How to make an OS in Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 : Part 1 : Login System

OS? VB Kiddies just don't know what an OS is, this is not an OS! I'm not trying to be harsh but just stop with this, it wont get you anywhere, it's barely even an emulator, more of a virtual OS, but nonetheless, its designed nicely, and that's a cool login, but to create an OS, you need either knowledge of C# or ASM x86 (Assembly,used to create windows). Just hope I cleared it up for you guys.

if you youst tipe in username it will say that you need to put in a password but if you had put in 123 in the beginning, it doset matter if you wright 123 or 1234 or 9748, it will open up any way!

i think i'd be nice if you really could make an Operating System in Visual Basic problem is it doesn't even make executable extensions i couldn't even take my visual basic program to another computer and and run it :P so i cheated and copied the files i needed to a disk and made it work, another :P but i would never say it is impossible to make an Operating System from Visual Basic it's the developers that determine that so if your a basic programmer don't ever quit thinking the impossible :P

I created a primary partition for the compiled file but my GRUB bootloader doesn't find any bootsectors on that partition. I have really put the exe file compiled by the compiler to the new partition and made sure it was compiled for AMD64.

PLEASE TELL WHY ISNT THIS WORKING?

Yes you should be-able to, but the coding in VB 6 and VB 2008 + can be very different. As this code is very simple it should be the same. I would recommend getting VB 2010 though.

Ok, So far i have EVERY LITTLE DETAIL RIGHT except for the fact that when the ACCOUNTS folder is made in the C drive..its made into a read only file. I want this to be fixed automatically so the user doesnt have to do it manually.

listen, its good you trying to show people how to make an operating system, but if you knew anything about computers you would know that this isnt an operating system, hate to burst your bubble, but this is BASED on windows, EXECUTED by windows, and COMPILED in windows, therefore it is dependent on windows, which means its not an operating system, operating systems are dependent on hardware only

it's a nice tutorial, but saving the source's to a .txt file and distributing them THAT way woulda been a little nicer. I tried to type them all out, etc, i was gonna upload, etc., but then found out that creating a REAL OS takes about 7-12 years, with hard-core coding capabilitys required.
