The iPad is so useless... I'm not dissing apple or anything, but the iPad is basically a big ipod touch. Just get a netbook. You get to choose the size you want and it has ALL of the functions of a laptop. The only downside to them is that their performance compared to a full sized laptop is quite a step down, but they still have more memory, faster processors, and are capable of the same graphic as an iPad. They're way cheaper too.
You, sir, do realize that "battery life 10 hours" is an estimate, and is an estimate that is used for things such as web browsing. It doesn't mean that using Skype, etc, will last 10 hours.

They are still behind. Tegra 2 was released before the iPad2 was released. Tegra3 (if it's called that) is coming out later this year and if Apple continues it's release schedule they will continue to be behind on the processor.

Because PC's are still 90 some odd % of the market. PC, fyi, run flash. As does any non-apple mobile media device. So, in effect, if you want to keep an Apple fan boy off your site, just make it 100% flash. Only Apple based products will suffer, so, not that big a loss really XD

There are severe accessibility issues, you use unnceccesary amounts of bandwidth, and it really is best for designing elements on a page, not whole pages. I was taught to program complete Flash pages, but in my opinion it's a lazy way of making sites, often doing no good for the users.

It's quick, cheap, and most users out there don;t know that there are more efficient ways to load things up, and developers know this, and exploit it.

Actually, yes, it really is 8 megapixels. Though, it's all irrelevant anyway because megapixels don't mean shit when it comes to image quality. In actual fact, having more megapixels can become detrimental to image quality because in order to have more pixels without increasing the size of the image sensor, you need to make the light sensing diodes smaller, thus becoming less accurate, which is where the grain comes from.

By definition, the EVO does have a TRUE 8 MP camera, no lying at all. It's not a 1 MP camera that saves in 8 MP, it's a real 8 MP camera.

@BarCodeDesigns designated cameras have wider apertures and a lot more space for element lenses, so it can very well take 11mp if it was designed to. But most cameras that are attached to other devices tend to promise it while giving crap quality because it's stretched to be as big as it said it would be. I'm just saying, a camera's quality is based on the picture's quality, not it's resolution alone.
I would much rather save that money to buy an itouch or the rumored 2nd gen zune hd and a vmoda crossfade lp. These two are so much more worth it than the ipad.
No it's not a surprise, because Apple rolls out generation after generation, when other companies stuff will last quite a few years after it's initial release, I mean Nvidia still supports cards from gosh, 2007 at most... maybe older, for the average consumer it holds up.
To me, the iPad 2 still lacks much of what the HP slate has, in terms of specs, RAM, etc.

Ipad2 no longer is the thinnest tablet on the market. The thinnest tablet is the newly updated Galaxy tab that is 0.30mm which is 0.04mm lesser than the ipad2. The new galaxy tab will come with a higher resolution of 1280x800 as compared to ipad2's 1024x768 reso. The galaxy tab will also weight lesser and have 2Megapixel in the front and 3Megapixel at the back, which is better as compared to ipad2's 0.7Megapixel camera.

As for the intelligence of Apple Soldier here, I don;t doubt or question it, but I DO question his ability to fairly judge the two different (Mac & PC) systems. For this, I do apply the insulting term of Apple Fan Boy.

Everyone knows Apple products are overpriced, and you are paying for the name and the design. This is why I only own one Mac instead of several like I do with my PC's.

I typed in the URL of a 100% Full Flash website I'd just finished building for a client using custom lightweight Actionscript code but the screen went black and an error message appeared. I handed it to the Apple store clerk, told him the thing was broken and walked out. That's iPad. Epic hype and lies about Flash content--which is everywhere.

Because PC's are still 90 some odd % of the market. PC, fyi, run flash. As does any non-apple mobile media device. So, in effect, if you want to keep an Apple fan boy off your site, just make it 100% flash. Only Apple based products will suffer, so, not that big a loss really XD

@AndrewDeLong Let me rephrase: Even if there were no iPads or other Apple portable devices, and PC's were dominating the market completely (as in: 100%), why would anyone make a 100% Flash site today? There are severe accessibility issues, you use unnceccesary amounts of bandwidth, and it really is best for designing elements on a page, not whole pages. I was taught to program complete Flash pages, but in my opinion it's a lazy way of making sites, often doing no good for the users.

@clusen Well, while I was merely joking on the matter, you pretty much answered the question yourself in your last sentence. It's a lazy way to make a web page. It's quick, cheap, and most users out there don;t know that there are more efficient ways to load things up, and developers know this, and exploit it.
Put simply, why spend twice as much money, and do twice as much work on something that, though wasteful, is a helluva lot cheaper & easier to do? Business wise, it makes little sense.

@clusen @clusen LOL... 1. Because you can't do everything using jQuery, HTML5 and CSS alone. 2. Big corporations and ad agencies STILL ask for 100% Flash sites and pay for them. 3. Silly bandwidth arguments and memory hog arguments are the result of badly written code, which is true for Javascript, Python, C++, HTML, etrc. and has nothing to do specifically with AS. 4.Apple lies and some of us know they lie so we don't support their lies.. That's why.

Actually, yes, it really is 8 megapixels. Though, it's all irrelevant anyway because megapixels don't mean shit when it comes to image quality. In actual fact, having more megapixels can become detrimental to image quality because in order to have more pixels without increasing the size of the image sensor, you need to make the light sensing diodes smaller, thus becoming less accurate, which is where the grain comes from.

I;m not disagreeing with you on that point, but your suggestion that HTC is lying to it's customers is false. Just because the image quality is bad, it doesn't mean it's not a TRUE 8 MP lens. By definition, the EVO does have a TRUE 8 MP camera, no lying at all. It's not a 1 MP camera that saves in 8 MP, it's a real 8 MP camera.

@BarCodeDesigns designated cameras have wider apertures and a lot more space for element lenses, so it can very well take 11mp if it was designed to. But most cameras that are attached to other devices tend to promise it while giving crap quality because it's stretched to be as big as it said it would be. I'm just saying, a camera's quality is based on the picture's quality, not it's resolution alone.

No it's not a surprise, because Apple rolls out generation after generation, when other companies stuff will last quite a few years after it's initial release, I mean Nvidia still supports cards from gosh, 2007 at most... maybe older, for the average consumer it holds up.
To me, the iPad 2 still lacks much of what the HP slate has, in terms of specs, RAM, etc.

Ipad2 no longer is the thinnest tablet on the market. The thinnest tablet is the newly updated Galaxy tab that is 0.30mm which is 0.04mm lesser than the ipad2. The new galaxy tab will come with a higher resolution of 1280x800 as compared to ipad2's 1024x768 reso. The galaxy tab will also weight lesser and have 2Megapixel in the front and 3Megapixel at the back, which is better as compared to ipad2's 0.7Megapixel camera.

Does anybody else feel like all apple does is keep releasing the same thing over and over... and every year they improve it a TINY bit, and the people who had the old one fork over the money for the NEW one, not realizing of course that next year there will be a "better" version, and by better I mean a SMALL upgrade such as a Camera (we've had camera's for about 300 years) and then call it magical.
