@classicgamestash I have kind of mixed feelings about it. Much of what's on it really is rubbish, but that very crapness makes it kind of appealing :)
Yes, famicom carts and port exactly. Also i bought famiclone and 300 in 1 cart with exactly these same games here IN the end of eighties. Still have it. They have been flogging the same thing for 30 years ... lol
I newer see Famiclone under the N64 skin . And yes this is just another Famiclone. I think that this cartridge has 62 pin conector. I have Famiclone, is look like reall Famicom.
Hahaha, I have almost the same thing but with an 84 in 1 cart and called "argo". I keep meaning to get a Japaneese famicom cart to see if one would work in it.
I wonder about famicom carts, coz though the hardware is compatible, famicoms are NTSC and this is PAL. Saying that, my PAL Atari 2600 will play NTSC carts on my multi region TV, so who knows?
The games are NES. Maybe cutdown versions, but ripped from actual roms. I had something similar years ago. Remember really old NES games used a tiny amount of memory.
True to form.. the fastest Dig-Dug death I've ever seen. ;p
As for the games themselves, they are indeed actual legit roms shoved wholesale onto a single cartridge, obviously without the permission of the copyright holders. Such cartridges have been around for over 20 years.
Looked over your list of games. Thought I'd give you a rundown of the good ones. Many you won't know until you just play them because they change the names. I have a Famiclone that calls a game SMB3 but its just Donkey Kong.
Mappy - Arcade port for the Famicom, Never released on the NES.
Boom Man - Bomberman
Elevator Action - classic there.
Exerion - good shooter
Gyrodine - Gyrus I'll bet ya.
Gradius - classic
Joust, Kage, Lode Runner, Pooyan ... wow good stuff.
That's quite a surprising little system for being a clone! I'm guessing you showed us mostly the "golden games" though as most (I'm guessing) are probably shit.
Has to be one of the most interesting videos I've seen along with your dragon and acorn computer videos.
I remember seeing something like this at a stand in a mall. It's always these Middle Eastern or Eastern European guys trying to sell them. I stood there looking at it, and he said, "Good quality, yes?" And I said, "No, it looks like a Fisher Price toy. How is that thing even legal?" the guy started yelling at me and telling me to get out of the mall. Then I had to reming him I, in fact, worked at the mall (store uniform on and everything), and actually sold him shoes just the other day.
I can only guess that as the Famicom hardware is now obsolete, provided no actual Nintendo games are on the carts (which they don't seem to be) Nintendo don't worry too much about it.
Yes the actual hardware is no longer under patent, so copycat NESes are perfectly legal. But some of the ones I've seen have had actual NES games on them.
You can't really do a whole lot to stop some guys who make this in a warehouse and sell them out of the back of trucks. I mean, the stands that usually have this are selling a new "bootleg" item the next week. By the time Nintendo found out the stuff would be gone.
I actually really like these clone pirate NOAC systems. They're great to keep beside the desk or tv and just have some quick classic games. The games are pretty good on these. Its a neat system. Thanks for sharing Steve :)
I've never looked on them as legitimate consoles (which really they aren't), or collectors items (unless you specifically collect famiclones) but what this is surprising me by turning out to be, is really good fun to play.
My general (and fairly well known) attitude towards the NES, and hence the Famicom means I really don't know much about these systems and games at all... so all such info is very appreciated :)
Famiclone for sure. That cart is a Famicom multicard bootleg. You could take that Famicom cart and use a FC to NES adapter to play it on your NES. Looks like the bastard child of the N64 and Neo-Geo CDZ.
I've asked him and he said he doesn't really want to do Famiclones, though he may do one on a really wacky Beat 'em up I lent him that had Haggar fighting the Ninja Turtles :D
Oh, it will fit Famicom games into it! I've done it myself. and if you use a honeybee converter you can play NES games on it too.
Ironically, it's slightly better than a Famicom because of the AV ports, but since it's NES on a Chip technology it won't play any hardware enhanced games like CastleVania III, (but that is literally 1% of the entire NES library)
I used to collect Famiclones too! Well still do technically.
Curse you Mr Benway!! Another item you have made me compelled to purchase! :)

Sound is probably a bit wrong because they're 60 Hz Famicom games slowed down for PAL...

Those are definitely the better games on the system.
I spent a couple of hours today working my way through all of the games, and more than half are quite diabolical.
I'm gonna do a separate video showing the more amusingly bad ones :D

I've only played a small handful, other than the ones I showed here, and yeah, some of them looked pretty diabolical.
I need to spend some more time playing with this, and then it may be amusing to do a video of the very worst games on it.

I'm liking it a lot, which is shocking in itself considering my general attitude towards Nintendo, and the NES in particular.
I just goes to show, my bias against the NES is not based on how good or otherwise the games are.

I always wondered how they got away with it, especially with Nintendo being as possessive as they are of their properties.

Thought I'd add that the 'Galaxian' Famicom game never made it to the NES. You are playing a FC game that never made it out of Japan.

wow....that actually looks great!
most of the ones that you played were spot on!
The Star Gate (or Defender II) graphics looked really good compared to some of the other games you showed.
Amazing little system you have there....looks like an N64....but plays older retro game...very cool ^_^

Ah the arcade Action, it's what's known as a "Famiclone" my friend.
They used to advertise them on the high 600 shopping channels on Sky and Pat Sharpe of all people used to promote them!
I got one for Christmas one year, and to my knowledge they were about £30-£40.
Nintendo put their foot down as they were using real NES games on them, hence why later ones got shitty with poorman homebrew titles.

Yup... it's like they say the video is ready and finished processing before it has actually finished processing.
I'd rather wait a few mins longer to watch the thing than have youtube say it's ready when it isn't.
