Help me with my memory if you can. I believe it was 1982 or early 1983 that the Rockats played in Charlotte NC at the Independence Arena? I saw them there opening for the Go-Go's. It was an all around awesome show. Do they tour anymore or are they even still together?
Brought me right back to all those great shows they did at The Ritz. I saw most of them, and was there one of the two nights they recorded the live album. From about '80 to '84, I was very much into the rockabilly scene in NYC and I can tell you that it was an awesome time in my life. Sharkskin suits, vintage shirts and English creepers...thanks Dibbs, Smutty and the rest of the boys for all those fun times. It was something special.
they were just immitating the stray cats. still good. i know one of their members. i dont know about the others but this is a low life living on welfare being 50+ perfect health, condition and fairly good looks. hmm..strange..
Thanks for these video posts! Watching these clips from 1982 is like time travel. I too saw them at the Continental ( a couple of times,) AND the underwhelming Stray Cats show at Klienhans. ( To be fair though, totally different venues with bands at different places in their careers.) Guitarist Barry Ryan played with Lucky Seven- another band that sounded even better live than their record!
Saw them at The Continental in Buffalo on this tour, and they melted the joint. Saw The Stray Cats at Kleinhans Music Hall about a year later, so I think I can make the comparison, and it's these guys, no question. Great to hear that they are still doing it & hope to see them gain. Who was the guy who played with Lucky Seven in the 'nineties?
brian setzer and the stray cats have been instrumental in making rockabilly a top success in the eighties...but the rockats are second to none...that's sure...
anybody knows why it's impossible (does it exist actually?) to find the CD of "live at the ritz". It's the best live rockabilly album ever
i never knew there was a video, i always thought brian setzer renamed the band from the rockats to the stray cats. now i see they're completely different. i bought the rockats mini lp in 84 but lost it moving around the country, if any has a copy let me know and if anyone out there if from Atlanta and knows the Swinging Richards let me know
I was the road manager for the Rockats on the tour that included Duffy's ...I know there is a review of that show out there that someone has and would love a copy. The Rockats today on a regular basis consist of Barry and Dibbs and when its finacially requested Smutty and Mike Osborn fill out the one of a so few originals to complete the band. I'd love to get a copy of the review of Dffy's if at all possible

Saw them "Live At The Ritz" on my 19th birthday & many times in Mpls (including Duffy's where I worked). These guys paved the way for the Stray Cats.

I remember seeing these guys at the Ritz in NYC late '79 '80 Long before the Stray Cats!
These Motherfuckers were too wild for the industry.
If anything I think the Stray Cats were polished Copy Cats!
