  • I love your videos!! I find them so helpful but the music is almost too distracting!! AHH!

  • BMT was interesting. Not tough. I can't remember what I packed, but don't pack much because your MTI will take you to the Mini Mall and tell you what (s)he likes for you to keep in your security drawer. Some MTIs like it when you have certain things, just so that it looks nice during inspections (and thus, they look nice during their inspections by the Blue Ropes.) Just make sure that you don't lie about anything to MEPS or else you'll go to the three-one-nine.

  • Do they allow you to bring your kitchen? I'm just wondering where you make all the sandwiches at once you get there...

  • @TheHevquip ur such a tool

  • DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO ENLISTED WOMEN? THEY GET RAPED! DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO COMMISSIONED WOMEN? THEY GOT OGLED! BOTH ARE SEXUAL HARASSMENT (WHICH IS A BIG DEAL IN THE MILITARY AND HAPPENS A LOT!) BUT ONE DOESN'T MESS WITH YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

  • So when do you leave for BMT? Or did you already leave? LOL

  • good luck!

  • take as little as possible travel sized hygene items, disposable razors (even tho you won't have time to shave for 4 weeks ish) 3 changes of clothes. Overall the less they have to go through your bag during the shakedown the better

  • i am leaving may 23rd. if i see you i'll ask for an autograph

  • @cf1822003 hahaha.....I'll be glad to give you one :D I'll probably look way different with my glasses, no make up, and all gross from the Texas heat in the middle of summer! Good luck!

  • when i went i took WAY to much! you buy new stuff when you get there! only take the bare minimum!

  • @motoXcross353 Thanxs! I figure if I don't take enough, I can always get what I need there.

  • BTW I'm in Air transportation and have been in for almost 5 years. You know what base you'll be stationed out of?

  • @titze82 Yeah--but I'm not giving spesifics on my location :/ How do you like Air Transportation??? I haven't actually talked to anyone who does it--just people who know people...I'd love to hear about your experiences with that!

  • Are you going to the airforce reserve? You've said it before but I forgot. Just curious, I plan on enlisting, but I wanted to try the reserve before active duty. Thanks ;D

  • @ILLFateGodMc Yeah--reserves. I've thought of active, but probably not. I want to teach music after I get my masters. Reserves will let me serve in the military like I want--but won't take over my ENTIRE life. Plus the benifits for education are pretty good, too :) I'm way excited to do this! Good luck with everything :)

  • @PixieDollable ahhhhh.... you shoulda went active. :-(

  • dont take to much cas you will barley use anything and you will go shopping for anthing you need when you get there

  • lol my luggage got lost and i was stuck with a super small bag of essentials that Delta gave me. I was stuck wearing a stupid ass thin white tshirt that said Delta on it and forced to shave with a shitty 1 blade disposable. but i was also thankful that my bag wasnt there for the "pickem up, put em down" game.

  • @pizpiz80 hahaha---pretty funny! I've heard of that game--can't wait :D

  • Alright, I'll lay it down for you. Don't bring towels. They have them at your bunk waiting for your glorious first night shower. They give you 4. Bring body wash and shampoo. The two in one works pretty well. Depending on what your T.I.'s policy is, bring a loofa. He may let you keep it, he may not. Black flip flops are a must. If your a person who wants a watch, bring one. Cus the shopette you'll go to periodically charges 30.00 for a 5.00 watch lol. Bring your bank card for sure cus they will

  • Why don't you go OTS and become an officer?

  • @amc2525 probably because OTS is hard to get into and just because you have a 4 year degree doesnt automatically get you in she can always go later anyways

  • @evo08gti yeah---pretty much. I might try to go officer once I get my Masters in a couple of years...we'll see.

  • Okay, if u have a master's degree y the hell would you enlist and not go officer?

  • Note 3. Do not buy or bring over-the-counter medication.

Bring all important docs with you. Birth records, social security card, marriage license, college transcripts, enlistment contract, driver's license.

I am sure you will get the same or similar list. Sorry for the mass of comments but its a lot of stuff to say. Anymore questions for me or females in my dorm area I will be happy an answer. Even replies to my comments.

  • @coolguy208 Thank you so much for all of this info!!!! SOOOO helpful! Can I keep my own glasses, or do I have to wear those stupid looking BCG's? I've heard that they let you keep your own now. Mine are plastic rimmed with plastic lenses. If I have anymore questions I'll be sure to ask you :)

  • @PixieDollable Wow thats news to me if they let you keep your own. I went through in Aug 06 though. I had to wear the BCGs. Granted they are ugly but if everyone else has to wear them then its no biggie, right?

  • Watch(I recommend getting a ironman watch from walmart with alarm. After the first week of training you will want to be ready before 0430), calling card(They let you keep your cell phone now so maybe just a small one just in case), White socks, Stationary supplies. You should bring enough civilan clothes to last about 3 days.

Note 1. Trainees who wear glasses or contacts are required to buy eyeglass straps.

    2. If you are allergic to a certain kind of detergent, you may purchase another brand.

  • Nylons/panty hose (6 WOT)

That was the mandatory items list, this is the optional one: Envelops, Towels(I'm not sure maybe one?), Cotton balls, Spray starch/fabric finish(I wouldn't bring this), Nail Trimming equipment(Def bring I will also add a small set of scissors for clipping strings) Sewing kit (You can buy pretty awesome ones there), Foot powder, Shaving items, Iron(do not bring an iron), Stamps (Def bring), Spandex shorts, (you can buy these there or bring them), Batteries D(flashlight)

  • Shower Shoes (flip-flops and they are a must have if you don't like getting yelled at)

This part I apologize in advance for this, Female Specific Items: Sanitary napkins/tamponds (I bought a ton of sanitary napkins myself when I went to beast because beast is nasty during the summer. I left for basic May 04 2010.) Bras/Sport bras, Hair bands, bobby pins, etc..., Underwear (I don't think they issue females underwear like they do males. I will ask my female friend), Brushes or combs...

  • The packing list has: Laundry Soap(which I didn't end up needing), Ball-Point Pen (It says blue or black but only bring black), Shampoo, Toothbrush, Toothbrush holder(Plastic case to hold your toothbrush, get a square one), Toothpaste, Notebook and paper (you can by this from the bx when you get there but I brought a tiny on so I could write letters), Black shoe polish kit (I used this after the 5th week of training, Walmart has a good kit.) Deodorant (A must have for the first weeks)...

  • Well I took a lot of stuff with me to basic training that I didn't need to. First thing off the top of my head that I took that I didn't really need to were towels. They should give you towels the first night. Don't worry about carrying your bag around for more than a few hours because they lock it up in room when you get your clothes issued to you. Bring all hygiene products and bring enough for about 2 weeks. I do still have my packing list because I keep all my paperwork.
