@ManlySlut i agree with that although i think there is away to put them together, rooney prefers being a lone striker and i think if you play him up alone with gerrard/lampard in behind him and the other one next to barry that would be the best line up with j.cole on left and lennon on right the way england play with heskey is just launch longballs and hope he flicks it on similar with crouch only difference one is a proven goal scorer the others heskey

@cainey66 Alonso was Liverpool's best midfielder. Overall he is a more complete mid than Gerrard. Check Liverpool's league table results with and without him for the proof of that.
If you think Gerrard would fit in seamlessly with the Spanish system of possession football, you don't really have much of a clue.
