Those pilots were true heroes manoeuvring and dumping their speed despite the fact that it would spell certain death for them just so that the airborne could get out before their engines blew.
@URAGamekid that's why Germany surrendered in the name of America, not the allies. And the British were good planners, but not good fighters, the Limey's couldn't handle themselves on the front line
A British soldier wrote that in Africa he was discraced to see an American officer not know how to command his troops. They had the best soldiers, but the worst officers/commanders.
@URAGamekid LT. Richard Winters has got to be amongst the top military leaders of all time though, but i do agree somewhat, but wars are won on the front line. Let's just respect every soldier who fought in this war, Americans and Allies
Soooo according to wiki the 506th only lost 3 aircraft in all this hell. I have been taught not to trust Wikipedia, but can anyone confirm? Because i find it hard to believe. German Flaks should do so much more than 3/81 aircraft on a full moon. Of course, this was only the 506th. Lemme know!
To be honest you'd jump scared or not, they are aiming for the planes..your inside the plane lol once outside the plane least you get some cover from night but shiiiiit that was stupidly low.
Check out Brotherhood of Leet at my youtube channel - a re-imagining of WW2 dramas like Band of Brothers as if they were set during the 8 bit wars of the 1980s where Nintendo and Sega are waring nations.
They are deploying behind the beaches to help take out inland forces so the regular infantry could easily move inland. Easy company dropped past Utah Beach. Unfortunately in all the confusion of explosions and bad technology, most of the troopers were miss-dropped.
@T352476 I ripped the dvd to my mac, then imported it to Imovie. It does all the formatting for you and then you upload it. I dont know how to do it on a windows
@starwarslizzard7904 no the point of the airborne was to assault further inland to prevent the shelling of the beaches they knocked out and destroyed the german garrison in normandy so the landing forces could advance and setup a beach head, they deployed much further inland just type in operation overlord in google or some shit
gosh the airborne always seems like they have it the worst. so many things can go wrong, the worst being they're being shot at while going down and their parachutes might not go off
i would have shit my pants up just to normally jump safely out of the safest airplane today in clear weather, i can't imagine the fear they must have had, the plane shaking more than a roller coaster, at night, knowing they had to jump, seeing planes with 20+ soldiers in it bursting into flames, flak blowing up corpses on the drop, and when you land you're alone with inumerous quad flak guns shooting all around you...
@VCK9009 that and the army didn't have the bullshit politics and stupid rules like they do now. Much simpler with alot less paperwork. NO AR's or FM's or a shitload of DA forms to deal with.
WOW! no matter how many times i see this movie its just plane AWSOM! If this is realy what happend well its amazing how many lived. sadly and how many died.

@URAGamekid Why? they came up with the stupid leg pack idea which caused more trouble than you could imagine
nashisbeastmodeya 2 weeks ago
@nashisbeastmodeya
Because they planned the whole friggin D-Day invasion.
URAGamekid 2 weeks ago
@URAGamekid but they cause a major downfall that led to losing equipment and a lot of injuries, broken ankles, legs, arms etc
nashisbeastmodeya 2 weeks ago
@nashisbeastmodeya
And they planned the invasion and everything else that won the war because the Yanks couldn't.
