My fAVORITE composer is george G, but being a white boy he could not play his own music! you white folks won't undERSTAND THIS, but G Gershwin would never put you white folks in his plays, and for a very good reason reason. have you ever seen him conduct his plays? he does it for a reason. without black people, it doesn't mean a thing.
@MrAgency12 Could you explain a bit more what you mean. Here in the UK we have people of all colours and creeds and this doesn't make any difference to most of us. Do you mean that Gershwins' work only ever had prejudice and bigotry of a certain place and period in history as its main theme? Seems to me his themes can be transposed to evoke emotion over a much wider and equally as powerful range of issues. E,g. Othello has been well portrayed by both afro-carribbean descent and white actors.
