@samlovemetal The singer is a freaking beat, smashing his chest as he growls his ass off. I think a big part of the pulsating energy was coming directly from him when I saw em live. Impressive!
So my friend asked for a comparison of "melodic death metal" and "technical death metal", to see what I'm always talking about when I describe these distinctions.
I linked her to "War of the Gods" by Amon Amarth, and to this.
Can't help but note the difference in views on those two videos. Not that it's a popularity contest. And not that Neuraxis aren't melodic and Amon Amarth aren't technically proficient, but that's just it. Their mutual exceptions demonstrate the point well.
@sjr224 Most underappreciated band in the history of metal?? Bit of an overstatement there, dude. But you're right, they're not nearly as appreciated as they ought to be. I feel like if this album came out between 2000-2003, it would've destroyed the world.
@afternoondliter They have been very consistently good for quite a while, just nothing earth shattering in terms of evolving DM. Unless the trend becomes "technically sharp, heavy, progressive, Canadian death metal" I'm afraid they will go undervalued.
i love space metal! you know what i don't love? when people freak out about someone calling music the wrong genre. i do love sci-fi esque metal tho. it is my favorite genre.
@videogamerselite270 But melodic death metal also has singing and is usually soft, slow, and has weak drums and raspy vocals. This is guttural, fast, and quite brutal.
@ParalysisT3rror Not at all dude. I listen to a lot of melodic death metal, and most of them actually don't have clean vocals. The vocals vary depending on band, i.e. Amon Amarth uses only growling, and then there are bands like Kalmah and Dark Tranquillity that use growling and screaming. There is also melodeath that's pretty fast, such as Mors Principium Est, a band, along with At the Gates, whose drum-work is very good. What you just described is the "new" In Flames; they aren't melodeath.
@ParalysisT3rror my point was that BDM is the definition of melo death and they don't have soft singing, slow or weak drums. also these vocals are way more raspy than gutteral. if you want gutteral check out abominable putridity or devourment
@fuckamerica109 Melodic Death Metal is only half death metal, the other half is gothenburg heavy metal. Either way Neuraxis is some good melodic shit.
@ParalysisT3rror I agree with that last sentence, but what about if there's a band who's officially characterized as melodic death metal, but they just make a few good songs that are like straight technical or brutal death metal or some shit? Would they still be only half Death Metal then? It could go the other way around too, because CC has like one melodic song that i can think of.
This is not space metal by any means(Only Augury is spacemetal). I can say this is my favorite Neuraxis songs out of the ones I have heard. I met them back in 07'. A friend of mine had them come party at his house and I missed it. He got bleach on my Psycroptic shirt, and gave me a Neuraxis shirt.
spacemetal isn't real. augury is beautiful though.... check out nocturnus, obscura, rings of saturn, etc... tell me if you think that's space metal...nocutrnus themes are entirely based on sci-fi
@ProstheticRecords is it possible to upload all the tracks from this album cause i have no money to buy this id like to hear this album from its entirity. Cause i have heard this whole album before in the past and it awesome i miss listing to all the songs.

@videogamerselite270 how is this melodic death metal? if it were melodic death metal it wouldn't be actual death metal
ParalysisT3rror 6 months ago
@ParalysisT3rror So silly. Melodic riffs = melodic. Melodic + death metal elements = melodic death metal. Like Amon Amarth, for example.
