One time I did this, and Bowser was the one who refused to finish. After a LONG, LONG while (and I swear I'm not making this up!) he made it across to the GREEN area and started to freeze up. The game started glitching and the Bowser sprite started moving from up to down the screen like movie credits - at first lightning fast then at a snails pace. I turned the game off.

You can place first and still get this to work just by looking at the time of the racer who hit whatever you dropped. You have to drop it at a certain spot right before the ramp so they hit it and cant make the jump. Ive had 3 carts at a time not making it before. I used to do this for hours. There time at the end would be all letters and weird symbols. It was like it took him days to finish lol. It was great.

What makes this even funnier is that DK Jr. seems to CHEER each time he misses the jump.

I saw this happen on my game too, but I never had TWO of them not make it. For some reason, if you finish above 8th place on this track, the game doesn't allow the CPU racer that's in 8th to clear the jump.

I always hated when I got 'ranked out' if you happened to finish the race between 5th and 8th place. Whenever I lost all my lives, it's automatically 'game over'

Yeah this is very common in the 50cc class on Mario Circuit 2, and the racers will change depending on who you are. It will always be last place that can never make the jump but as you've shown it can sometimes end up where two racers can't make it.

Lol, i discovered that glitch on my snes, you have to deposite a banana or shell in second accelerator (>>) and they are gonna stay doing circles for 2 minutes

and toad is traspassing the wall, i noticed it when i was eating and i finished in 5th xD

i love this race track because i mess up other racers really bad by leaving items on the speed boost ramp or shooting them at racers right before the moment they jump the ramp but you'd have to place the item in a certain spot since the game runs cpu carts in some kind of one-laned path.

This is quite common of the bottom racers (especially on the lower classes) to be run at a slow enough speed that they fail to clear the jump (due to not moving fast enough, like if you crawl up to the speed zones and then try to use them to jump over), and they can fail any number of times before making it over (if they ever do).

Besides that, the game also runs the NPC racers at slightly different speeds to try to preserve the ranking order (you've probably noticed that when you wipe out a front-runner, as the race goes on, they often manage to speed their way back into proper position).

What happens is that when you're in front of other racers, especially in the upper classes, the computer boosts their speed to catch up to you (that's why they always seem to be riding your ass no matter what you do). Likewise, when you fall behind, the dwarf the speed in an attempt to give you a bit of a chance to catch up to them.
