I love analyzing systems regardless if they are computers or biochemistry or economics, evolutionary dynamics, politics, game theory! I just like understanding how dynamic systems interact with one another and trying to maximize efficiency.
Going into IT was the biggest mistake of my entire life. I have a degree and MCTS - and my salary is shit and its so hard to get into another company because they are so heels dug into the ground - They already have there own neat little ICT team, so its VERY rare they let others in... If your thinking of going into ICT along the lines of this work (Systems Analyst ) really dont bother.
@jaybrick8920 £14,500 a year with NO bonuses; the work is out sourced to other countries which is one of the major problems people in india work for farless than we do. No matter how good you are; you will never be paid your worth in ICT. And as i mentioned before; your going to struggle to get anywhere because in IT they expect you to not only specialise in 1 area, you have to know 3-4 areas ontop of that. You work to the bone for peanuts. Even with my qualifications im thinking of leaving IT.
they said this is 1 of the top 10 growing field...employement rate is expected to grow over 20% through 2018. If u love computers this is the field for u..im currently looking around for the right school for this field...any reccomendations would be great. Msg me if you know a good school for this in california
And you need a 4-year degree for that? LMAO. Don't waste your time kiddies, get a BS in computer science and become a programmer/engineer -- a real career, not a technician that only requires basic knowledge of computer systems.
Great video! It shows that a Computer Systems Analyst needs to be able to work with others and they need to do a good job of working with others...

the problem is most SME don't know what a System Analyst is, neither do programmers, they don't do any design they just go directly to coding, that's like a building a room without any design, they don't know what analysts can bring into their organization that is the problem..
This video makes it seem like all you do is study computers to get to this career. But at my target school (Cal State Univ. Northridge) You study business with emphasis on information systems. The video made it seem like you just need a general understanding of business to work in this field, but why does BUSINESS come first at my school?
You need more than college degrees to get a job as a computer system analyst. You need experience. You need to try to get hired on at Wal-Mart for customer service experience, then move on to Best Buy for additional customer service plus computer and electronic equipment knowledge. Then get hired by a computer repair business, then move into help desk technician, then with your degrees, you could be considered for a "computer system analyst" job.
@kevin10987 LOL ur crazy man.... you dont need do any of that.... walmart?? wtf?? why not get an internship and work as a software engineering and get experince that way?? best buy?? lol..go to school to get A+ certified and a Computer science degree... dont waste ur time in best buy or walmart... agreen2k7..
Look at who's correcting me. My structure and usage of English grammar is a lot better than yours and you are telling me what will get you that type of job.
A computer system analyst is a job track for "Computer Information Systems" or "IT Technology" degrees. Computer Science is about solving problems by writing code. "Computer Information Systems"and other "IT Technology" degrees is about being able to maintain and manage the equipment and software.
Just wanted to say also this course prepares you well for your job right? you wont end up going out and not know what to do sry for the stupid question, its just that i want to get everything checked out
Hey guys im really looking into this, I heard that they start the classes off as if u havn't and any computer classes in high school is that right? I want to get my bachelors degree in it. anyway how do I start as said below i just get into one of those classes and stay into it for what 4 years and thats it or are there some prerequisite classes what? I really need your help and your is greatly appreciated thnx
Dear Digital - Congratulations on knowing what you want to do. Your question is on target. There are three types who go into IT. 1) The ones who study IT in school 2) those who have an incredible knack for figuring it all out and 3)those who combine both. It is important to get more training as technology changes daily, so go to your school of choice and talk to them. They will help you assess which classes you need vs. which you can skip. Good luck, CareerRX
This seems like an interesting career. What are the necessary subjects required in persuing such a career and what are expected earnings and demands for such a job?
you usually need a 4 year degree like it sayed in the video and the best payed place to work is Washington (not dc) and noobs in washington make $36 an hour and experienced people make $43 an hour and when im old anough im going to get a degree in computer science maybe get 6 years so i can start out with more money and a better chance for a job
hey guys im trying to be a freaking network administrator or database administrator. which one is better guys?! im doin college work now!

You need a 2 year diploma or 4 year degree in either Computer Information Systems or Computer Science from a quality, accredited college.
Note: Computer Information Systems is more practical and hands-on, while Computer Science is more heavy into math and theory.
Either way, the courses you take in either program should prepare you well for a fun and prosperous career in Systems Analysis.
