Yes. JH who died in 1994 charted changes that had happened even as his Out of Town and Old Country programmes were running. He had long been a radio broadcaster and journalist but his TV programmes on the countryside were made in the last third of his life - starting in 1963 - when he was old enough to compare his experiences of now - the 60s, 70s and 80s - and then, the period of his growing up from his birth in 1911. His focus was the incredible change in just 40 years from 1920 to 1960.
You know there are also a few JH programmes I've streamed on Vimeo - some longer ones from 'Old Country' and even an 'Out of Town'. Google Vimeo and Search or try:

I think I've got the other half of this episode somewhere – where he takes us through the growing of a bed of big onions and then in his kitchen he stuffs one with a fatty kidney, puts the two halves back together, wraps in bacon rashers pinned with sausage sticks and bakes – his.... @woozle1954 Hi there. Any chance of getting a copy to me? I will gladly stream it. The best way to find me email is to go to my blog 'democracy street'. If you google that phrase you should find it and my contact details are there. I guess you have it on a VHS tape. I have guaranteed to copy and return all such material with a few weeks.
Lovely video, thanks. I agree with him about the chicken wire in a tray or draw somewhere. I was waiting for him to start coughing. Another dear old character who's disappeared from the countryside.
I have been looking for a long time to find out how to do this and after watching Jack doing ti I now got the message and have just done 9 strings of onions
However, Jack had come to the conclusion that trays with chicken-wire bottoms are better than onions on strings because it's easier to remove any rotten ones throughout the winter, but he adds, strings "go nice in the kitchen"
Excellent instructional video. Last season (my first onion crop), I tried to plait them. Not very appealing visually, This season I've Googled the process and this video is the best I've seen. Now just to wait for the crop to be ready for harvesting.
Thanks to a viewer who recorded the live programme in the mid-1980s and passed their clip on to me with apologies for the quality. Thanks for your comment. I try to post an extra episode about once a fortnight. Also on Vimeo. Simon
