Its like if a parent records her baby's first step, while a radio is on. That video would contain unintended recording of music PLUS the intended sound that would go with the baby's first step. To mute the music would mute the other sounds too.
If I am recording an event, and copyrighted music gets played off a radio or speakers during an event, that I did not turn on, is it fair to use it?
Sometimes there will be a major event, such as a Polar Bear swim, next week. Such events are sometime covered by a radio station which will be broadcast live, with music. I am not there to record the music. I am there to record the Polar Bear swim. But the radio plays the music while I record the event which CAUSES the music to be recorded.
I'm confused because I make dance videos to other people's songs and my account is "Not in good standing" but they said that I don't need to take my videos down. I didn't see anything in this video about how dancing to someone's song is illegal or not...
I'm still kinda confused. Youtube is saying that I;m using copyrighted material about the song but arn't I protected under the law or something? I gave full credit and everything but Youtube is blocking my Monster video in all countries. I think I need more help about this as I spent forever on that video and I don't want it to be deleted or taken off. I also don't want a strike iest my account.....
this is useful but youtube needs to reform the way in which it enforces the copyright laws, I can understand blocking an entire video when all it is is a song playing and no critique or anything like that but why is my latest video having copyright issues when I only use sections of songs give full credit and am using them in a mashup way?
So why does the gov't not help to educate us on this? How come it's not made clear and usable for those outside the legal profession? So how come the length of copyright continues to increase without public vote / involvement?
If the fair use is my friend....WHY I GET BLOCKED VIDEOS???....STUPID SHITTY LAWS SUCKS EGGS DAMN FOOLS

What happens if music is just ambient background sound, perhaps coming from a radio while you are recording OTHER things not related to the radio?

Before anyone gets to excited about it remember that this an American point of view.
Which means that in any other country the law might be completely different.
