  • question: I'm going to start doing box squats. Should I be adding weight every workout> AND when I remove the 'box' will my body find it hard to do normal squats sans the box? OR will it be fine?!?

  • Hey Boris! I really want to join EVERYONE in thanking you for this amazing series of videos: they are simply the best resource on squatting out there.:) I have a quick question for you re: box squats: how do you release the hip flexors while on the box? I don't know how to voluntarily control these muscles and am afraid I will hurt myself by relaxing my back/ab muscles by mistake. I know Dave Tate from EliteFS says you need to relax them, too, but I never understood how I should do that. Thanks!

  • @mcvalster Practice with lighter weights. Keep the abs tight. Relaxing the quads will probably help you relax the hip flexors as well.

  • Is this better than regular squat?

  • should a raw lifter do box squats?all the vids on tube shows everyone rockin up

  • What's up Johnny? What's your opinion on front box squats? Are there any added benefits or dangers to doing so?

  • great information. thank you very much! box squatting is now my favourite method of squatting and my conventional squat has gone up markedly

  • Thanks a bunch, again! Very informative esp. in those squads?-aren't-they-bad-for-your-knees?-times.

  • Thanks guys!!

I realized as I finished Squat Rx #13, that with OI squats, there should be a pause at the top, followed by the free fall. What I performed in the video is more of a "oscillatory reactive" squat rather than an "oscillatory isometric" squat. By pausing at the top you are adding the isometric component and "resetting" things a bit - this should make the exercise a bit more stable and easier to maintain a groove with.

  • nice vid again, thanks for the info, really appreciate it!

  • Awesome vid...

Thanks for putting a name to O-I SQs...
