Adams regularly hits decent averages in the 90's, and he'd be around the top ten in the PDC in my opinion. Maybe he's simply happy in the BDO, and doesn't feel the need to switch. He's stated before that he likes captaining England for the BDO, Good players aren't obligated to switch to the PDC, as Darryl Fitton, Scott Waites and Tony O'Shea prove, and they to are good enough to mix it with the PDC guys if they so wished, and Adams definitely could to.

All those who claim that Adams would struggle in the PDC, that's a bit rich. ALL darts players are entitled to opt for whichever organisation they want. Wolfie has opted to stay with the BDO has have O'Shea, Hankey, Walton, Waites plus many others. Adams would fair very well in the PDC as he is a proven top quality player but that is like saying that many of the top PDC players would fair well in the BDO also for the same reason. It's not the organisation that matters, it's the player's class.

@coracleman Any true "champion" once they had won 1 version of the title would want to prove themselves against the best, for the sporting challenge. That's why apart from the money aspect so many have moved. Adams just likes being the big fish in the little pond. If he looks in the mirror and calls himself World Champion then i pity (then laugh) at him. He's merely a top 10 player at the very best.

@maxpaynekat Yes he bloody would. I hate the BDO and am not for what Adams stands for with his PDC stance but Adams is a good player, and would easily be in the top 16 if he came to the PDC. Although the only way that will happen is if they join back up which is highly unlikely but apparently the BDO's Annual Meeting this weekend is going to be met with some anger by some BDO stalwarts about player treatment. So you never know, Adams could yet end up in the GSOD.

@angrygamer1 Barney was different back then, he came straight in to the PDC and won nearly everything. Chisnall is doing well for his first PDC season., the other dutch have not done well in the PDC really, well Klaasen started well but Adams was always a top BDO player when they were there he just bottled it. Adams now averages about 95 I think in the World's which although isn't show stopping would consistently get him in the later stages of tournaments. Adams would be up there for sure

@MrConnolly25 Looking at his usual averages I'd say in the PDC he would be a very average player. Whitlcok and Anderson have greatly up'd their game since joining the P.D.C and I'd say if he played either of them now over a long distance he would be a heavy underdog

@alsum501 Averages are pretty meaningless.Lewis won the Worlds with an average overall average.Anderson has alwys played like he does now,his problem has always been holding himself together.I would back Adams heavily to beat Anderson in the PDC worlds & Whitlock who also bottles it.In a sets match Taylor is the only man who i'd put my house on beating Adams.Lewis's form was terrible & he won the title apart from Taylor the rest are inconsistent are much of a muchness IMO

I hate the PDC it's all money and glamour with that annoying da dada da dada da dada dada dada da music in between each set. The BDO is all about what it is supposed to be about, the darts. Who cares if the PDC has the best players most of them came from the BDO anyway at least Martin Adams who truly loves the game has (to date) stayed loyal. He isn't scared of the PDC look at this vid, he has beaten an established PDC player. Sky has ruined darts.

Darryl Fitton has never played in the PDC world matchplay and who cares if Martin Adams plays in BDO and won't leave, he likes to play at all levels be it county, super league, for England, open events or world titles.

However, I'm not entirely sure, but I believe Barry Hearn enforced the rule that if you are affiliated to the PDC, you are to only play in PDC Tournaments. Naturally, the BDO followed suit. I think that this was catalyst for Adam's intense dislike of Barry Hearn, and the reason why he will not play in the Grand Slam!!

Yes because players, after the Tomlin Order Ruling, were allowed to play in the other organisations' tournaments apart from their World Championship. I believe Darryl Fitton from the BDO played in the 1997 PDC World Matchplay, and Alan Warrine-Little who was one of the original 14 breakaway players reached the final of the 1999 BDO World Masters!!
