I wonder if there's really anything illegal that was done.. does the UK gov have a "freedom of speech" clause in their constitution? Isn't this what Murdoch pretty much did? They didn't even "hack" any phones, since guessing someone's voice mail code is not hacking, and not illegal.
Was it distasteful? Absolutely, but I still don't know where the illegal part comes in, it's not illegal to be an asshole like Murdoch is.
@zdrux firstly, we don't have a written constitution, secondly they did not guess voice mail codes, they listened to messages that were intended for the recipient, that's called interception and is illegal under our laws, section 1 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.
@shahideurope And how did they listen to the conversations then? They sat outside their windows and listened in using foam cups? They hacked the Telecom Corporation? How exactly did they intercept these messages?
@shahideurope I don't see how country has anything to do with you explaining exactly how he managed to "intercept" the messages. But whatever makes you happy.. it's cool.
@zdrux gosh, not only did they hack other peoples phones, (such as celebrities and people who through hacking their phones would get great information for articles) they also bribed police. Which is most definitely illegal. They also, through their hacking, misled an investigation into the murder of a young girl. This is all considered illegal believe it or not.
The reason why this kind of humour isn't very popular is because a lot of Americans are used to jokes that either involve a certain degree of profanity or sexual innuendos. Even though these two guys use neither elements, they're brilliant at satirizing whatever they want.
@burrerere. Well, both the Flight of the Concords and John Clarke are kiwis. New Zealand humour at it's finest. If only Billy T James were still with us, the line up of comedians would be unsurpassable.
Yes, I'm an Int'l viewer too, I'm viewing from the Caribbean. I can't get enough of these guys, they simple are brilliant! The dialogue and delivery are delectable, talk about food for thought.
@Vlakpage I didn't know there were international viewers. I mean I thought there were, but the YouTube analytics chart shows only Australia in green. o.0
Yes, there are a lot of us from outside Oz, I'm Polish for example. Clarke and Dawe are among the best satirists I know. It's not only their delivery, but writing is brilliant to start with. I love their succinct, economical style. Every single word is perfectly chosen and sits in the perfect spot among others.
@WeaselWJ Well they often talk about foreign issues or the other videos are applicable all over the world so it should be entertaining for everybody. So my question is still why aren't they more popular outside of Australia?
@Vlakpage I don't know. Maybe they need to be promoted more. But keep in mind, political videos are not the most popular on YouTube, compared to music and video games.

"Mr. Murdoch said this the humblest he had ever felt."
"I think what he actually said Brian was that it was the humblest day of his life."
"So who was humble him or the day?"
"Yes, humblest day of my life, yes I think it was the day Brian, I think it might have been the weather that was humble."
Man this reminds me of Flight of the Conchords somehow.
