hi, how do you like ur shiba? we are thinking of getting one and no matter what I read on the internet about the breed I still like them. are they good around kids? we dont have any, but i would hate to get rid of the dog just because of a new addition to the family.
Our Shiba always liked little kids cause they were closer to his out. He has tolerated our little one for the last couple of years...although if he was younger I think he would enjoy it more. He is 13 now with arthritis, some deafness, pain meds, etc. So you can't expect a lot from him at this age.
His mom, dad, Brothers and sisters where all small shiba size, but mine is huge! 2 times bigger then your normal shiba. he's the size of a Shikoku or a small Akita. @ __@
Too funny! We call our Shiba the little "Hoover" he will not go to this extent, but cleans up all the crumbs/kibble on the floor left from our other dog. Thank God for the little "Hoover", he's a good helper.
First couple of times, he resisted big time, then he was okay with it after that. Lots of Treats involved. I hold him and my wife cuts them. He doesn't like people touching his feet either, so it is a miracle we can cut them.
Cat on the other hand involves blood. We send her to the vet to get it cut and I guess she is a doll. Whatever works, works.
Yep, you will never have an ant problem with that Shiba in your home ;-) (comes in handy with children, doesn't it?!?) Thanks for sharing your cute video
Cool! A Roomba-Inu! My Shiba picks up a mouthful of food then carries it to the middle of the kitchen floor where he drops it all and then picks up the food piece by piece. Of course, he only picks up half of what he dropped...
kanuck2112 - Shibas are notorious for being very difficult when you try to cut their claws. My dog in only part Shiba, and she acts like I'm killing her when I do it. But, since I'm alpha in my household, they do get cut.
nice mop... *LMAO*

do shibas shed???
swampertlv100 4 years ago
They blow their coat twice a year.
Other then that, they are very self-grooming and don't shed a lot...still a bit though. Hard to tell with a cat in the house as well.
mjdaniel 4 years ago
yeh, they shed a bit... but the are the cutest dog in the world... one brush a day whilst molting is fine... i dont even do that and mine is great
