lol @ the NoogahOogah discussion going on here xD Music is when notes and tones are arranged in a matching sequence, which this is, basicly :V So yes, you CAN say this is music from a factual point of view, not from your philosophical mumbojumbo :3 You base your arguments on "I think" not "fact is", which is pretty silly <3 And I know I shouldn't take you seriously, but troll or not, it's always good to know when something is based upon fact rather than philosophy, which a lot of people fail at.

@GunboatDebater I do feel the need to apologize for atrocious accusations. I don't really know what I was thinking a year ago, but this certainly is music. It is structured sound built in a melodic and harmonious manner. It simply isn't music I care for due to what I perceive as redundancy and lack of clearly defined motifs. Nonetheless, that is no reason to say that it is not music, and no one is idiotic for liking it. I apologize to everyone for my barbaric behavior.
Ok then, if it ain't music we're arguing about, it'll probably be religion, non-religion, modern music as opposed to classical, husbands as opposed to wives, one race (????) as opposed to another, cheat as opposed to loyal, democracy (if we can still call our governments such a thing) as opposed to theocracy or monarchy, diarrhea as opposed to constipation. We're all so damned dense, aren't we???

@ArikaLias No!!! There's no substance!!! Just some violins repeating the same old motif, and some weird digital thing going bing bing ba BING BING. This is not true music.
@NoogahOogah i mean..... its structured. thats how all music is or it would just be random notes. I think what's more important is the emotion it invokes. This music is meant to be played along side video and movie clips, thats what cornerstone cues does. maybe you just need to watch somethign with it. I don't understand how you can say this is not true music. you try composing some crazy shit like this.
@ArikaLias But dude! This invokes no emotion!!! What sort of music do you listen to?? Stop depriving yourself! Go listen to movement 2, Allegretto. Go listen to Carmina Burana, go listen to Verdi's Dies Irrae!!! Go listen to the Magnum Opuses that took the entire lives of the most brilliant minds on earth that can/will move you to tears after one listen! This "song" is nothing but structured chaos. Yes, it has structure to it, but that doesn't mean it has form.
@NoogahOogah i mean i know the classics. trust me, im a fan of the old school orchestrations. But Carmina Burana.....most overused song.....ever. (not to discredit it, i know its epic) But this is something new and fresh this is a modern orchestral piece Saying it isn't music is insulting not only to the composers but to those who take joy in it. Sure it has that blend of technical beats with more classical instruments, but isn't that what makes it beautiful?
@ArikaLias Yes, insulting the composer is the point, because this music stinks. I mean, I'm an open minded guy. I like cool new music, but this stuff has now rhyme/tune/or anything that makes it epic, I don't care how much electricity the guy could squeeze into it.

@NoogahOogah an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. any sweet, pleasing, or harmonious sounds or sound: the music of the waves.
Just thought I would post the actual definition of music some of yall seem to need it.
I can argue that Mozart and Beethoven's pieces are not music. They are just pushing random keys on a piano and people magically call it music. People have different kinds of taste. Not everyone is you.
Also, isn't techno considered music? I'm pretty sure it includes a lot of "its beeps boops and bops all strung together in a sort of tingy da dingy." as you call it.
@Liberaterable No, don't be stupid. Mozart and Beethoven were not random, and thus you cannot call them such unless you speak a different language in which the word random means organized. You can like this "music" if you want, but if your gonna speak English, you're gonna have to follow rules.
I say this music is not music because it is random, and does not meet the standards of music as set down by hundreds of years of professional musicians who gave their life and soul to the world of music.
@NoogahOogah Don't be ignorant. Music isn't defined as what you see it as. Mozart and Beetoven's pieces are complete random keys and notes to the people that don't have a spec of knowledge in the music field. You're too caught up on what you think music is. Everything that makes sound can be considered as music by each individual perspective.
If your gonna argue at least try to do so unbiased.
@Liberaterable I'll take this nonsense no more. Long before you ever learned what a B flat was, you enjoyed music. You can call the sky red if you want, but everyone will think you are crazy, because everyone knows that the sky is blue.
@NoogahOogah If you know you lost, don't be afraid to admit it. You are arguing on a lost cause.
First off, you totally misinterpreted my reply. Knowledge=/=keys, notes, pieces, ect. If you give Mozart to some person in a remote place, they would not recognize it, and as some people say, one cat screeching is the same as the next. Second off, you never counteract my argument on individual perspective. Lastly, the sky has no color. It's merely blue due to the reflection off the oceans. kthxbai.
@Liberaterable There is nothing to win or lose. All I am trying to do is make your brain understand that music is music, and not what you think music is.
Whatever. The sky is colored blue due to refraction. Quit your stupid quibbling. You could not say the sky is colored pink, because it is not. If you showed some foreigner Mozart, they would not recognize the person himself, but they would enjoy the sound, and possibly even identify it as music. Go learn English. Don't return until you do.
If there really was nothing to win or lose, why are you even replying? I think my brain can tell me what music is and isn't. And it's telling me this is also music. kthxbai. Now if I remember correctly, my stupid quibbling just told proved you wrong. What does that make yours then? And how would you know they would enjoy the sound? Different cultures may effect how they see music to what we consider normal. And last time I checked, I'm typing in perfectly fine English.
@Liberaterable You proved nothing. the fact of the matter is, there is a definition for music. If something does not meet that definition, then it is not music. All I'm saying. End of story. Can you get that? Is that simply put enough for you?
@NoogahOogah It feels like you're giving up already, sad since it was fun toying with you. There's definitions for many things, yet most of them do not fit. Like peace or love. Abstract thoughts are abstract. You wanna base music on your thinking-cough- then do so, but don't think you are always right. Which leads to what I said in the first place. Simple enough?
@Liberaterable Your taunting is not helping your case at all, so I advise you to quit it. Abtract thoughts are indeed abstract. You cannot, perhaps, define love. But I can certainly tell you what love isn't, and I can certainly tell you what music isn't.
@NoogahOogah Read up a few posts and you'll find something that makes yourself facepalm. Hopefully. And I don't call this taunting, I think of it as toying around. Second, I like how you put abstract in front of love. Love is abstract, not abstract is love. You admit you can't define it, yet you say you can tell me what it is? Same applies with music. And incase you haven't noticed, there are quite a few people here that call this,-waits for dramatic music- MUSIC! HARDURHARP.
@Liberaterable I can define music. i never said I couldn't. But, if I were to indulge in your little "love is an abstract concept that cannot be explained" analogy, than I had to bring it further along. So, even if music cannot be defined, i could still tell you what is not music. This is not music. Even if it is, it certainly isn't good music.
Oh, and, enough of the "toying around" business. This isn't a kung fu match. You watch too much anime. You obviously haven't been in a real debate.
@NoogahOogah First two sentence was a fail. It's what I'm trying to get through you. and if music cannot be defined, how can you say this isn't? Also good music is your thinking, and it certainly isn't everyone else. I like how half the things you said actually help me.
Oh and you read the wrong one, Mr Smart One. I was refering to durphurpdurp, you got trolled part, but mmk. Seems like you never had a real conversation with a human before, cause you don't really know how an argument works.
@Liberaterable Let me try again. This time, read what I say: music can be defined, and this does not meet the definition. Hence, this is not music. You keep saying that I have said otherwise, and I have not. If you are going to argue, pay attention. Half of what I said helped you? Great! That's more than most people. Au contraire my friend. You know nothing of debating, whereas I participate in them on a regular basis. If you meant durphurpdurp, then why did you preface with @NoogahOogah?
@NoogahOogah Find once that I typed once, >You< cannot define music. And skill in debating has nothing to do with this whatsoever, stay on topic please. And if you were oh so skilled in debating, you would know that having proven the other side is not good. I would think most people would logically think that. Also, if this is not music, why are there so many people that call this music? Why do all the other people that listen to something similar also call it music? And I'm sure I said Hardurharp
@Liberaterable "Proving the other side is not good." ....what in tarnation is that supposed to mean? If I can prove that side, and it can be proven, then it's true. Sorry you don't like it. Go cry in the mirror. People call this music, because they think it is. they can call grass purple for all I care. That doesn't make it true, though you think it is.
Oh? You think you said hardurharp? Well why don't you go check instead of giving me a headache with your stupidity!? You said Noogahoogah.
@NoogahOogah Obviously, it meant that in a debate, proving the other side right doesn't help, Mr. Pro Debater. And I'll quote my reply, "And incase you haven't noticed, there are quite a few people here that call this,-waits for dramatic music- MUSIC! HARDURHARP" L2read. Now you say that they are wrong. What makes you right? Because of your definition of music? You're not very good at this are you?
@Liberaterable Oh. I get it. Your trying to pretend like what I'm saying is in your favor. Well cut it out, because it isn't.
I know your desperate here, but if your losing, the most honorable thing you can do is admit it. I am right, because what I say has not been debunked. If something does not meet the definition of music, it is not music. Defend yourself now.
Let me quote you: "@NoogahOogah Read up a few posts...etc." Do not make a fool of yourself. You prefaced with @NoogahOogah.
@NoogahOogah The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context.... THERE IS NO DEFINITION OF MUSIC
@NoogahOogah Not necessarily, if you showed Mozart or Beethoven's music to someone who has never heard of them before, they won't necessarily like it. It depends on the individual's perspective.
How does this not invoke emotion? It's such a powerful piece!
You know what, try watching ravenhpltc242's "Katara-Mojave" piece. Even if you don't watch that show, it's still a great example of how emotional and intense this piece can be with a little intelligent thought.
Also, I'm not sure I know what electronic "bing-bong" your hearing. I hear powerful strings, particularly violins, and accompanying orchestral instruments.
@UchihaKat Yes. powerful strings, instruments, etc. haphazardly strewn together in a dull and unimpressive repetitive cycle of inharmonious rhythms without any sort of motif. It may actually be something compared to most modern music, but I never listen to modern music.
If you want powerful instruments that will move you, listen to Beethoven's 7th symphony, 2nd movement. Allegretto.
If this "Mojave" moves you, some classical music has the potential to kill you. All of you.
@NoogahOogah I can agree with all of this. I do believe that we should be open to all forms of music though. With an open mind any form of "noise" can be music. Thats the beauty of it all.. Even Mozart said this. Its just best to be respective of all types of music even though some of it sucks. I am a fan of classical music, but this is a pretty epic song that invokes imagination, and for that it should be appreciated.
@Cabsher27 Well, I'm glad you find this thing epic. And, while you can think of any noise as music, that doesn't mean it actually meets the standard and actual definition of music, and so therefore is not music.
@UchihaKat I will respect your taste in music, but I will not respect it if you decide what music is and isn't, like other people here are. Music is what it is; not what you decide it is. Just had to throw that in.
Thank you for that, but I must say you seem a little hypocritical, seeing as you're trying to impress /your/ definition of music on everyone here. But I digress.
Music (Noun): an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.
Based on this definition, an official one, I do have to support those who say this is music, as it does adhere to this definition.
@UchihaKat Here's the problem. This "art of sound" expresses no ideas, emotions, through elements of melody, harmony, or color. I mean, maybe you think it does. But pleas, do explain how. All I hear is a constant strumming sound. I don't see how that qualifies as anything in that definition without motif of any kind.
You must need to turn your volume up if you can't hear the beautiful complexity of this song. Personally, I hear water; the swell and recession of the symphony and lower violins like waves, the rush of the higher violins like white rapids, even that "annoying bonging" is like a rock creating turbulence in the water. Admittedly I find the very beginning and end a bit mundane, like stagnant pools, but it still creates a contrast that I find audibly stimulating.
@UchihaKat If I want to listen to a stream of water, I will listen to a recording of a stream of water. When i want to listen to music, I do not want to listen to a stream of water.
I am so confused by you! First you're arguing that music has to have melody and soul and creativity to be real, then you present only calculated and soulless responses when questioned further. Since you are clearly unwilling to lose this discussion, even if it means betraying your own arguments, I'm going to have to duck out here and just enjoy the music.
@UchihaKat What do you mean? Music does need melody, rhythm and motif. That does not equal a stream of water. A stream of water sounds beautiful, yes, but it is quite different than music. I'm not defying my own arguments by saying this. A stream has neither harmony, rhythm, or motif.
@NoogahOogah The beauty of hearing is that I, or you, or anyone for that matter can decide what we like and what we call "music." Everything was made up once, and when Mozart came out he was criticized because his sound was different from that of the pre-classical era. I see what you are saying, but to accuse people of not knowing the definition of music is defying their right to believe what they want, without creation and originality, there will be no more new music, nor would it have existed.
This song owns life

@Liberaterable Your taunting is not helping your case at all, so I advise you to quit it. Abtract thoughts are indeed abstract. You cannot, perhaps, define love. But I can certainly tell you what love isn't, and I can certainly tell you what music isn't.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah Read up a few posts and you'll find something that makes yourself facepalm. Hopefully. And I don't call this taunting, I think of it as toying around. Second, I like how you put abstract in front of love. Love is abstract, not abstract is love. You admit you can't define it, yet you say you can tell me what it is? Same applies with music. And incase you haven't noticed, there are quite a few people here that call this,-waits for dramatic music- MUSIC! HARDURHARP.
Liberaterable 1 year ago
@Liberaterable I can define music. i never said I couldn't. But, if I were to indulge in your little "love is an abstract concept that cannot be explained" analogy, than I had to bring it further along. So, even if music cannot be defined, i could still tell you what is not music. This is not music. Even if it is, it certainly isn't good music.
Oh, and, enough of the "toying around" business. This isn't a kung fu match. You watch too much anime. You obviously haven't been in a real debate.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah First two sentence was a fail. It's what I'm trying to get through you. and if music cannot be defined, how can you say this isn't? Also good music is your thinking, and it certainly isn't everyone else. I like how half the things you said actually help me.
Oh and you read the wrong one, Mr Smart One. I was refering to durphurpdurp, you got trolled part, but mmk. Seems like you never had a real conversation with a human before, cause you don't really know how an argument works.
Liberaterable 1 year ago
@Liberaterable Let me try again. This time, read what I say: music can be defined, and this does not meet the definition. Hence, this is not music. You keep saying that I have said otherwise, and I have not. If you are going to argue, pay attention. Half of what I said helped you? Great! That's more than most people. Au contraire my friend. You know nothing of debating, whereas I participate in them on a regular basis. If you meant durphurpdurp, then why did you preface with @NoogahOogah?
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah Find once that I typed once, >You< cannot define music. And skill in debating has nothing to do with this whatsoever, stay on topic please. And if you were oh so skilled in debating, you would know that having proven the other side is not good. I would think most people would logically think that. Also, if this is not music, why are there so many people that call this music? Why do all the other people that listen to something similar also call it music? And I'm sure I said Hardurharp
Liberaterable 1 year ago
@Liberaterable "Proving the other side is not good." ....what in tarnation is that supposed to mean? If I can prove that side, and it can be proven, then it's true. Sorry you don't like it. Go cry in the mirror. People call this music, because they think it is. they can call grass purple for all I care. That doesn't make it true, though you think it is.
Oh? You think you said hardurharp? Well why don't you go check instead of giving me a headache with your stupidity!? You said Noogahoogah.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah Obviously, it meant that in a debate, proving the other side right doesn't help, Mr. Pro Debater. And I'll quote my reply, "And incase you haven't noticed, there are quite a few people here that call this,-waits for dramatic music- MUSIC! HARDURHARP" L2read. Now you say that they are wrong. What makes you right? Because of your definition of music? You're not very good at this are you?
Liberaterable 1 year ago
@Liberaterable Oh. I get it. Your trying to pretend like what I'm saying is in your favor. Well cut it out, because it isn't.
I know your desperate here, but if your losing, the most honorable thing you can do is admit it. I am right, because what I say has not been debunked. If something does not meet the definition of music, it is not music. Defend yourself now.
Let me quote you: "@NoogahOogah Read up a few posts...etc." Do not make a fool of yourself. You prefaced with @NoogahOogah.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah " Read up a few posts and you'll find something that makes yourself facepalm."
"PS trolled~"
Direct quotes. L2read pl0x. I'm getting bored with this now.

@NoogahOogah The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context.... THERE IS NO DEFINITION OF MUSIC
Cabsher27 1 year ago 2
@NoogahOogah Actually, you kinda proved nothing. It does fit that definition, at least to me and other people: therefore it is music.
You don't like this music, then don't listen to it, its as simple as that. Just don't criticize people who do enjoy it and think it is music.
HydraSphinx1 1 year ago 3
@NoogahOogah Not necessarily, if you showed Mozart or Beethoven's music to someone who has never heard of them before, they won't necessarily like it. It depends on the individual's perspective.
HydraSphinx1 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah But in saying that you insult and criticize the people who DO thinks its music and also the composers.

UchihaKat 1 year ago
@UchihaKat Yes. powerful strings, instruments, etc. haphazardly strewn together in a dull and unimpressive repetitive cycle of inharmonious rhythms without any sort of motif. It may actually be something compared to most modern music, but I never listen to modern music.
If you want powerful instruments that will move you, listen to Beethoven's 7th symphony, 2nd movement. Allegretto.
If this "Mojave" moves you, some classical music has the potential to kill you. All of you.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah I can agree with all of this. I do believe that we should be open to all forms of music though. With an open mind any form of "noise" can be music. Thats the beauty of it all.. Even Mozart said this. Its just best to be respective of all types of music even though some of it sucks. I am a fan of classical music, but this is a pretty epic song that invokes imagination, and for that it should be appreciated.
Cabsher27 1 year ago
@Cabsher27 Well, I'm glad you find this thing epic. And, while you can think of any noise as music, that doesn't mean it actually meets the standard and actual definition of music, and so therefore is not music.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah
I suppose it's okay, not really my cup of tea though, you know?
I guess we'll just have to respect each other's different tastes in music.
UchihaKat 1 year ago
@UchihaKat I will respect your taste in music, but I will not respect it if you decide what music is and isn't, like other people here are. Music is what it is; not what you decide it is. Just had to throw that in.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah
UchihaKat 1 year ago
@UchihaKat Here's the problem. This "art of sound" expresses no ideas, emotions, through elements of melody, harmony, or color. I mean, maybe you think it does. But pleas, do explain how. All I hear is a constant strumming sound. I don't see how that qualifies as anything in that definition without motif of any kind.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah
UchihaKat 1 year ago
@UchihaKat If I want to listen to a stream of water, I will listen to a recording of a stream of water. When i want to listen to music, I do not want to listen to a stream of water.
NoogahOogah 1 year ago
@NoogahOogah
UchihaKat 1 year ago
