Do you play a Vega Style M Tu-ba-phone or is it a Whyte Laydie banjo? It sure rings nicely.

You'll be suprised to hear that the banjo is a Vega Style N tenor. I had the 5 string neck installed using the original dowel. I haven't had the pot apart yet but it looks like a small metal band or ring between the head and the wooden rim. Thank you for commenting!!

Well, that is the best-sounding Style N I've ever heard; you certainly have a jewel there. I am playing clawhammer on a 1922 Style S pot (10-1/8" diameter Tu-ba-phone) with a short scale 2007 Wyatt Fawley 5-string maple neck and it is all I could ask for. Thanks for sharing your fine music! Ken

No. In the Foster era it would probably would have been played in the minstrel or parlor style - look at oldcremona "Arkansas Traveler" on youtube for a good idea of that style. Thanks for the comments!
