Question. I have fostered a Malamute. That dog did not like ANY other small animals. So if you own a husky or similar what do you do if you go away on a trip? Clearly, with such strong instincts to other small animals kenneling is an issue right? I have to travel sometimes, not often but, twice a year maybe..my vet takes my dog that I have now...but, there are other animals there. What is the solution for those of you who have these dogs?

@AliceStokesPaul Malamutes should come with tags "Use a wire muzzle every time when outdoors" and "Keep away from children". Malamutes are one of the least tolerant dogs to smaller creatures.

@AliceStokesPaul I had a husky that i suspect was part malamute. he was great with people though i never had him around kids. it loved and i mean loved to fight with other dogs. he was damn good at it too. a true alpha male. he hated cats and got a hold of a couple. he also killed a couple of ducks. he lived with a little yorkie that was his boss. the yorkie would kick his butt a least once a month just to keep him honest. the yorkie was about 7 years older than him.

What nice looking dog. I have a Alaskan Malamute she is the same around food very protective around her bowl but we been working on it and she as calmed down alot. I dont feed table scraps as i dont want her to start trying to take food of people. Maybe your Husky dont do that tho. But i know my wolf will lol. She loves people and other animals. I got to 2 cats shes chases them around but she knows how far to push them before they make her cry.

Yeah he is Canadian it is an interesting accent. You can separate American by words like house. I think if you heard some Scots speaking, like me, it sounds a bit a like they seem to use a rather clean/old version of scots dialect with some words. Plenty Scots did go to Canada of course. We say "hoose" for house but of course our version is much stronger accented. I love the red siberians as they don't look like a wolf but themselves...have a one myself these dogs are truly special animals!!!

She gets a long with the other (2 smaller dogs) great. UNLESS they try to steal her food. Watch them if you ever feed table scraps. Normal dog food she could care less, but table scraps she is possessive over. And she has tried to eat my cat everytime she has seen him. They aren't known for getting along with cats at all :(

And the size of the house doesn't matter. If you have a fenced in yard or are prepared to walk her at least once per day, then they are fine

Huskey do NOT get along with any animals unless their raised with them! My husky will pretend to be nice, and then attack the dog/cat when given the chance! its instinctual, they are very protective of themselves and their owners! I love my husky and i don't need any of pets!
