  • Panzeux, with black liquor? Shit! That sucks more than anyone should ever experience. How are you doing?

  • I just boiled myself with that fucking liquor 2 days ago.... 40% of my body....all this because of someone else's fault.

  • No. Thankfuly. This is the pulpmill north of town.

  • So was that the same place that burnt done two years ago? Plywood plant?

  • Well that's not good.

  • I wouldn't want to be poking the nozzles when that happens.

  • It looks worse than it is. Granted, we have 2 ID fans for each boiler, but still, just send someone to restart the fan, or initiate an MFT. ESP? Why wait 4 hours if it can be avoided? RBs are not for the faint of heart...

  • That doesn't look good. That looks bad...and serious!

  • Im supposed to be going into this profession. I'll be sure to stand clear of situations like this.

  • ive worked inside the power plant boilers repairing them with refractory damm hard work

  • We used to get that when the ID tripped. FD fan was interlocked to ID by zero speed switch. ID fan takes for ever to wind down after a trip. Changed interlock to mimic Id fan trip solenoid valve. Worked great, not perfect but much improved.

  • wow so id fan tripped and boiler didnt. My guess is the boiler cooked.

  • that looks like fun, especially all the burnt wires that have to be repulled. our boiler(ahlstrom) would go positive whenever we lost power, which happened a lot with thunderstorms. much fun!

  • whats the id fan and what is the black/red liquor?

why did u get pressure blowing flames back when u lost power?

In fact whats going on here?

  • I'm no boiler expert, but after doing some reading after I saw this video, I can offer the following ideas....1) black liquor is a byproduct of the kraft paper making process. It's red because it is sent to the recovery boiler to use as a fuel and for chemicals to be reused. ID fan is induced draft fan, which maintains a slight negative pressure in the boiler. If the fan fails, the boiler "goes positive" and you see that stuff flying all over the place like that.

  • shittty! I would like to get some experience with Power and Recovery boilers. Oh well Im stuck running 4 Cleaver Brooks Package fire tubes for now...

  • It was at Northwood. #1 boiler. The ID fan just decided to quit and the high pressure limit was jumpered. Safety first at Canfor eh?

  • @Frogmonster

How do plants like that get away with jumping Limits like that? What did the boiler inspector say?

  • @computer188 Boiler inspectors dont do shit in the most cases.... Im a power engineer and the stuff I see the Inpsector let go makes me want to smash my head against the wall....

  • Superheater tube leak?

  • holy shit...what year was that! what mill? Northwood? or PG pulp?

  • looks scary at the boiler room

  • the interlock of furnace high pressure didn`t work or just there is no interlock

  • Yeah shit happens, where is this boiler?

  • Prince George B.C. Canada.
