  • I agree, Absolutly Georgeous. I have a 686 no dash 6" and a dash five 2.5" . My no dash has original wood grips. You'll like wood grips.

I also have stainless Springer 1911.

    Nice guns. Thanks for posting

  • Looks proper dude. I scored a 686-1. Right place at the right time. rubber and original wood grips. Im going to go pick up this cloth right now. Thanks

  • rule of thumb dont point a gun at yourself

  • Good lordy!! that is a fantastic cleaning job you did there; I like the older Smiths with the pin hammer they look sexier..I got a 6" version 686-3 ..named MAXINE(yes!I name my guns)..and her big brother 629-4 BUBBA;and BIG MAMA 460XVR...saving my coin to get a Big Daddy 500...I am a sucker for a wheel gun

  • @copperlocks1 Thanks! Yes that is my mission to try to buy the older models! Built better no locks on them etc! Good luck on the 500!

  • wow zero cylender rings! shoot much? or clean like a mad man?

  • @johnnymagnum357 Like i said there were bad cylinder marks, that cleaning cloth took it all off with ease!!

  • 3 people thought a bullet was going to jump out of their screen.

  • real nice gun you got there.

  • brasso !!!!! best SS revolver cleaner ive ever used even removed cylender rings! about 3.00 at walmart! (cleaning section)

  • @johnnymagnum357 Thanks i will look!

  • DAMN! Good job on the polishing.. looks sweet !

  • @Antarath Thanks!

  • They came later with a hardened trigger and hammer....

  • Nice clean up. It looks brand new. Take care of that baby and it will last forever. I have had my 686-4 w/4" barrel for about 25 years. It is my favorite and it will never fail. I like that I can use 38 special to practice with.

@RyeGrog1, the (-4) means that it was the 4th. generation/change in design. The first ones had 5 screws holding it together. This change went to 3 screws, something like that. I found the info. on a S&W site.

    Be safe, shoot straight.

  • the new ones are junk

  • @InspireImages oh yea? based on what? I bet you just googled "S&W lock" and you read about the 1 or 2 people who had thier guns lock up.. or about how the new steel used in the triggers/hammer is brittle... do you own a smith? have you even shot one? hell, have you ever touched a gun before? I agree that the old models are much nicer, but the new smith and wesson guns are by NO MEANS "junk".. S&W has made some compromises over the years but they still make some of the best guns you can buy!

  • @v5u7sulh2 Perhaps my statement may have been a bit harsh, sorry to pee in your corn flakes! The reason I found this video is because we will be trading in a new S&W for an older style one. But I am glad you are happy with yours but for us compromises in a carry weapon is just not acceptable.

  • My 686 is about 15 years old. On the side it says 686-4. I was told the 4 means that it's the length of the barrel. But when I used a measuring tape, it was 5. Does anyone have any info?

  • i love the GP100, but i also have maaaaaaad love for the s&w 686. got alot of trigger time on these....they are sooo fuckin sexy, make ya wanna buss a gun nut just lookin at it LOL....theres one in the shop i go to and im gonna try and pick it up...yours is super clean man i love it

  • Sweet gun, I got one just like it. Though mine has a scratch or two on it, dunno if I can do anything about that. Still it was a good trade.

  • @exodipus I am uploading a video now you might wanna watch!

  • As much as I love GP100s, a 686 without that blasted key lock is a gem. My dad has a 586, I will NEVER let that out of the family, not a chance in hell.

  • comparered to the newer models... I prefer the older ones like yours. stamped logos as opposed to laser etched on the newer models, and im a bigger fan of hammer mounted firing pins as well. the newer ones have internal firing pins and I just don't fancy those very much at all... great gun. never get rid of it for anything newer, those are the best! great vid Mike. peace.

  • Sweet Ass Gun!

  • Tou're right! That's one "sweeeeet" gun. I am also lucky to have one just like it, and in my opinion, the older style model 686 has it over the ones in current production. The older style frame seems nicer especiially noted is the absence of the infamous "lawyer lock" that has been noted to jam. By the way, if you plan to do extended periods of shooting with it, you may want to keep the rubber grips on as it is much easier on the hands.

  • @shurguardlock Yea you are right about the grips! This gun and i are shooters so comfort is key!

  • the bbl not being lined up is becuz who did them fucked up n u can take them to a gun smith n fix it all s&w i was told u can change the bbl out my dads friend has a 357 n 44mag with 2 ,4,8, in bbl for both guns

  • nice looking six-shooter. cleaned up nice

  • That is one gorgeous revolver. Simply elegant and classically beautiful. It sounds like quality when you cock the hammer.

  • Wow, what a gorgeous revolver Mike. I did not expect that when I first heard, its beauty, nothing else to say. That being an older 686, I don't think you will have any issues at all. Built like a tank and the action like butter. I plan on filming at least 2 videos this week after the gun show edits I need to do and then get my VR up for your contest buddy. Every collection needs a good mid size revolver in it and I think you got a fine one there my friend. Range time now, lol. Very Nice. : )

  • nice piece

  • The 686 is one my list of guns that I need to get in the future!

  • @thebudgetarmory1 Yes try to find a old one no lock and the firing pin is in the hammer!

  • lookin good bro, im pretty sure the majority of the smith triggers and hammers have that tarnished look cause its they type of material they use, mine is like that as well

  • @lskw1 If you don't like it use one of these rags comes right of with a little elbow grease! Thanks for swinging bye!

  • @streetmaster63 Yours is super nice i am sure!

  • Looks great

  • @1crimm Thanks!

  • Nice gun Bro!! Congrats. If there is hard to remove lead try a smaller brass brush and wrap some chore boy around it. Removes all traces of lead out of the cylinder and barrel in seconds

  • @slinginLEAD10 Thanks for the tips!

  • @360steven Thanks!

  • I'm flagging this video for poor weapons saftey. Due to the fact that I'm a total loser with a chronic masturbation problem, I won't actually tell you that it was me who flagged it. Shit, I just screwed this up didn't I?

All BS aside, THAT is a gun. Very nice.

  • @bisquik3006 Lol Yea the gun is only as safe as the person behind it! Your smith is a beast! You can get help with that problem ya know! It's called a Women! LOL

  • @Lookinformemarbles My chronic masturbation is only seen as a problem by other people. It doesn't bother me a bit.

  • looks pretty! lol

  • @StiThis1 Thanks!
