  • It's a little more complicated than that..... too much load to one tire and it will begin to loose grip.

  • I remember these from the Popular Hot Rodding TV show.

  • If you crash the wall, you will die. It's obvious.

  • Brakind in chicane will kill you.

  • this tip may be good on a race car, but on a standard car if you do this (entering a corner with your foot on the brake) you have many chances to oversteer, because all the weight is transfered on the front tires, nothing on the back!!

  • @goguletz actually, that technique can be used on most cars. you just have to brake very carefully when you turn. of course, most of the braking is done in the straight, but to shave some seconds off your times, you'll need to use it.

BTW you should check out a technique called "threshold braking" on wikipedia. there's part of it concerning turning while braking

  • @goguletz unless you going FAST, slam into a gear, or on teh gas, that will never happen.

  • Really great lesson, i'll think of that while driving , thanks a lot.

  • wow this is a good tip

  • This is great. The same technique works in go kart racing. If you want to practice it try it at your local go kart racing track first. There are places where you can rent them and they can even give you computerized lap times. ;-)

  • amazing

  • Man all I have to say is WOW!! that is so cool just ignore those dick heads who criticize you that is amazing

  • To Get Around Corners Fast And Swiftly, Theres 1 Word. DRIFT.

  • XP thats a great word.... DRIFT.... but to drift you need experience sliding and spinning out.... then you get better and better at learning the drift.... <----- i drift pritty fucking well

  • The video seems fairly accurate. Just brake in a straight line first and then trail break to the apex. If you have track time you will know this anyway!

  • took the words from my mouth

  • wat program did u use?

  • correct me if im wrong but on all of my track days im told to break in a straight line then turn and accelerate out ? this clip says break and turn at the same time? now im confused

  • they told u that because if u do the thing in this video, u hav a big chance to loose control. and it depends on the car your driving

  • turning and braking should be used with antilock brakes if you would do it in the same time

  • Breaking in the begining of the turn slightly to decrease your speed turn and then break more aggresivly to shift weight to the front right or left... accellerate threw the turn at the apex and finish the turn at a higher speed

  • This is so logical that it hurts. But don't use this stuff on the street, because there's a lack of control while transferring most of the power on an wheel. And there's a big chance you'll loose control. Gotta know the track, your car and you need braking skills.

  • cool

  • Riddila,

35-40 is freaking slow..d not shame yourself in such speed. a FWD can go even faster

  • are you dumb? a front whel drive car will have a higher speed threw the turn yes.... but all that power is cut down when you come out of that turn XD AWD and RWD cars will have the advantage coming out of the turn

  • i am dumb, but have u ever heard of Left foot Braking or Heel and Toe techniques to maintain your RPM so that u can exit the corner around the same entry speed earlier?

and to say u can drift? u don't even know the basic of throttle control and RPM control.

i guess you define drift by just pulling your e-brake or power over.

your explanation tells a lot on how familiar you are with different drivetrains and their pros and cons.

  • The AWD will ultimatly come out with more traction and control as all the tires are moving in sinc. ..... Rear wheel will slide more if you hold the accelerator threw the turn so throttling up n down will give you a smoother drift rather then sliding out n over all spinning out of control.....

  • PS dont try what i just said below in a FWD car... and dont freak out if you get sideways a lil bit...

  • How do you turn without braking into a corner?

  • Easy, just downshift, let the clutch out and hit that gas a lil harder...at least thats what I do. The position you go into the turn also has a lot to do with it. I took a right hand(90degree) turn at the light without braking going about 35-40mph. and im a novice

  • anyone know where to download this video..???

  • great vid, loved it, keep up ther good work...

  • stfu about load transfer. Weight / load same thing. He got the basics down pretty well =). Now if he could post the driving dynamics of feint motion, trail braking and left foot braking that WOULD BE GREAT =D ps pm me if their avaliable :O

  • That is simply no true, he IS right, it is LOAD transfer that happens, the only weight transfer is in the petrol tank.

It is the cars track, wheelbase and height that influence how much of this load is transferred. Search up Inetria, Load Transfer, Verhicle Dynamics on google and you'll see what we mean.

  • Weight and load are interchangable terms in physics, they both refer to the forces involved as such. I dont think youve quite got the idea of vehicle dynamics yet... instead of what you mentioned, you should be looking more at things like the car's centre of gravity, suspension set up and weight distribution of the car - spring rates, stabilisers and dampening will play a much bigger role in vehicle dynamics

  • It's "load" tranfer.. "Weight" doesn't transfer unless something is loose in the car and your CG is moving about.

Sorry, just being picky.. I'm on Youtube, so I must be bored!

    Great vid! Thanks. :)
