@dabbott14 It depends on where it was played. But the 1999 GSU team lost two games that year. This Marshall team saw no equal. As evidence above, they were blowing out the defending champion, 21-game winning streak Montana Griz by a score of 46-6 at this point. And you say that option was unstoppable? They had Adrian Peterson (of the Bears). Marshall had Randy Moss and a QB good enough to keep Chad Pennington on the bench. I don't see how any 1-AA beats this team (though anything is possible).
@dylanrocks83 One of those losses was to a pretty good UGA team loaded with NFL talent. GSU didn't have a future hall of fame receiver, but they had fantastic athletes for their system, and Peterson had one of the great careers in NCAA history. 1999 GSU was a very veteran team that had plenty of experience running that option and getting the timing and reads right. Paul Johnson was a GREAT I-AA coach. He sucks at GT, but his GSU teams were terrific. They won the I-AA title 59-24 that year.
@dabbott14 Marshall's defense in 1996 was ridiculous too. Like the poster said...this made it 46-6...and folks thought that Montana's offense was fantastic. Marshall ate up run games that year thanks to a GREAT defense. Seriously, the defense was full of All-American and future professional players. DL would have got penetration, forced pitch quick, and LB's would have run it down. AP was amazing, but hard to be great when you have to make a move immediately, then avoid 3 guys coming at you
I thought it was cool how they said both teams are 14-0, both have the same number of points, but one team doesn't have #88 right as he caught the TD pass.
that was timed so perfectly by the announcer

1999 Georgia Southern would have given this team a run for it's money. That option offense was unstoppable

God that game was fun to be at. The cold weather, the Montana fans in disbelief, and the greatest I-AA team of all time.

the commentator planned that to sound cool if it did happen, then when moss had beaten the first man he gave it the go ahead
