A fully tuned turbo 2002 can run low 8's in the quarter mile. These little cars were incredibly fast in their day, and still have the potential to positively slaughter in any type of race.
i know exactly what happened the bmw drivers hand slipped off the shift knob. iv done that kindve pause before you woulda heard if he missed the gear.
@erokbgordon: the switch between round/square was in 1973. just before the "facelift" (chrome grill exit, bigger kidnees) they also adjust the lenght of the side of the rearbumper. before '73 it was less long. just after that they came with the facelift and made the rearlights square. and because the turbo was produced in '74 and '75 it was only with square rearlights.
@sjonhigh OK, so it's not a factory turbo. Or if it is it was transplanted from another car, or they just swapped the exhaust mani and intake. to an older car.
your car is sexy gorgeous But Second shift was like a shit, rear suspicions Are shit either , carburetor is blocked as well , look @ 1:13 , it was damn dirty , .....you want to race ? even old classic car , you should prepare & equipped your vehicle well , spark plugs , air intake, suspicions , fuel pump , install turbo kit , i've seen many for sale online for something like 1500 $ tiers ....etc then beat Volvo and others
@3131561 for all i know the turbo's got a kugelfischer (mechanical) injection. it's possible when it isn't a real stock turbo (round rearlight, although that was often changed by owners who thought that round was more nice).
The shift plates and bushings wear out on these cars, and the first symptom is difficulty getting into second gear. I have a '79 320 (same drivetrain) and last summer when mine was bad I drove around going from first to third (skipping 2nd) for a month or so. So, its not really driver error, its just a maintenance error!

Round lights pre-'75 I believe.... square after. Not sure what year/s the turbo was offered.

Just a hint, that knob on a stick between the front seats is for shifting gears.
