  • MEOW!!!

  • Better than most shit nowadays.

  • I am always amazed by the incredible production values that this show has.

  • From the animation, I'd say that the people that recreated Heman are the same ones that recreated the Thundercats. Not too bad really.

  • No, Larry Kenney voiced Lion-O.

  • @Fluffysnowballkitten Larry Kenney was the voice of Lion-O in the original Thundercats. In this one, he is the voice of King Claudus.

In this one, Lion-O is voiced by Will Friedle (among other roles, he played Terry McGinnis in Batman Beyond).

  • thank you so much for uploading this!!!!

  • It's still demonic as ever

  • ...lightsaber duel moment :P

  • Ya know, I'm a child of the late 80's/90's. I grew up watching the original... I like this one, honestly. I'll have to check out more.

  • Dudes, get your facts straight. Disney "stole" from Shakespeare. Not Kimba. Both Lion King and Kimba are based on Hamlet.

  • @ChocolateInsanity911 Actually, if you just do a google image search, you'll see exactly how similar much of the artwork and imagery is.

  • Is it just me or they made Lion- O younger in this series? He's so much smaller than in the 80s cartoon.

  • @boneywasa Younger physically, but older chronologically. Remember in the '80s cartoon he was originally a child, and got aged-up due to a glitch in the cryosleep system. In this one he's just a teenager.

  • @RoninDragonNC I thought so. I preferred how he looked in the 80s series though, but this one has far more action.

  • @RoninDragonNC

i prefer the old classic thundercats of the 1980's, i have all the collection dvd's of the 1980's, but i kind of 50% like and 50% don't like.

  • @boneywasa They made him a skinny little fuck with a cracking voice so he would appeal, and relate to today's EMO generation.

  • The animation is similar to Avatar, which means its better than the shitty Japanese animes.

  • You do realize it's a prequel to the classic Thundercats, right?

  • @kirbykrisis18 No, it's not. It's a completely separate continuity.

  • @kirbykrisis18

it was never a prequel who ever told you that, i have the original dvd's of the 1980's animations of the thundercats, and this new one has nothing to do with the old one.

    it's completly diffirent.

  • Some of you guys need to stop hating on this because of it's "anime-ness", I'm not a huge fan of anime, I hate how they use the same jumps of animation over and over, frequently overuse still images, half ass the lip syncing and sometimes use atrociously low frame rates to the point where you can clearly notice every individual frame. BUT...

This doesn't seem like that, the animation is pretty sound actually and I can get over the art style. Oh and btw, Thundercats 1985 was technically anime. :p

  • @dragonforks93 you know,I always thought the same thing.Grew up w/old Thundercats, and when I saw the 80s version recently,I thought some of the characters reminded me like of a precursor to anime, and noticed that the artists were all Asian names.I love the art & music direction of this new one,and it overall seems more sophistocated & relevant, but stays true to the original.

  • @cj222100 Yes, exactly! People like to point at modern anime and compare it with everything even when it technically can't be done since american and european animation are completely different on all levels. You are exactly right saying Thundercats 1985 is a precursor to modern anime because it was precisely that, people forget that things change and evolve over time. A lot of the classics like Thundercats and He-Man were older iterations of anime from which modern anime has evolved.

  • @dragonforks93 Agreed! There is crap animation and then there is real animation. Huge difference there, whether it's Japanese, European, American, whatever.

  • Love this! Can't wait for season 2! Hope to see Bangali & Pumyra(hook up with Lion-O since cheetara hooked up with tygra)...lol

  • Well-

    i'm fully aroused.

    bad arse.

  • I may just have to watch that.

  • watch the first episode here

    w a t c h ? v = t C Z w u o w v H - s

take out spaces and paste after /

  • i like this show but it took a while to get use to how different the story line is. all in all i'm ready for something totally new. i'm getting a bit tired of all the anime. people are to grumpy when it comes to that. you get ur head bit off if you say the tiniest negative against a couple they like. and anime is all the same magic girls, giant robots, war, demons same old boring stuff in every single show. i dont get why it's still so popular.

  • That's the weirdest thing ever

  • How about the theme song!!!! it was epic ffs

  • Now why the hell cant i find a single clip of larry kenny saying thundercats ho for the last time and only time in this new thundercats show? -.-

  • Well I can overlook the hate on this show, okay it's not like the original, but man this is a cool show to watch, if you want to hate something that is really bad hate on the Disney Channel for their crap "teenagers" shows.

  • This show is great and it it will never be like the old series. They are both DIFFERENT shows. They will never be the same. Everyone needs to respect that and stop trying to fit them both together. it will never work so take it like it is or please just STOP talking or watching it.

  • Oh, dear. He caught a glimpse of Breaking Dawn's ending through the Sword of Omens.

  • Sword of Omens, give sight beyond sight.....

And Lion-O saw Mumraa's porn collection......

  • where the hell is all the other episodes? Effing wanner bros has removed almost all of them :( I wanna see episodes 1-12

  • Whats this anime shit? Original is better!

  • @misfit13091 Its not an anime.

  • @Naioki4 The style is classified as anime so.... yeah its anime.

  • @misfit13091 you know the other one is Japanese right?

  • @xavierbot Um...no its American, look it up dumbass

  • @XxGuaTxX Agreed. I had high hopes for this show and this show hasn't disappointment me yet.

  • @00411392 yes i find find really good too and i didn't even know that this was a remake until about 2 minutes ago

  • I adore Tygra's overall character so much more in this. The original character was too dramatic (as well as all of the other characters from the 80's) but I grew up with that series. It's refreshing to see the new take on all of the characters in this series. Can't wait to see what happens next =)

  • @LadyVedder Tell me about it! I was an 80s chlid, too, and looking at this and what we used to watch, I was like "Wow....we got gypped." Still, if it weren't for the classic show, we never would've gotten this, so it all paid off. I haven't had a chance to watch any of the episodes, but I"m probably going to buy it on DVD once it comes out. I REALLY hope we get Bengali in the next season. He was my favorite!

  • You know a show is good when they actually bother to make the characters lip sync "o's" and other sounds.

  • Ok ...i'm sold...,this show looks cool and interesting!

  • I really like this new remake.never thought i would,but was very surprised when i watched it.i can't say the old one's better,or the new one's better.they're similar,yet very different.i like them both.i think this new one's just more 2011,that's all.more sophistocated&modern i think,and i have to say,i like tigra's new weapon!but is there going to be a movie in 2012,or not?i heard they pulled the plug on it,then i heard they didn't-does n e one know 4 sure?

  • I dont know..It kinda reminds me of the deltora quest anime.

Looks just like an anime too

  • I love this show probably because it reminds me of Trigun; a protagonist with an inner struggle

  • A MUST SEE!

  • while watching the series i like how they use to old sound effect

  • the old thundercats bwas way better

  • im afraid this is going to be turruble

  • Well, looks like the voice acting is still hammier than the translations of mid-90s Horror Game ports.

  • I prefer the 80's version, Damn, Was there a kid in the 80's who didn't watch it, Classic Pen and ink art, Accept no substitute.

  • this does have it down sides, like the episodes don't seem to flow together. they just seem to be individual shows themselves. though i do have to admit when tyrga says "uh oh" i can't help but smile. it's so cute. and i love will friedle, they couldn't have gotten a better guy to do lion-o

  • the original serie its better

  • this is crap

  • Wow that was good I'm looking forward to this also one more thing I love the old thunder cats but this ones good too hopefully they don't screw up everything like most remakes

  • This animation style reminds me of BEN 10 .

  • Is this series any good, I like the anime style they have for it, the character designs are cool and the voice acting seems to be alright.

  • @AshXXMayftw It could be better, but it's definitely worth watching.

  • @AshXXMayftw watch it and find out

  • I can has omins?

  • Looks like they respect the origenal series in the spin off.

    Good stuff

  • The original Lion-O vs Batman Beyond. Awesome.

  • So far one thing I can say about it, it answers many questions that were left open and in the air with the original and its not bad so far

  • i still like the original more...

  • I like it

  • @nagyabajusz Um...it's the show's soundtrack score? I didn't modify these videos in any way, I just pulled them from whichever site I saw them on (Io9, I think) and uploaded them here.

  • Excellent.

  • The Actor Voicing Lion-O's Father is the original Lion-O actor from the original show

No wonder he sounds soo damn amazing

  • @JAzzInfratech it is?!!!!..that's sooo awesome!!!

  • for some reason it's obvious when anime-like cartoons are not japanese.... i don't know why.... maybe it's the colours... the drawings... or maybe it's just me but i can tell everytime : PPP...

  • Wish they'd bring back more old cartoons like this. Better than some of the other crap they are putting on TV now

  • I don't know if I would call Lion-o cute........

but he's certainly handsome especially his smile

  • HECK YEAH >:D

  • I like this reboot of the Thundercats cartoon. I think Lion-O's father was actually an interesting character. Wish they kept him around longer on the show.

  • ok the new one Royally licks twat.

  • This was awesome. This will be another "to watch" series on my list.

  • Lion-O ? ....Cornflakes ?

  • New Lion-O looks like Crono from Chrono Trigger.

  • I was expecting the worst, but this new series is awesome!

  • lolol i see cheetara 0:46

    XD

  • @kaciekk One of these is not like the other.

  • Fangs?

  • My father says that this one confuses him. Since the original Lion-o is also Claudus, he thought that this would be like a sequel and that this Lion-o would be like the originals son

  • @mcleodkendall Watch the episode "Legacy", It explains the new series origin of the Thundercats.

  • Whoa...so the sword is like his third eye!! Trippy.

  • the new has pluses and minuses. i like how they growl now when they r mad. but i don't get stuff like making tygra an lion-o brothers. :? and making cheetara kinda flirtatious with lion-o. seriously hope they don't become a couple she belongs with tygra if anyone.

  • arg! i keep missing the episodes! i really need to make a note to watch it >.<

  • @YaoiFangirl555 You see the first one tonight

  • i applaud the new version. not sure why everyone gotta diss on anime tho.

  • meh... I don't like the animation.... and the lines are still corny... No point in watching the actually show because they don't keep to the original story line and they remove some of the original character or changed them to the point that they are unrecognizable...

  • next big american animation, that i am looking forward to is "legend of korra"

  • Not being a fan of the original, back in the day I didn't really have hope when i seen this, man im glad i was wrong this show is awesome but i have question i just finished episode 8 are they taking a break for a bit because i looked on CN.com and didn't see thundercats on the schedule for this friday?

  • meh in the old one atleast they looked like cats but here they just look like anime people w/ face paint

  • Meh. He's a teenager in this version.

  • Lion-O's father shows no mercy XD

  • Claudus is the real liono. It feels like when they take an old actor from a successful movie and then they make a remake and give that actor a roll in the remake. It's so awesome!

  • where the japanese dubb???

  • @TheYosh96 japanese dub?? what do you mean?

  • @TheYosh96 This is an American show.

  • i love Lion-O he's so cute in this newer version of the show. but panthro is still my favorite

  • @kman5769 you're totally right!!0.0 YAY THE CARTOON NETWORK FINNALY GOT SOME GOOD SHOWS BACK ON!!!! cartoon network Y U CANCEL ALL UR GOOD SHOWS?!?!

  • :O FINALLY! A REASON TO WATCH CARTOON NETWORK AGAIN!!

  • Give me Sight beyond sight!

  • lion-o father King Claudus is the one true king of the thundercats.

  • Anthro stuff is so kewl

  • SUPER SAIYAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lion-o looks a bit like link

  • The new Lion-o is a puny annoying bitch. I gave it a chance, but it sucks!

  • THUNDER

    THUNDER

    THUNDER

    THUNDERCATS

    HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • is this anime?

  • @comicgenius1234 That's kinda complicated to answer. It's being produced by Warner Bros. Animation, which is an American company. But, they hired anime folks Studio 4°C to do the animation.

  • @RoninDragonNC That would make it pseudo-anime. :D Or something like that.

  • @RoninDragonNC so it's kinda like avatar.

  • @RoninDragonNC i prefer to call, hybrid! bcause they use diferent styles! the tipical wb style with a huge touch of anime-like disign, only to simplify.

  • @RoninDragonNC

Then it isn't an anime, since it was made in US. In order for a cartoon to be considered an anime, it has to be made in Japan. The Boondocks isn't an anime either, despite its anime-like appearance

  • @DJBrokenHigh Though in Japan, anything that's animated is called an "anime." So it depends on which definition you're going off of. If someone in Japan saw this, it would be an anime--and so would the original.

  • @DJBrokenHigh It's an american show, but it was produced using studios in the United States, Japan and Korea.

Animation is pretty much an international effort, now.

  • @DJBrokenHigh It IS an american show. But it WAS produced in japan, a whole Japanese team is developing it. So it WAS made in japan, and can be considered as anime.

  • @KittyTR Okay. The writing, character designs, and the storyboards were done in America. Japan gets them and animate them all together and ships them back. There you go.

  • @DJBrokenHigh

Well, it is not important, but the style is clearly Anime, which the creators state as well.

It is not about where it was done, it is about the "art". So i would say it is pretty much closer to Anime then to cartoon.

  • @DJBrokenHigh It's a joint effort between an American company and Japan. It's the same for a show in the 80's called Might Orbots.

  • @DJBrokenHigh It's made by a japanese people. it is anime. Anime is the japanese name for animation and everything made in japan and it's still is regarded as "Anime".

  • @MrSiesses If this was made by Japanese people, then that would explain who it sucks so bad. It's why I didn't like any of their versions of transformers. They took the original idea and hacked it to pieces, like Disney does when it gets its claws on anything decent.

  • @RagingSeraphim The Japanese people only did the looks, they did not make the story, dialouge or anything, and this series is very good if you give it time to watch it. In the large scope it's far superior to the original. It juts has to proove itself.

  • @MrSiesses I was almost going to listen to you. But then you said this was superior to the original. NOTHING even comes close to the original.

  • @RagingSeraphim What ever i think is better does not change the fact that the Japanese people only did the looks of show. You may think the old one is better and i don't blame you for that. I think they are equally good.

  • @MrSiesses: The Japanese use the foreign term "anime" (shortened from "animation"/アニメーション) to refer to all animation, regardless of origin. The word has since been "re-exported" into English as a replacement for the rather cumbersome portmanteau "Japanimation".

  • @MrSiesses: (ctd.) Thundercats, accordingly, is only "anime" if you are speaking Japanese. To demonstrate, here's a romaji version of a sentence off some blog, and an appropriate translation.

"Sanda-kyattsu" to wa, 80-nendai, Amerika de houei sare ninki hakushita SF anime TV shiri-zu.

"Thundercats" was a popular sci-fi cartoon [lit. animated TV series] that aired in the U.S. during the '80s.

  • @Reichu Thundercats is still anime, how ever you wanna turn it around, and also stop stalking me please.

  • @MrSiesses: We are communicating in English, so Thundercats is not "anime". There is nothing to be gained by referring to it as such (other than flaunting the fact that you know what "anime" means in Japan).

However, saying it is e.g. "anime-esque" is accurate and informative.

  • @Reichu We are indeed, yet the animation is made by japanese people. Anime "in English-speaking countries, the term most commonly refers to Japanese animated cartoons." which means, this is anime.

  • @MrSiesses: Ever since the 80s or so, a stunning majority of traditional (hand-drawn/"cel") animation has been produced overseas. (Too many examples to list; but of the stuff I watched when I was younger, I know Thundercats, Disney Afternoon, and Animaniacs were outsourced.) For this reason, "anime" is limited to features produced "for Japanese, by Japanese". Otherwise, why bother with importing the term "anime" into English at all?

  • @Reichu Maybe they like the japanese style? Or was pitching the idea to many studios and like this japanese one the most OR just wanted to do like what was done with the OS.

  • @MrSiesses

even the action figures are produced by bandai if i'm not mistaken (or some other japanese company).

and this whole 'anime sucks' racist hate mentality has got to stop. these ignorant americans weren't complaining

when disney stole kimba and turned it into lion king, or when those crackers turned goku white in that faggot db evolution movie.

a lot of american shows are animated japanese style like chaotic, totally spies, gi joe sigma 6 because it's

    trendy, modern, and hip.

  • @DeadIslandTrailers ya totally i find it soooo ironic when ppl in da US put down anime cuz if u think about it, the most influential early japanese anime like astro boy and osamu tezuka's work was based on american disney animations like bambie and snow white! especially the oversized, wide eyes and facial drawings.

  • @ScrewAtttackGirl Learn how to spell.

  • @DeadIslandTrailers I could not have said it bettre myself, well done.

  • @DeadIslandTrailers It's not accurate to label people who dislike anime as racist. I don't like anime because I don't think it's interesting. It is the same reason why I don't like Paris Hilton or movies with Seth Rogen. So I wouldn't be so quick to judge as racist.

  • @jodcook Anime got way better storylines and characters than most American Animated shows.

They put way more effort into making Animated shows and movies in Japan than in the west because in Japan its something people of all ages loves and enjoys but in all other countries most people think only little kids could possible enjoy animated stuff.

Anime IS better than most western cartoons and thats fact.

Or maybe your simply one of those people that dont like watching animation in general.

  • @CyberLance26:

I've been saying this for years. Anime owns American cartoons.

  • @SpankRamen2 Yea most of the time they sure do.

Really annoys me that so many ignorant people dont want to give Anime a try only because of the different art style or because they dont want to listen to another language.

The only thing many people care about is that Anime is different from the American cartoons they are used to and decides to avoid it only because of that.

They never get to see how much better storys and characters Anime got compared to most American shows.

  • @DeadIslandTrailers By the way, in which which non-racist-hate-mentality is the word "cracker" acceptable?

  • @DeadIslandTrailers Crackers? Wow. Racist aren't you? Japan has stolen stuff too. Get over it.

  • @TwistedSister09 so i think not, we may all steal a few things here and there but to take something give it american qualities and call it yours is pretty stupid :P EX: totally spies was actually called samanmi girls in japan and one of the girls named "ALEX" her name was actually "Yuri" so no racist just saying totally different view of things i guess

  • @DeadIslandTrailers Well done anime is good, but it's the minimalistic barely animated crap I can't stand. >.< If you're going to animate a show, then animate it, don't just do a bunch of stills with an occasional gesture and turn of the head. And at least try to not go overboard with the whole god mode characters all over the place... seriously...

  • @Leathurkatt I know exactly what you mean there, and on your other post I agree with you completely, I myself have not seen any anime that I can stand (besides this of course) but well made anime must exist, it can't all be low standard, shallow, unoriginal, barely animated, I'm-creating-the-illusion-of-movement-by-moving-the-camera-up-and-down bullcrap that I've seen so far

  • @dragonforks93 Devil May Cry is good, as is Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, and Ghost in the Shell. There aren't many, but there are a few. There's also Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. There is one particular studio that does the really good ones and you start to notice that as you go through them.

  • @Leathurkatt I generally don't like anime for the same reason that I don't like JRPGs, It's the whole feeling of "If you've seen one then you've seen them all", they all seem to use the same animation tricks, the characters are always predictable (for example there is always the character with amnesia, the cooky side kick and the ethnic guy) and the art style itself is a put off to me thought that is just personal taste. I will get around to sifting through the crap for gold though.

  • @Reichu cuz anime come from the western term animation

  • @RoninDragonNC Well that would explain why the visuals kind of look like Catherine to me

  • @comicgenius1234 hmm... thats like asking if the simpsons is anime. all of our shit has been drawn by asians ever since i was born. It shows in the original thundercats with the quality and detail. if you want american animation try things like aqua teen, sealab 2021, squidbillies, family guy, south park.. you get the picture.

  • @comicgenius1234 Anime art, Cartoon story. Still. I like this style like 1301239031290129012930 times better than the previous one.

  • My mom talks about this show all the time, how is was the most awsome thing she got to watch.

It's great to know that I can watch it now~

  • No "thunder~~thunder~~thundercats HOOOOOO!"?

    Whatever.

  • @fenrirgg It's in the episode, just not in this scene. And yes, it's awesome.

  • @RoninDragonNC

When the king said it, my hair stood on end.

I was like YAYYYYYYY!!!! Paying homage to us old school watchers! I love this new series.
