . ..I have never seen non celebrant guards(??) like the two men in black robes here who are guiding the bishop. Are they personal servants or what?
