This a truly fabulous step by Pp. Benedict XVI. I had no idea the Anglican communion world wide was so large. Many good missionaries in the Anglican Church it seems. The African bishops will preserve one small remnant amongst the more evangelical Anglicans. Pp. Benedict will save the rest. This step will provide precedent for a day not far off when even these people turning to the African bishops will seek refuge in the Catholic Church. Pp. Benedict is reaping the seeds Blessed JP II sowed.
The Pope had a duty to consult? Did U.S. Episcopals consult with him before ordaining women? Or before ordaining the openly-gay bishop in New Hampshire or the lesbian sufragan in Los Angeles? They didn't even consult their own Anglican Communion! Since Episcopals will not perform gay weddings in church (yet), the gay bishop discourages marriage in church, saying that all couples should marry civilly and then come to church and get "blessed." So much for "no threat to traditional marriage."
@mindspring57 Traditional marriage: arranged by the parents, with the wife being submissive to her husband, even if abused, with both spouses being of the same race, religion, and social class. Clearly, "marriage" has changed, even within the Church. At one time, breaking any of the listed "norms" was also considered to be an affront to God and his intended order for society. And in the early Church, marriage wasn't a sacrament. It WAS a civil affair that could be later blessed by a priest.
A married priesthood should not be a problem. The Byzantine Catholics, in communion with Rome, ordain married men to the priesthood. The Roman Rite should do so generally.
I though we would be welcoming back the Orthodox first, But hey, whoever wants to come come :)

To all the Anglicans coming back, welcome home. To all Anglicans on the fence about whether or not to, just hop over and come back home.
