  • Hi c1rey and others who think that M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) has kept us safe since WW2 because its time for a wake up call.

Bush's star wars program has thrown M.A.D. out the window because (if it works) it will allow the US to threaten/bomb any other country without retaliation (so no mutual destruction any more)

Already its started a new cold war with Russia.

  • Whats with the cheap soundtrack lol

I agree we need nukes but I definetly agree they shouldn't transport them like that. Very risky!

  • thats not risky at all i highly doubt they are just going to keep an assembled nuke in there ready to blow its probably disassembled in ways where nothing can happen to it

  • nobody needs nuclear weapons sucker !

  • yes you are right its dangerous

  • Thank-you for this video.

It's a shame you had to spoil it with the political agenda at the end.

  • i aggree, just give up nuclear weapons are the way forward end of. i get fed up of hippies camping outside devonport saying save the trees. they are causeing more danger to the planet by trying to break into the dockyard and blockading the gates etc...

  • There Landrovers not Jeeps, love!!

  • Pure awesomeness.

  • I saw something eerily similar to this when i was a kid- a convoy of unmarked US Army jeps were escorting a large tarpaulin covered truck with armed men in unmarked uniforms placed at strategic positions on the tarp- this was back in the early 80s in NY

  • Nice splash at the end

  • #"coz we got a great big convoy trucking the night"#

  • Well done for this amazing footage!

UK Nuclear WMD, indiscriminate weapons of mass genocide, just what the government doesn't want to be seen.

Just like chemical & biological weapons, these things are just plain evil and will mean millions of innocent deaths.

    True weapons of terror.

  • Only one will have its 'load'. I'm surprised you got away with all the filming. Good video though and good music.

  • britain will allways keep its nukes.. hench why there upgrading duh!!!

  • Transporting Nukes on public highways through densely populated areas is totally crazy in this day and age. The convoy guards may be trained to stop a Hi-jacking but how do they stop a suicide truck bomb detonating while overtaking the warhead transporters? This is nothing more than the ultimate Al Queda spectacular waiting to happen. This would make 9/11 look like nothing. These convoys do not make Britain safer they make her unbelievably vulnerable. WAKE UP BRITAIN BEFORE OUR ENEMIES DO!

  • Fear the unmarked trucks and the scary music... :)

A nuclear weapon itself isnt dangerous. What is dangerous, is a person (or state) who is willing to use one...

  • Would be scary if something went wrong.

  • they dare too transport nukelear waste though a town daredevils

  • Its not Military police its MOD Police.

  • Thats the Special Escort Group a unit of the Ministry Of Defence Police, nice vid btw.

  • i like how they have fire extinguishers... because 3 small fire extinguishers can put out a nuke :)

  • Didn't you notice the big red fire engine that went with the convoy?

  • You cannot uninvent nuclear weapons, unless you deleted every computer and paper file and shot those who knew how to make them. Even then it wouldn't be long before they were re-invented.

We have to live with the concept of mutually assured destruction and this is why they will never be used. Therefore they are the ultimate peacekeeper.

  • why do they have wmd sirens going off?

  • Quite menacing really. Great we have as the deterant.

  • MikeT2005 you're wrong. Iran would have proceeded with the development of nuclear weapons regardless of pressure from the US. It has enemies in its global region that possess nuclear weapons, ie Israel.

  • You can be shot if you cut in on a convoy you know, The blokes in the jeeps are fully kitted out.

  • Your a bit stupid driving inbetween the convoy.

  • like i mean wats all this planed for or going to be used for

  • a question out of curiousity but what were thay doing

  • Isnt it a lil worrying that our nuclear arsenal is partially under american control? And that the yanks have a good foothold in europe as they got launch sites here too? Sheesh, no wonder bush thinks he's the dogs bollucks!

  • Britain needs to be able to protect itself and I for one feel safe knowing we have the nuke option. As for sharing the video, no problem with that, but I did find it irresponsible to name a motorway junction during the video.

  • Their just used for intimidation. No one wants a nuclear war, no one can gain from it.

  • right lets clear this up

it would be great if no countries in the world had nuclear weapons and they hadnt been invented

    but

unfortunately they have so we are stuck with them.

iran wants them because they believe it will make them a greater world power and will gain them more respect, same with every other little country that has thier own nuclear weapons program

    THE END (stop whining)

  • UK is ready ,,,,,,,,,,,For the Ice cream Truck

  • I Passed 1 of these convoys on the M6 i night they not as quick as my 143 Scania but they can move .... Top class film thanks 4 shareing

  • Nuclear weapons are necessary, it's not a erfect world and humans will go killing forever and for Britain to protect itself they are required.

  • absolute bullshit, are you that paranoide. i feel very sorry for you if this is actually what you think.

  • They got everything there, spare truck, decon facility, riot vans, fire engine...

  • And probably a dozen SAS troops as well.

  • for your info only one of the trucks would have been loaded due to security and safety. the rest were dummies

  • Just imagine if these got into the wrong hands...

  • wow.

  • hehe, in Romania you would have been rammed out of the convoy. a friend of mine got his car flipped on a side by the prime-minister's guards, because being drunk, he found a place in the convoy :D

  • Great, the UK is protecting their nukes with two jeeps, a police car, and a tour bus!!! RUN!!!!

  • good choice of music, interesting video

  • Yeah the fodens were specially built for the armed forces probably an adapted 8x4 tipper chassis.

  • i want a go in one of them trucks. Looks like they got lots time for cleaning. love the the scary music

  • sweet convoy and very nice land rovers (not jeeps) bit scary that the facility is very close to me but oh well!! hope to see one of these convoys some time!!!

  • It should be scary considering it will probably be one of the first targets in the event of a nuclear war.

  • nice Fodens! 8-legger tractor units, were these unique to the forces??

  • It would have been a perfect day to commit a crime spree in the villages and roads close to where that convoy passed along. All the police in the area would have been put on duty to watch the convoy with the army, and taken off regular duty. None left behind !!!, lets ram raid some shops !!!

  • lol, like die hard 3

  • what no ice cream truck?

  • theres some great army Foden trucks in this video lol. Dont really care about the nuclear stuff though. Them army jeeps are actually LAND ROVERS which are briliant vehicles as well as trucks get your facts right.

  • lol a random bus decided to tag along..

  • lol yeah if I was there I would of joined in to

  • Ok i mat not know much about convoys and politics, But seriously im 16 and even i can see the pointlessness of nuclear weapons and how much they cost. Cant the goverment spend there money opn important thigs like erratication poverty.! i think so.

  • but if every country had them no-one would attack each other, theyd be to scared, one more step towards world peace

  • It's called power and making other countries scared...

  • Im 16 to and i can see why we have them as a DETTERENT.

  • Lots of people smarter than you disagree. (I'm unsure on this and can see both sides). It is NOT clear cut.

  • Just so you know, that detonation wasn't the bombing of Hiroshima, it was Event Baker, from OPERATION: CROSSROADS in 1946, at Bikini Atoll.

  • Very well Done, Keep it up.

  • bloody big convoy

  • WOW... Nice Video... Thanky for Posting...

  • i see you got right behind that truck... if you had a load of C4 in your car... well id hate to think what would happen if you was a terrorist...

  • the fucked up part is that none of us have really anything to do with what our nations leaders decide but yet we suffer the consequences from it.

  • Brilliant work guys, and a great little film. I found it genuinely chilling, knowing what was inside those anonymous-looking trucks. Well done!

  • thease weapons are protecting us from rushia iraq and many other countrys our weapons thretern them and they thretern us. the uk alone has enough of thease to wipe out approximatly 1/3 including water. i dont give a shit about how many any one has i give a shit when they start.

  • This is a pretty obvious thing to say, so forgive me: we ain't going to have much time to "give a shit" if they do ever start.

  • Nice one! Next step is to get rid of the bloody things. (Meantime, lets at least know what they're doing).

  • I hope as many people as possible see this to understand the real present dangers to the civilian population of these weapons passing through their areas, as well as the absolute folly of spending £100 billion on these monstrous weapons as planned by Blair & co.

Really well done to the outstanding people who made this!

  • your an idiot, Greenpeace said £75 billion, and the government should know the costs better, they say £20 billion they haven't even told us the plans to replace them yet.

so don't say you know how much it's gonna cost like Greenpeace, who don't have a clue about the new plans like everyone else apart from the government.

  • 100 billion? Get your facts right.

  • I don't know where the 100 billion came from but the goverment estimate of £20 billion is for the initial replacement of the nuclear submarines, the subs are then going to cost another £55 billion over thier life time, I don't know if it gets closer to £100 billion after you factor in the cost of the weapons themselves. In any case do you really think £20 billion is an acceptable amount to pay for something you legally and ethically can never use.

  • jesus..from looking at this it really doesn't seem that hard for terrorists to simply take out the escorts with rpgs, kill the police and hijack the nuke trucks

  • agreed... There is no "heavy" armoured deterrent in the convoy. They should at least have attack helicopters as an escort or as silly as it sounds, roll a little slower w/ a few Challenger 2's as escorts... at least peeps will know you're being serious, The president of USA has a more serious convoy than that.

  • Are you that stupid? These convoys have been taking place for 30 plus years, what speed would you imagine a challenger tank would be able to do?

  • Speed isn't that much of an issue - the fact that tank tracks are prone to failure at sustained higher speeds and they rip the crap out of roads is the main problem.

  • 80 km? or 40 mph.... oh 60 kmh

  • Fpstina, how exactly are you going to get a gunship to fly from Aldermaston to Scotland. I don't know of any attack choppers capable of that range. Do you?

  • You've been watching too many movies mate. Tanks and attack helicoptors indeed!

  • No deterrant is needed.

  • Err yes the terrorists who always have 5 or 10 RPG's just lying around... And would be able to prevent the guards noticing the large convoy or cars with RPG's in them that would have to pull up along side in order to hit all the vehicles at once. And these terrorists would also be able to fool the police into loosing three HGV's full of nukes and find somewhere to hide them. Would then be able to fit (and probably make) detonators, transport the nukes to their targets and detonate them.

  • im sure the nuke trucks wont stop... they would keep driving at a quicker pace and call for help and if they shoot it everyone will die if they block it the trucks will crush them or just smash into them

  • Don't think you'd be complaining when the likes of Iran become a nuclear threat to the freedom of this country and others alike.

  • Correct!

  • I don't want Iran become a nuclear power. The invasion of its neighbouring country on false grounds by 2 nuclear powers including the worlds biggest military power, then a resulting civil war on its border - might, just might have something to do with why it's wanting to get nukes now. Genuine diplomacy and disarmament is the only way forward if millions of us want to stay alive. Nuclear states need to get rid of the hypocrisy. It's Iran that's feeling under threat.

  • And why do you think the likes of Iran want nuclear weapons? Is it because this country and others have them? As a signatory to the NPT, we are legally obliged to move toward total disarmament.

"Threat to freedom" I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that comment. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. You are the biggest threat to your own freedom. You lose your freedom when you cease to exercise it.

  • Yes you're right Britain is obliged to move towards disarmament, which is why Britain's overall warhead count is going to be reduced from 200 to 160. Russia currently possesses 16 000.The spirit of the NPT was a 'tit for tat' disarmament kind of arrangement for those already in the club to disarm confident that everyone else was either doing it or wasn't going to get them. The argument that its understandable for Iran to want to possess them is unhelpful and misses the point, and a tad immature.

  • NPT wasn't about moving towards disarmament - it was about not selling or giving nuclear weapons or the plans to make nuclear weapons to countries which didn't have them, and for countries that didn't have them not to seek out nuclear weapons.

  • The NPT was about both a draw-down of nuclear weapons AND stopping non-nuclear states from obtaining them. Why else have we been chided by the UN for non-compliance. Do some research. And, Uibalex, MAD (mutually assured destruction) makes even less sense now than it did during the cold war. Being 16 doesn't have anything to do with anything, except that you don't have the excuse of living through the cold war for your attitude.

  • Iran wouldn't want to become a nuclear power if it wasn't under threat of the USA.

  • aye, thanks for sharing this stuff. do you know anything about the nuke train that goes through sunderland every two weeks?

  • Wicked!

  • Nice one! I have seen diagrams showing the anatomy of a convoy but never seen a real one. The ending is excellent - brought back nice memories of watching Tears for Fears perform "Mad World" on Top of the Pops way back in 1982.

  • Thank you! Thank you for showing us what is on our streets. I hope many more people watch this and realise that this happens every couple of months on our roads driving from Reading to Scotland. This film is very moving. Well done.
