@72bent I used to live in South Carolina and i now live in California. What it seems like to me is people here tend to drive.. sportier vehicles, more luxery less torque. There are people who drives trucks of course but not as much as SC.

i've been to south carolina twice. what i noticed is that there are less pick-ups in california. is it a coincidence, or are really less pick-ups on the west coast?

I've heard that despite that California has the most effective freewayhub in the world, it's always congested with traffic. I wonder how many of these vehicles are equipped with catalysators, or has a fuel low emission combustion law already been set?

@volunteerz - CA has strict emissions laws. smog checks are done every other year. still the sheer volume of vehicles here makes it pretty smoggy.

@mediaxpuppet emissions systems have just gotten better over the years. Also some older cars do have newer engines in them. About over a decade ago, the worst place for smog was inland empire. You could see the layer coming in for a landing at Ontario Intl'.

@volunteerz traffic in Los Angeles has gotten progressively worse over the years. They have also overbuilt in the areas north/south/east/west of LA. You have to leave at least 2 hrs early for work if commuting from Ventura Cty to the Los Angeles area (depends on how close you are). Traffic is the norm nowadays. New York City has a better mass transit network vs. LA because their rail systems inner city are that good as well as the bus lines. You can get by w/o a car in NYC.

I am from England and I must say America has more lanes of traffic over there and it is mostly sunny. Here in England its dull, cloudy, windy, raining and thats in the Summer too!
