White Americans see themselves as just "Americans". They have no racial identity. But blacks, Hispanics etc. are hyphenated Americans. They see themselves first and foremost as "black", "Hispanic" etc. Therefore, their loyalties are not for America as a whole, but for their own group. This is why it is best to have whites in positions of power and not blacks like Lloyd.
