  • USA Not at war LOL, I'll believe that when they stop trying to shove a leesh up everyone's ass. pardon the french, so to speek.

  • yo this fuckin gravel is a little bitch

he probably sits at home jerking off to youtube video all day

  • Mr. Gravel you say that no other candidate is for real change. What about Ron Paul?

    Peace!

  • Ron Paul is a feckless idiot. Wake up kiddo.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE!!!!

  • Mr. Gravel is our LION of politics. He ROARS! Thank goodness!!! Why do you think people put lions out in front of their houses? TO PROTECT THEM from harm/evil. SUPPORT THE LION!!!

  • Gravel rocks.

  • for taking questions from people in this way i applaud you..however ,and i guess you knew that was coming, americans are better..based not on the past but the present why else would it be a beacon of freedom and sanctury for so many....ireland loves you...if people didnt buy weapons you would have no marketas was said inthe movie "gladiator".."i have seen much of the world it is dark and ugly, rome (america) is the light....

  • the guy's question is good, but the way he rocks backwards and forwards makes him look stoned...!

  • "If the words "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" don't include the right to experiment with your own consciousness, then the Declaration of Independence isn't worth the hemp it was written on."

  • hello

  • Damn right!!!

America is not #1 is most things. And I am an american patriot! I love america!

Being a patriot is not "blind patriotism" (like faux news & the neo-cons want you to think). Being a patriot is loving your country enough to fix it's problems, make it better, and to make your country loved around the world (not hated)!

Vote Libertarian! (the position of our forefathers)

    Vote Mike Gravel!

  • 2007 report HDI

  • "The Human Development Index (HDI) is the normalized measure of life expectancy, literacy, education, standard of living, and GDP per capita for countries worldwide. It is a standard means of measuring well-being, especially child welfare. It is used to determine and indicate whether a country is a developed, developing, or an underdeveloped country. It is also used to measure the impact of economic policies on quality of life."

  • How do I read those numbers?

  • "A HDI of 0.8 or more is considered to represent "high development".US was 12th, United States 0.951 (▼ 4)

"▼" represents a decrease in the rankings.

    2006 HDI Ranking 1. Norway 2. Iceland 3. Australia 4. Ireland 5. Sweden 6. Canada 7. Japan 8. United States 9. Switzerland 10. Netherlands

However someone better informed than me should answer your question.I think there are a few things to know when using the data e.g. 2007 report doesn't refer to 2007.I know little.

  • Thanks!

  • You really don't keep up with the news do you? Kucinich dropped out and Gravel is now a Libertarian. I think you knew that and you were just kidding. I hope.

  • I love this man

  • He has alot of time, Obama and Clinton are busy

  • Who is Mike representing? Environmentalists who want USA off oil and gas, carbon; women and other folks who value human life, those who support and advocate for civil liberties like ACLU members, those who want a new investigation of 911, those who want truth to be told in our society, those who want smart transportation (like mag lev trains), those who want to see their family members released from jail for a minor drug use offense, those who want fairness in media. Come gather round, people.

  • Wow, this guy is impressive..."first thing Americans have to do is get away from thinking ourselves superior to others, we are not better than everyone else, and in fact in many areas we don't do nearly as good a job", "phony patriotism", "secondly Americans..." These are words I've never heard an American politician say in my life! If I was an American, this is the man I would vote for.

  • ...a lot of politicians around the world do good when they leave politics, leave office...they wait to do good after they leave...that's not the story of Mike Gravel.

This man exposed the corruption of the US govt while he was in the US Senate. He went all the way. What sort of person does that? Someone crazy or a visionary. Naturally the US

ESTABLISHMENT WAS NOT HAPPY. Arms manufacturers do not like people like Senator Gravel. I like him very much and if any one deserved a Noble Peae Prize...

  • I feel as if Ohama, Hilary and MaKane satrt the day off with fried brains and bacon (all these three poeple are very religeous. Or is this part of the future gene-pool for Korp-bots?

    Someone KNOWS !! and ...

  • Also, be Brave and show up, YOU LOSER !!!!

  • The military-industrial complex and its supporters are braver when they drop their bombs from a safe distance.

Have you seen GWB, Dick Cheney, Obama, Clintons in the trenches recently? ...or do they prefer to hang out with the arm manufacturers and media that support violence?

  • Whoever it is that's trolling OUR SITE

    has NO LIFE !!!!!!!!!

Sen. Gravel, you might be too intelligent for

some SUPER idiots or they are

    fussed up on COOLAID.

Keep going on, Senator Gravel 2008 !!!

troller get a life, please !!

    for the good of everyone.SORRY.

  • This is a great video. Yes, the world needs to see political issues from a more altruistic and global perspective. Nation-States are way too egotistical. It's true that I am learning to see myself as global before being American (yesterday, I got cheap soccer jerseys of the US and Mexico. I also made a Japanese meal, I wrote a few emails in French and Spanish, I looked at a few books on world travel and worked on my modern Greek...).

  • people need to realize how "politics" actually effects our lives and get involved. People trust that the government knows what it's doing. And what most of us know is that they're doing a HORRIBLE job and that the common man can do a better job just using common sense.

    ni4d us

  • "People trust that the government knows what it's doing",changing the context of words;I think that the US govt knows what its doing as it bring destruction and havoc in so many place around the world. What I do not think is that most Americans know these realities.

I will make my little steps for Gravel so that, I can help him take big strides, for the US & this fragile world of our.

  • I think its more like how Madeline Albright put it. We're all just collateral Damage in their money schemes. I'm pretty worried about the simple fact that all of Americas collateral is being traded on wall street again. We're definitely at a tipping point as Mike has put it.

  • Right on, Mike Gravel! You are the best because you have the guts to tell the truth, before putting your political career first.

  • Question for Gravel, who IS better than us? I think the American people should know this so we can start sucking up to them and asking for foreign aid. Will we have to embrace that country's style of government? Does the European Union count as a country?

Let's all be dependent together! Peace!

  • Which country is the number one recipient of foreign aid from the United States?

  • the military industrial complex and corporate America are sucking America dry

  • "the military industrial complex and corporate America are sucking America dry",...and a lot of the world

  • You may not scramble eggs but you can always make a good omelet.

Gravel is one of the forces that brings integrity to this race. He's our omelet.

  • *unscramble

  • Thank you both for your comments. I agree that our current government is not interested in peace, it is interested in power. It claims that for there to be peace, we have to fight. Well ladies and gentlemen, fighting for peace is much like fucking for virginity (excuse the analogy, but I had to make a point). When the love of power is overcome by the power of love, humanity will know peace. When was the last time you heard of the U.S. initiating world peace talks?? I can't remember that far.

  • I wonder what youtube will do when, RON PAUL and MIKE GRAVEL are in the White House.

    VOTE RON PAUL.

  • Or Mike Gravel. ;-)

  • Obama wants change. Gravel wants peace.

You tell me who's more specific.

  • Kool-Aid anyone?

  • Obama wants Obama. Gravel wants you and I and all Americans to have the National Initiative, power to make changes. That would be the basis of real change. Without the National Initiative, it's all talk. Gravel wants to remove troops from Iraq in 120 days and let other nations determine their own future AND work with other nations as equals to bring about better solutions to problems. Have you read about the National Initiative and considered it?

  • Our nation's number one export is weapons. To quote him from another conversation about nuclear weapons: "How sick is that?" Is anyone else ashamed to live in a country where our number 1 export is weapons of destruction?

  • Is it really our number 1? That's frightening.

  • Center for Defense Information, Arms Trade

cdi dot org slash friendlyversion slash printversion dot cfm?documentID=4116

  • weaponry is obviously our number one priority. certainly not health care or education.

  • hi again hacks,

it's not weapenery either, in a capitalistic country it's always money. Think about it, our nation is doing very bad compared too China, Britain, Japan... We're not nearly as powerful as we were taught we are in schools, but US houses many of the richest men on Earth. It's the sad part of capitalism, those in charge only cae about their own money and run the nation for their own security, not the good of the nation. number one priority is money

  • Loving it! Carol

  • You can ask Steve Grove why Mike Gravel has been removed from THE YOUCHOOSE 08 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES PAGE SEARCH by going to the youtube dot com site and enter a slash and citizentube

  • I love you Gravel. Please post more videos. I love to hear from you about issues.

  • Don't worry, they'll make more. The campaign is nearing its 100th video!

  • Good but do more!

  • It's up to u what u do with ur life. But getting distracted to blind u from the facts is no way of living. Do good things because is the right thing to do, not because someone told u to do it. Don't let the mind control the inner u. The inner u should control the mind. With positive productive thinking we can improve our civilized society for everyone. Hope u can help in ur community.

  • Hillbama = not peace.

Help America Gravel, make your campaign bigger. :(

  • Donate money and he sure can!

  • Gravel Kucinich sure would have been nice! There is just going to have to be some violence to get these bastards out of power because its all they understand or respect! I wish all we needed was love but i'm not sure the war profiteirs care about love!

  • Very few care about love anymore.

  • Very few care to open profess the importance of love anymore. Most humans on this planet do care very much about love. It's the disturbed and violent who try to destroy and undermine the influence of love. LOVE is the real underlying human currency--not money!!! We cannot keep going unless we value love. As usual, Mr. Gravel has it right.

  • O, God, make this Man President !

Let's empower ourselves with the NI and end corporate murder and mayhem !!!

    Gravel 2008 !!!Peace.

  • ni4d us

  • great question, GREAT answer. Gravel for president '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome

  • in a perfect world, Mike Gravel would be the proposed fronter runner for dems with ronpaul heading up the republicains as the canidate.

Then we could actually choose between two guys that make sense. But here we are again choosing between a douche and a turd. Why !!! Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • in a perfect world, gravel would run against paul.

  • "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."

    -John F. Kenned

  • There is a problem with this! Why are there only 600 views. GET THE MESSAGE OUT. YOU NEED TO MAKE SOME NOISE. I don't know but why not try to find a sexy hot girl to be a PR person. GET PEOPLE'S ATTENTION. People have been asleep for a long time. DO SOMETHING, YOU ARE UP AGAINST THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. All tatics should be on the table. AMERICA IS IMPLODING! This is a major turning point in history.

  • hotforwords, where are you?

  • That is why I like you soo much Mr. Gravel, a genius plan, to reform government in a way that it can never be corrupted, empowering the people.

Some people are still hesitant to come over to you, I'm trying to make them see, by logic, that you represent what they want in government.

I got a question, which government agencies would Mr. Gravel cut? CIA? FEMA? NSA? OSI? (how about abolishing the Federal Reserve)... Sorry I don't know to much on that, been busy myself, activism grassroots stuff.

  • I wish more of the candidates would address people directly, rather than participate in the dog and pony show of the corporate media. They jabber on about nonsensical matters, very rarely addressing the important issues. Unfortunately, emotional appeal is what many voters are attracted to. This is why the truly worthy candidates have either remained low in the polls or have dropped out.

Thank you, Mike Gravel. You're one of the few people who give me hope that America is not a hopeless country.

  • Hope is simply a state of mind that is often

passive. Hope, waiting, expectancy and disappointment are all of a cycle. Hope, by itself, may never lead to action. Love is a feeling, a state of mind and a call to action and an action. Through love our human adventures began. Without love, our journey as a species terminates in self destruction. This is another reason I support Mr. Mike Gravel's efforts. He truly understands what is most essential.

  • the cycle is the policy of appeasement, which is over-estimated/feared by Americans.

  • If I have the choice between seeing more love in the world and seeing more hope, I would rather see more love. If I have the choice between feeling more love in the world and feeling more hope, I would rather feel more love. If I have the choice about participating in the world out of hope or out of love, I would choose love.

  • I very much like this,"If I have the choice between seeing more love in the world and seeing more hope, I would rather see more love. If I have the choice between feeling more love in the world and feeling more hope, I would rather feel more love. If I have the choice about participating in the world out of hope or out of love, I would choose love."

  • American leaders are like paranoid men armed with nuclear weapons who are afraid of spiders. I've come to believe they truly are terrified of the horrible emptiness inside their hearts. Lacking feeling, they crave power as a substitute. Power is like a very addictive drug which has to be continually ingested in order to get the high. But the more you get, the more you need to feel powerful. The bad news is it's not possible to get enough to fill the empty heart. So more power has to be sought.

  • gravel for 08' i really like how he is straight up instead of kissing the peoples ass and lieing. hes the only one whos gonna do what he says GRAVEL!

  • Has Gravel addressed this issue. It may be irrelevant as it relates to our Constitution.

Google "military international Socialist US/USA, Inc." for documents. Comments, are sure encouraged.

Canadians may be our saving grace.

    Other news - March 11, 2008

"Canada and the U.S. have signed an agreement that paves the way for the militaries from either nation to send troops across each other's borders during an emergency..."

  • if you listen to mike and you still would even consider another candidate

    you didn't listen

  • I really enjoy listening to you Mike and think you have a great personality and heart (well, maybe to bold words for a person that has never met you, but that is the feeling I have). But in this specific question I have some trouble understanding what you mean. To me it seems like the question was about negative media content which leads to a very negative perception of the world. Who in media promotes real happiness, real love, real knowledge?

  • What do we learn about life on a daily basis through different media? I thought that was what Yaron asked and if you would promote that.(forgive me for asking this question if I have misunderstood what Yaron actually said)

  • Hey Mike, what is your opinion on Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzales running?

  • Ralph is a very nice guy, and we don't know much about Gonzales. Ralph is very good about identifying what the problems are, but he's not very good at creating solutions.

  • Dear senator:

You have a very good point, but there will always be a demand for wepeanery, disguised as essential "defense".

Even if all the countries ban weapon's export and trades, the cycle would only become more expensive as illegal arms. As a result, and the dear arms corporation that run nations would actually see an increase in their profits.

The arms would not disappear, they would just become more expensive.

    thank you,

PS: You definitely have my vote.

  • Weapons are the drug of war. Take the profit of weapons and you take the pushing out of war.

  • very true, too bad it won't happen.

  • hey telybilly. it won't happen with representative government and a dormant inactive society. Thats what Mike's challenging America to face up to.

  • hi oldhacks, this very system juices americans for the good of the hidden few who truly run the nation, all the way from it's wars and media to the miniscule details like social pressure on teens that trains them as over-consuming buyers. But by no means is this unique to US.

  • This is true, so true. Seat belts are good but mag lev trains are SO MUCH better!!!! Restrictions on corporations overreaching power are good but the National Initiative is better!!!!

  • This is why I like Gravel and Paul, they answer the question. They don't change the question to their liking. Gravel for President- NI4D(dot)us

  • Time to make some noise. Attach Mccain on his policies and his record. Make him respond to you. Speak as the nominee. The fight with the Military Industrial Complex, is a battle of wits. MAKE SOME NOISE!!!

    BEST OF LUCK MR. PRESIDENT.

  • nice answer gravel

the other candidates must go down!

  • It makes me really sad that nobody's acknowledging you. I honestly think that you and former Republican candidate Ron Paul are the best candidates for the job.

  • Thanks for your support!

Dr. Paul is *technically* still in the race, I think.

  • I hate to say this, but I think the comments about credit card debt in response to the Russert question and the your idea to move toward more direct democracy may have prevented your campaign from taking off. Granted, the odds were surely stacked against you from the beginning, but these things didn't help. I admire you sir. I admire you for what you did vis-a-vis the Pentagon Papers and the Vietnam draft. If is a shame that people like yourself and Ron Pail are treated as if you are crazy.

  • In fact, what all the other candidates were proposing was just more insanity, save Dennis Kucinich, who was too socialistic.

I wonder if you've considered an opt-out republic, rather than this direct democracy idea. That is, why not take self-determination to its next logical step and grant it to each individual. One who wished to be free of the government would need pay only user fees for the use of public infrastructure.

  • All money could be made electronic in a transparent financial system that would make regulating monetary flow easy. This would help keep those who opt out, but are considered a threat to society due to criminal conviction from profiting from criminal activity. Hence, those who opt out, but are criminals could largely be prevented form getting on in society and would have to answer for their wrongs before society would re-admit them. This would offer more accountability to government officials

  • Those who are disaffected can leave the republic and only pay for their impact to it, effectively depriving the government from the use of their tax dollars for spending they don't believe in, such as war spending. This should be the way to solve nationalist conflicts, as any number of people anywhere would be able to be independent. Food for thought?

  • Zeldovich.

the reason why we can't do it like that is because then you still leave our representatives directly in charge of our budget. which means more war and pollution. The only way we're going to stop the war on the middle as is if we get off of gas. we have to act collectively to do that if we're going to do it in a timely fashion so we need Government. period. but the only way you're going to get a carbon tax thats not corrupt is if it's written by the people that will be Paying it!

  • Nah, look, it would allow people like me to opt out who don't want to fund war spending and other wasteful or immoral activities. Under the system you describe, if the majority wants to fund the war, it will be funded and you will contribute toward it or face the consequences. That isn't freedom.

  • (war on the middle + East)

  • us being allowed to vote on issues and proposals is the only way we're ever going to get our country on the right path. Other nations get to vote on issues, why can't we? what makes Switzerland so special? or Venezuela? or the 24 states that have state initiatives. The National Initiative fits in perfectly with the internet giving Americans the ability to communicate with one another about the issues.

Vote for the right to vote

    ni4d us

  • Well, the problem is that there are issues that should not be a matter for the public to decide in a vote, such as those impacting minority rights. The whole problems with direct democracy is the danger inherent in tyrannical majorities who run wild over the rights of minority interests.

  • 1. Rights of minorities have been trampled on under the current system, haven't they?

The change came from the People, not Congress.

    2. Currently we have the minority (Congress and Corporate) running wild over the rights of the majority.

The majority votes in minority 1:Congress

Congress then plays pimp to minority 2: Corporate Theives

    The majority takes the screwing.

  • That's a very good way to put it.

  • What about how Wal Mart gets billions of dollars of our tax dollars? its no different except that Mike's organization is for Us. That's the only difference. That was a gotcha question just like the one Russert asked about Kucinich believing in UFO's. Funny how that was one one of the only questions he had prepared for Mike huh. And how he phrased the question to demonize the proposal.

  • Look, questions like that will come up in a presidential compaign and him saying he stuck it to the credit card companies and that they had it coming didn't earn him many votes. That's just political reality.

  • That is because too many people don't understand how the banks are sticking it to them.

  • I agree with all of your's (gmfutube)'s comments on this. Nice!

  • its not just the banks. thats where your misguided. It's ALL of them! its the structure of representative government itself. Where the power is yielded to the elites and they just pass the buck around and dance around the issues.

fix our broken republic by getting the people more involved by allowing them thet right to vote to make laws. Its so simple a monkey could figure it out yet we've been raised all our lives to not see it.

  • You're right, pure honesty doesn't get votes. You've got to play the game to win, but playing the game corrupts you.

  • If not saying you stuck it to the credit card companies for 80 grand, because they had it coming is playing the game...

  • Spot on!

  • PoliticalAnalysis, behind every great man or woman is a great staff;keep up the great work! Thanks from an appreciative foreigner.

  • i don't understand why we can't trade with all these countries which we want to bomb; wouldn't this be profitable for us and the other countries involved? well said sir, you are my hero.
