  • where did you get all those trains

  • What is the Mould stuff called?

  • Say when is the second episode coming out to Youtube?

  • James Face At 04:53

  • DO NOT CUT THAT GORDEN I'VE SEEN HIM GO FOR $500 THEY'ER THAT RARE!!!! Tomy james face

  • DO NOT CUT THAT GORDEN I'VE SEEN HIM GO FOR $500 THEY'ER THAT RARE!!!!

  • that was a tomy james face.

  • I've got a Henry ERTL with a paper face and 4 missing wheels.

Do you think its worth anything?

  • I want to make a silicon mold so I can make another boiler for my Tyco 4-6-0, is it possible to remake an exact casting with the resin?

  • @leokimvideo why is HiT Entertainment are on a war path closing Thomas tubers? reply please

  • can i have 7 molded andy face a 3 axsul bogy and tow tobys and and a andy body with wels

  • the face is from eather James or Percy

  • is your controller an ertl or a take along

  • the face is james

  • I think the Fat Controller is innocent, sending Thomas into the sidings to rid of Andy.

Of course, Thomas was blown to pieces...

  • put some wiring between the engine and the tender and some weatherinng on the models

  • @theshedrailway i found a paper face percy buried in my front yard

  • I have a brand new Fat Controllers, a Thomas, a Noel (percy), 2 flat cars, 1 "Sodor Fuel" tank car, Annie and Clarabel, 1 Bertie the Bus, Cranky the Crain, and Caroline(the old car). Tell me if you want any of these, and if you do, BLOW IT/THEM UP!

  • The face u put on is from James, right?

  • If you want to keep the character of the engine (i.e. chassis appearance) why not paint the bogie sides in the appropriate colour? Great vid. Great idea about mounting them on 00/H0 bogies, too - I've been doing a few and I'm going to make a parody as well (at least when I've got a model railway to shoot it on!)

  • is the fas you put on gordan is it thomas

  • Ive got an idea.

Your saying that alot of people say that replacing the Wheels on the Ertl Models makes them loose their character abit. Why not spray the replacement wheels/bogeys on each Engine their correct colours, EG Henry will have green, James will have Red so on.

  • whens the next mab bomber vid?

  • @theshedrailway it's still in production, remember right now Hit E are on a war path closing Thomas tubers, now is not the time to upload anything Thomas related.

Have a look around at all the suspended accounts, literally hundreds of tubers gone.

  • @leokimvideo but you will upload the next vid if you can

  • @leokimvideo Hit also screwed up when they changed to cgi, thinking that it would be cheaper Now they have to sell the show.

  • @leokimvideo Well Leo, a year later... How's progress?

  • @leokimvideo this is really becoming a problem.

  • Where is Sir Tophem Hatt's Arm?

  • is that a sort of resin that you used to make the copies for andy?

  • Those "Two Deisils" are named Arry and Bert

  • 2:36 If you switch an engine's Bogies, couldn't you just spray paint it to the engine's matching color?

  • dont kill the paper face gordon they ARE rare

  • @MrTrainboy1

too late it got the chop...silly me

  • @leokimvideo is a edward with a paper face rare?

  • @MrTrainboy1 i got a paper face precy r they rare?

  • If you want some ERTL deals on ebay, i just bought a gordon with the new cuppleing a few minutes ago. his name is bingobaily. He has a lot of them, i also got an ERTL Frank from him.

  • @Myself

there is also a good user called smtemac

  • I think that the ERTL Arry and Bert are closer to the TV show.

  • I don't know if this has come up allready but in the video you said that converting the ERTL models to HO Scale wheels can kind of the cherecter away. Well my idea is paint the wheel sets the color of the engine. I don't know for sure because I'm yet to try it myself on all the Bachmann brand trains that I have, but it might just work. Oh I also really like your cloning idea. I might just try it on the Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and Babylon 5 figurines that I have. Keep it up.

  • Comment removed

  • And if you want, I will make you molds of some of the trains that you may need.

  • ERTL is and always will be my favorite type of diecast train for collector's, take along is sadly squished, the day I got them when I was young, I was disappointed in their look. However, ERTL trains today are very rare, I was lucky to get a lot of them, my bro likes to use them as collecting and movies, since you inspired him to do some neat films. He is a very big fan of you and would like to say, thank you for giving him a cool hobby! I also have the ERTL Frank the diesel.

  • One point on the take alongs I believe the kids really enjoy playing with them. Children would not notice they are out of dimension and the magnet coupling is far better than the ERTL plastic clip and pin.

I chose ERTL as it was prior to take alongs and like you state the ERTL's look pretty good for their very small size.

  • Very true. ERTL did attempt to continue the line after they made a better coupling system for engines, but was discontinued with the line in 2004. Ever since, it has been very hard to find several trains. I got BoCo for 1 dollar at an antique shop.

  • I too see ertl's in old shops collecting dust, much of my collection was picked up from a model railway shop which was closing, and the ERTL's were literally being thrown away as new unopened. Some of which went into my video comp last year.

  • It might be expencive, but maybe you can use Hornby trains for some of the larger locos...

  • I totally agree, the obvious choice would be make it all HO guage, and like you said the cost would skyrocket.

I chose ERTL's way back in 1999 due to their low cost ,and they look pretty good for such a small toy. Sadly the Take Along's don't cut it and look all squashed up, mind you they are a excellent children's toy.

  • hi im a huge fan of the original madbomber when is the next one out

  • i thought this was a graff vid

  • dont cut up the gordon you have, there isnt much of them

  • can you email me some simple steps of how you clones the diesels please and what materials u used???? :) g8 work

  • i was just following the same sorta steps as leo and i used woodland scenics latex rubber and plaster of paris which has worked out pretty well in my case.

  • Did you use cilcone or oerphane spet wrong lol?

  • Man I'm impressed by all those train customizations. A vast collection too, the closest thing I have to a collection like that is my collection of action figures from Star Wars, Star Trek and what not. I used to do something like this in my own Project "Space Battles" named after the famous website until I switched to CGI; but I could never have been as talented as this. Keep up the good work.

  • That face...Henry.

  • how do u put in the mods i tryed PVA

  • If You need any other Ertle trains, I have a lot of em somewhere.

  • Thanks, I will keep this in mind.

  • I'm not sure but the paper face gordon could have been a rare model, I used to have a lot of these trains but gave them away, oh well.

  • Very nice. :) I cannot wait to see episode two. It's going to be amazing!

  • Could u make a video on how to duplicate engines

  • 6:02 You blew up Alan!

  • how do you put an HO boggey on an ERTL model?

  • It is very easy. I did one to old slow coach and it works like a charm. You have tounscrew the bottom of the engine and remove the black thing holding the wheels. You may have to remove the buffers so it fits. You wil then get an engine with TWO or more holes that jet out of the bottom. Just screw in the bogie and u are done. Keep it lose so it turns the corners

  • thanks

  • Sure. Why dont u check out my contest video. Type in Byavasrocks for it to show up

  • 4:53 not sure, might be james or percy.

  • im pretty sure it is

  • 4:53 its james' face

  • Why were the front hooks on some of the models cut off?

  • Some are higher than the opposite hook on the car and that tilts the car.

  • y dont you use hornby

  • cos hornby is bloody expensive for one!

  • OK, i'll help you with names. The fat controler is "Sir Topam Hat". The black deisel is named "Deisel". I know, that's weird but thats his name! Oh, and I hope you make The Mad Bomber Episode 2 soon!

  • 9:05, why does he only have one arm!

  • well that was so cool how do you make yor videos

  • Hey Leo,

Is there any chance you could make an in depth 'how to' video on how you make your resin moulds and castings as seen in this video?

I am thinking about making some resin casts for some model trains I want to make. But I really dont know what I need or where to start.

I hope you concider my sugestion.

    Hiesler

  • Hi Hiesler.

I will do a video on this subject, plenty of people have asked this question and I really only skim the topic over so far.

I'm hoping to pull this off using only everyday hardware materials and not the expensive professional products which are basically made for speed of work and finish.

Sorry for the big delay in reply I did keep this mail sitting in the box for a few weeks so I would not forget.

  • No worries, I look forward to seeing it.

  • I think you should make a copy of the origonal james but change it a bit so they aren't the same like a different face, number and paint job or something close and add a short clip of sir topham hat saying he is a replacement for ted after his terrible accident (may he rest,in,peace) ill understand if you dont want to do it

  • Thats clever, but watch out the series has many sets of twins, and when is a twin a clone.

  • is gordons face edwards?

  • i must say this is quite interesting! :)

i've learned to make the silicon molds. but out of curiosity, what is the casting product you use? is it plaster?

  • It's called fast cast, it's a two part casting agent which is actually very expensive, it pulls great detail and is fast to work with.

It sets very hard and is quite easy to work with files and drills. It is far more robust than plaster.

  • It's a shame ypou actually blow up ERTL models. You could make copies of the models for others in Kit form.

  • I like Gordon and Henry in the 4-6-0 wheel arrangement.

  • The ones with paper faces were the first batch ever made and are worth a smalol fortune to collectors. Hope you haven't cut him up.

  • Sorry he got the chop, I actually found in a old shop a number of paper faced ERTL's.

I never knew they were worth anything special until people here saw the video.

  • I like the blue diesels with the 2-axle truck sets.

  • I had issues getting 3 wheel sets, some of the Andy clones actually have two wheel sets, generally no one can see the difference.

Changing the wheels has really caused much interest, I am quite surprised, and for someone who is not a model train modeler I am happy it's a winner.

  • James face

  • I'll probably know about the 2 axle bogies even if painted black scince I did see the pin wire pulling the trains in episode 1.

  • "They might be smiling here, but they've got some evil plans...installed in the railway..."

Dang, that increased the suspense level tenfold.

  • where do u get sicken sorry i carnt spell

  • Are There any Parts/Roles Available For Audition In Your Series.

  • ITS TED'S FACE(or James)

plus i have a really damaged oliver ertl its face is gone somewhere the funnel is bent and the paint is really chipped ill have to try to find it

  • yeh if you need any of my ertl trains i live in sydney so ill mail them to you.

  • y did they stop makeing the Ertl modles ?they look beter

  • Cool. Nice project. Your really good at this.

  • so this series is alot more intricate and complex then most people think when they first watch the movie

  • I think that face is Edward's face!

  • i reckon its percy or james or donald/douglas

  • But donald and douglas' faces are molded on to the model. they're steel faces that won't came off, buut maybe percy's or edward's face.

  • Really good Vlog!

  • I know, it'll probably take a LOT time and energy and work, but, in episode 3 maybe, could you introduse some Electric engines? Please?

  • Model use was very popular in the 70's for movies. One of the main shows that used models was Doctor Who.

  • Comment removed

  • hey what about some repaints like a red HENRY called jack and add some smoke delectors that would look smashing

and if you need a Rheneas or Another blue diesel message me your address and ill see if i can post it to you

i live in south victoria so it shouldnt be a problem

  • How expensive are these 3 axle bogies?

  • I was picking them up for $3 AUD, mind you it was from a shop which was closing down. (all plastic parts)

  • Wow, I wonder if you did that with the Take Along model of Henry. Please can you send me instructions on how to make my own? How possible can that be?

  • Why not order more online?

  • hey leo, I Have an idea for also putting HO Bogeys on your ERTL bogey coach and mailcar!

Put HO Bogeys(The kind that runs both on straight and curved track) on them just like you did with the front wheels on your tender engines, just screw them on, and there! now you will be able to use more curved track in the next episode of rolling stock!

  • when are you going to amke more videos

  • good use of silcon we to were taught that in chem

  • and do you know where i can find some 00 gauge spoke wheels for my ertl models so i can motoriz for my railway seires ?

  • its jamesess face

  • But I thought you changed James's name to Ted.

  • where did you get the silicon and casting product from?? awesome job!! really enjoying your videos..

  • I guess they will roll better now.

  • maybe you could paint the wheels to brighten up trains

  • That face looks like James' face

  • I made very small moulds with silicone, and in fact they were done in drink bottle lids, then cast the little faces, the Diesel was cast up 25 times over 3 moulds, again that took some time, the wheels on the diesels are both screwed on.

  • very interesting! im actually thinking of applying some of your techniques to make some ertl engines into n-scale models...thank-you for the info =)

  • how do you make the faces? and attatch the wheels to the base?

  • how do u attacth the boggies to the ertl engines?

  • The wheel sets are sometimes screwed in, or glued using a glue called Tarzans Grip, the plastic used on the ERTL's does not take to superglue, each engine had different fit out, so that was very time consuming, I converted around 50 models, it was a big job.

  • I love what you're doing, it's great just to have fun and make films like this for the hell of it. Especially as the new Thomas series is made from CGI and doesn't have the same feel as the models. Good work and if you need any post production effects doing, I'd love to get involved.

  • Good question, sorry for taking so long to reply. As it stood the Douglas engine did not speak in the first episode, it appeared in a ghost video, and made a brief appearance delivering the video cameras, I tend to only give names if the engines have a speaking role, not sure exactly where it fits in next episode, maybe the mad bomber will knock him off before he has a chance to talk.

  • I saw a paper face Thomas model, Sealed, Go for $100 on eBay

  • I went back to the shop where I found the paper face Gordon, I found a paper face James (he's the red one..??) I was a good boy and explained to the people selling it to maybe have a price higher than $2.00 on it. I believe they are now selling it on e-bay.

I learned the hard way, would hate to see someone else loose out.

  • In the first episode, when Thomas almost meets "his maker" with the first bombing, your description of the damage to him

totally cracks me up! Almost so violent, yet so innocent and mellow. Thomas looked blown to bits. "Thomas lie up-side-down with severe burns..." Beautiful downsizing the catastrophe!

I look forward to the next episode!

  • Had to laugh at this comment, and I think there is a line "and the coal trucks were completly deatroyed", thats because I only had 4 of them, and I needed them all.

Don't worry, I have plenty of logs to put on the next fire, and you will see destruction like none other.

  • sir, you are a genious! I cant wait for these next episodes! But still, take your time

  • Thanks, believe me if I could have it made now it would be, maybe the time required to do such work will be realised by the many people who keep asking for a release date.

Please think of this time as the quiet before the storm.

  • Dont worry about it, I can wait. I just know this next one will be awsome!

  • Do u have plans to make normal thomas episodes as well as your own?

  • I only have plans to do a episode 2 and 3. With them will be behind the scenes videos, and very soon a competition which will attract much attention, its running a little behind, I am aiming for the end of Jan 2009.

  • y dont you use the picture of the diesels all lined up in black and white as a shed picture and put a bar light behind them to make it look like daytime

  • From what I've seen, this episode will feel like a movie! Oh btw I thought the mad bomber was the Fat Controller.

  • How did you cut the tender from the trains body?

  • Very smoothly done and educational! Keep up the excellent vids~

  • you could put small moters in the trains

  • in the series will toby be called toby

  • maybe, he's a bit of a classic, I don't think he talks..

  • cound you give me info of how to cut the tender off (not heping this vid)

  • its very simple, pull apart your toy, have only the dicast main piece, carefully hacksaw the desired area, also cut the plastic wheel base in the same area, fill up the gaps with styrine, add a little spring to couple, screw to base, dress wheels, paint, play..

  • This question has been bugging me since the release of Rolling Stock...

Is the LPG gas tank the case for the toy inside Kinder eggs? (chocolate eggs with toy inside)

  • yes, they are the older style kinder egg, the new ones have a easy open indent in them.

they are a little too big but I will live with that, i used to collect kinder toys, these days i just eat the chocolate.

  • the new kinder egg toys suck. You dont put anything together.. i like the old school ones where you have to put your toy together. Those were fun.

  • I have to agree with that comment, yes the older Kinder toys were great, I remember getting little plastic kits in breakfast cereal, and in saying that I have given away my age,,!

Then again there are Happy Meal toys, they can be cool to collect.

  • man you'd have some FUN if u had a 3d printer.

  • and thank you for the infow

  • where did you get the HO runners from?

  • a very good question, all my train stuff and new ERTL purchases came from a model train shop which was being closed down, all the stock was being sold off, this same shop was where I went to buy stuff for episode 1.

apart from wheels I picked up buildings, a windmill, lots of track, scale people and power transformers.

  • Are you going to make molds out of any of the other characters? especially the ones you can't find anymore? You could use decals for the numbers and windows and things like that.

  • How did you get the HO bogeys on the models? and how did you attach the tender to the main engine after you cut it off (I know the spring holds them together, but how did you attach the spring between them)?

  • thats a percy face

  • its james's

  • How do the models move? FROM LIAMANNA
