We stopped going to the moon because the US public began to feel that we were wasting time there after Apollo 14 was broadcasted playing golf on the lunar surface. Hardly worth the x million/billion dollars spent to get there.

First off, you're the one making the claim, which means the onus is on you to provide the evidence. A graduate degree in the field would be a reputable start.

@skybluesky It's the US that claimed to have landed a man on the moon, and they still haven't provided irrefutable evidence. Big claims (like, hey, I walked on the moon1) require big proof - bigger than photos that could have been taken anywhere. That's the point. Many 'moon hoax' videos on Youtube were themselves based on documentaries that in turn were based upon academic research on the subject.

Common sense isn't scientific, as it is based on expectation, prejudices and assumptions. In places where these assumptions are violated, like the moon, common sense can and does fail. Look at the evidence, not just assuming from what you expect.
