I never can understand why people who video concerts always keep the camera on the conductor. He is not the one making the sound. And, this one needs a straight jacket.
@jgesselberty who do you think wrote those sounds? don't answer that cuz you obviously don't know what your talking about. but in case there's any question, check the name on every video clip to the right. oh, and 2 comments up... yeah, i'm talking to you too! "my god, this conductor is awful." awful - LY popular on youtube.
@jgesselberty i apologize for using your your comment as the podium from which to conduct these deliberate euphemisms, but yours is the one that deserves most to be chewed up and spit back it your face, so here goes - that's so funny cuz I never could understand why people who video concerts always keep the camera on the front man, (singer... ROCKSTAR!) He is not the one making the sound?!! so who's that madman on stage playing the human instruments like demonic possession plays with flesh?
@christocretes My, my. Aren't we angry. So my comment deserves to be chewed up and spit back in my face? I simply commented that the video kept the camera on the conductor and did not show the musicians. No one said that the conductor should not be shown, but that the entire effort requires both conductor and orchestra. Music making is a collaborative effort. Would you photograph La Gioconda and show only her smile?
I respectfully disagree, the orchestra isn't really doing what he wants if you listen carefully. This is a moment of panic for every conductor. Although the really good ones just keep doing their thing and will not be distracted...
@christocretes How do you know that the video is out of sync? If you think that the music comes too late, you're wrong because musicians always play a little later than the exact moment the baton flicks. Watch every other orchestral performance on youtube and you'll see the same.
And actually I wasn't talking about the tempo; the orchestra doesn't agree with him dynamically until 1:40. It's either that or he is just really energetic in his hand motions. And I'm guessing you're from Auckland :P
@zuzrwolrd the audio is too pristine. it doesn't fit the quality of the video. it was added later. btw, i'm an audio engineer. i see this all the time. this thing is way off, to the point that watching it begins to annoy me. it's like a bad kung-fu flick!
@zuzrwolrd do you have audio editing tools? if you do, then try syncing it; re-record the audio through your software. import the video. mute the original audio, line 'em up and see for yourself.
@zuzrwolrd have you studied theory & comp classically? if so, then you'll probably discredit this altogether but, i don't follow the baton hand. i watch the left, but i let the baton burn into the peripheral image of my focus. the baton is too ambient and lacks self control. the left hand is articulating the bass and mid range. i like "seeing" the bass. you know, you make some good points though, and the video rolled in & out of sync when i applied SMPTE to it soo, yeah, i think your right!
do you anything about conducting?? upstroke and downstroke?? its in sync, believe me, and the orchestra is not vibrant enough, not the conductors fault.

@zuzrwolrd I respectfully disagree as well, the orchestra isn't really doing what he wants because the audio track is out of sync with the video. :)

@zuzrwolrd plus he's dead on between 0:10 - 0:13 and 2:01 - 2:02. Really clean. :)

@zuzrwolrd then again...
it was never my thought that the music comes too late, but that it was leading. 2:01 - 2:02 i still think it does.
