  • This is my all time favorite movie....i love James Stewart and as a father like he is here ...well simply put the man was perfection....Heather

  • Last time I checked, Virginia is a commonwealth, not a state.

  • In deed! What do you do with dead soldiers? I often ask the same question about our brave men and women in the war we're fighting in now...the fight for life, honor, dignity, union and least of all...peace through out the world!

  • ^_^ my Dad was an extra in this film, hes one by the tree 56seconds in lol great film i remember watching it many times :)

    love James Stewart

  • One of the most libertarian scenes that I have ever seen in a film. Ron Paul could've written that script.

  • This was good Another favourite scene I like is right after Johnson and his men are wiped out by a Union ambush. Mr. Anderson sends one son back to get blankets to cover the dead and another to get confederate soldiers to bury their dead. Then he mutters " What do you do with dead soldiers?" Good question.

  • Badass~

  • Oh, so, it was the confederation soldiers. I thought, they were the union soldiers for some reason. Oh, well, it doesn't matter, it's the same idea.

    It's an excellent clip.

It's in Virginia, but they don't seem to have southern accents.

Oh well, Lincoln was a bad warmonger -- so was Wilson, F.D.Roosevelt, Johnson...

  • @LibertaerUeberAlles

That's right. We Virginians don't have "Southern accents." Neither did Robert E. Lee and he was from the same town I was. So was George Washington who likewise did not have any accent. You watch too many inaccurate war flicks, dude.

  • @chelliegirl

How do you know that you don't have an accent? I've been to Virginia and I knew someone from there. To me, Virginians sound like they have an accent :-)

  • @chelliegirl If I remember correctly, Washington and Lee were part of the aristocracy of Virginia at that time.

  • is that tommy lee jones on the right at 3:32?

  • this is my favourite scene of this film, gigantic momentum

  • This is my favorite scene from one of my favorite films of all time.

  • Thanks for posting. I found the clip very powerful and moving. I am going to buy the DVD of this movie.
