Who knew back in '66 that GE would own NBC some twenty years later?
In those days GE was involved with the manufacture/sale of color TV sets and also color TV cameras (for local stations; home video camcorders weren't available to the U&I till much later).
I would love to see Thomson revive the GE name for electronics. Wal-Mart would be a logical retail point since they already carry GE-branded small appliances.

@skatty14 No, there were co-ed schools in the 60s. In fact, there's a clip on the Tube of a 1959 episode of GE College Bowl which had a woman on the USC team.
Given that, at 0:09, Kostman of Princeton and Bell of Agnes Scott both signaled at the same time, I would imagine the show must have not had an effective lockout system back then.
I was on the Davidson team of 1969 and am lucky enough to have tapes of 3 games (we won five). When I got them I called up Robert Earle (having found his number on the internet) to ask if he had the other two. Turns out he didn't have any at all and was really thrilled to get copies of the ones I had to show to his grandchildren!

There was a local version of "COLLEGE BOWL" produced on many NBC affiliates, called "IT'S ACADEMIC", which dealt with high school competitors. Art James was the host on WNBC-TV in New York, Saturday nights at 7pm. Do any of THOSE exist?
There are still a few. "It's Academic" still airs on WRC in Washington, D.C. with the same host since 1961, Mac McGarry. Two more editions sprung up in nearby markets: on WJZ in Baltimore, Md., and WWBT in Richmond, Va. The Central Virginia show has since moved to WVIR in Charlottesville.

I love how Princeton, the school with the seminary, has students that doesn't know the names of the theologians :)

Anyone notice that the Princeton men still have narrow ties here? It's 1966 but it looks like 1956.

The host looks like a cross between a young Brent Musburger and Woody Allen....XD

The actual date of this episode of GE College Bowl was March 6, 1966, as evidenced by the appearance of the Alamo in the GE spot shown here.

What did Steve Kahler eventually major in? And what is he doing these days?
