I would be shocked if this man hasn't read Heidegger. His commentary is very similar to Heidegger's critique of technology and the "technological way of being."
Anyonwe who is aware of our "power down" future should read Martin Heidegger's essay, "The Question Concerning Technology." It should be considered essential reading.
Communism is a natural thing that occurs neurotypically on the social level, not on the authority level. There have always been outcasts in "tribes" or whatever vaguely pretentious word you want to call it. You don't bring a community into fruition through authority, or guilt, or ideology. You bring it from self interest. If your interest is in the community then it is still YOUR self interest because you do it to make yourself feel good.
The "evil oil" idea is ultimately a Socialist idea due to frustration with the success of capitalism. Get them to abandon oil and we will out produce them and force them into our BETTER idea of World. The world is always changing. The discovery of oil went a long way to saving whales for example and gives people a cheap source of energy. Energy sorts will change according to cost. There is no increase in depression in the west due to Oil. Tribe, groups have meant battles and death.
We may be forced back to group, tribe, and away from the "American Way" which is individualism. Tribe will mean us and them and thus they are less and we are more so war to take from them. I have native blood , family, tribe life was us and them. We are "The Humans" and they are the low dogs to be used, invade, take, kill, enslave. 500 tribes NO!. One Tribe, The United States of America. Individuals collectively trading within the framework of law. I am not native American but American period!
I agree in one way. We need to plant, grow. We need to understand we are all tribe together under basic moral law of do unto others. We also each need a firearm to impress this to the evil among us but this drive against, Gas, oil, coal, harvesting of wood, etc., is more a plot than a protection of the garden as gardeners of the earth. This love front is a cover for social engineering and dictatorship. For example, In California we have more trees than any other time in history. Forests in City
Totally agree with the coming need to renew our sense of community. We will be fine if we just accept the idea of needing our neighbors again. Then hopefully, we can behave in a way that is more human, empathetic, and hospitable. Good observations.
Looking at the problem with the same level of consciousness produces a very negative message. There is 'enough' for everyone---the limiting mindset is part of the current paradigm and manipulated by those who control resources. As far as recognizing our collective shadow---we simply need to recognize it--thats it. This is a very negative limiting message. Focusing on how it can't work---will produce exactly that.
I have long enjoyed your Peak Moment Series. But this video seems to be far fetched with his thoughts. I hope the quality of this series does not continue with this level of programming.
Not everybody agrees with everything our guests consider. My intention is to share different perspectives, mostly from people who've given some thought to the predicament we're in. We also have guests with practical projects in their lives and communities.
This conversation was taped before we started Peak Moment TV -- so you might say it was pre-Peak Moment.
I'm interested to know what seems far-fetched to you. I value your thoughts, either as a public comment or private message. ~ Janaia
William read, "Handy tips on how to behave at the death of the world" by Anne Herbert, also known for "Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty." Search for her in wikipedia - the link to this text is there.
On the Pschological aspect of people worrying about how all this is going to play out. If it's any comfort combat soldiers have similar anticipation & worry. I can't count how many movies where the soldier says they just wish the battle to start so they can quit worrying.
Best advice, we can't anticipate exactly how this will unfold. So don't worry about it. If your number is up then it's up.
Maybe a dig on preppers but for me I find myself standing alone not so much by choice but rather because I can find no one interested in developing a small cooperative group with varying skills of all types; educational, technical and spiritual. So I planted an orchard, raise free range chicken grow a lot of food have a generator that runs on cannola and on and on. The problem is without a community of fellow travelers the chances are poor maybe more will appear in time, I pray they will come.
Now that interest is ramping up, you might be able to assemble such a group, even if it's a bunch of like minded city people. There are people out there who would love to get the chance to stage a year or two of supplies at an established rural location, where they could run to if tshtf. Doing so could bring a lot of manpower as well as guards with their own guns and ammo who can pull shifts to watch the fences and defend the location if attacked.
I'm not really a fan of storing food under protection, as there will always be someone in need who will do what it takes to eat. Instead, I would save and maybe hide some seed, as a last resort. Better to plant a fruit tree then try to hide stored food. Anyone can steal a harvest, but the tree will bear fruit the next year. Remember, if SHTF, the gov must and will maintain continuity of gov, so we can't allow S to HTF. We need to secure our food source and then monetary policy.
I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to store food, save money & pay off debt. That's 90% of the prepper lifestyle right there. Disasters happen but the most common disasters are personal, like a job loss, or your house burning down. The S can HTF for you personally without your neighbor even knowing about it. Easing into the prepper lifestyle has no downside. You live a happier lower stress life and you're ready for disasters both big and small.
And once you've made progress in paying down your debts, once you've got some emergency cash available, once you've got a few months of food and other supplies on hand, you stop being stressed about losing your job or running into most other personal SHTF situations. And if a crazy Hollywood disasters hits, you'll have some kind of plan and the means to get out of the situation or make the situation better.
"The survival podcast" episode 264 explains it better than I can.
Just what I was thinking today secure our food source, then we have the power to decide where we go (the movement) after that. And all of the truthers, patriots , all of us..one thing most of us have in common is gardening. Makes sense . We want peaceful change , not war. (hell)
Get off the Grid,as much as possible. Then we will have some sway in making a real change.
I had an opportunity to join such a group myself but I'm already committed to going to a rural location that one of my parents live. Due to the lack of meds in a shtf situation the parent wouldn't last more than a few months but I should be there. It's the right thing to do. It could cost me dearly but it's the right thing to do.
Did I hear a dig on people in the preparedness movement? I'll have you know that we're not all a bunch of people living in bunkers with 10 years of freeze dried food. We're mostly like everyone else except that we're a bit more prepared, and most of us have a garden and an interest in permaculture. Survivalists of the 70's variety are pretty rare these days but normal people who are getting prepared are much more numerous. I bet you're one of us. You just don't know it yet.
Can you imagine the Truther/Patriot movement and the Permaculture people getting together? There would be nowhere for the bankers to hide? Ha-ha. BTW, nice set-up you have for tracking your expenditures and receipts. Who needs Microsoft Money and the like, with creativity like yours.
"Can you imagine the Truther/Patriot movement and the Permaculture people getting together?"

I don't have to imagine it. It's happening. Take a listen to the survival podcast, that guy, a modern survivalist, talks about permaculture all the time and I've learned a lot from him. It really looks like it could be the salvation for a lot of people.
Where do these damn HIPPIES come from ?? OIL is good and by god I am gonna use all I can and this guy is a major QUEER !!!

It seems a happy and inevitable result of the challenges/opportunities that face us.
