woow, just had a joint and thought: maybe I'll just check out what 'siberian breaks' sounds like. This must be one of the trippiest things I've listened to in a long time
@Villeishott true that man, people incorrectly name mgmt as indie because psychedelic rock is not very prevalent today, but its is making a gradual revival.
This song is so amazing...i feel like this is what kind of music pink floyd was making if syd barrett stayed in the group and wasn't fucked up on acid! Truly amazing, this song is all i've been listening to in the past week very great album to, from start to finish
@Volcomxxx420 Lol thats a bloody lie. Stop wannabeing, you don't need any kind of drug to listen to this. It's such an epic and awesome song it works as a drug itself, harmless but powerfull one
@DirtyHarry566 dont remember what i said, but anyone who says "oh music is a drug to me" is a fagget. Seriously its wayy too different on *gulp* drugs for your tiny brain to comprehend.
@Volcomxxx420 Well I do remember what you said, and you said you had to be high to listen to this song. Now thats, as I said, a bloody lie. Good music is supposed to change what you feel. That is almost acting like a drug. You just say that cause you want people to think "Oh look, this guy is so cool cuz he does drugs!" Now thats being a faggot. Of course listening to music is way different than "*gulp*" drugs. But in fact, its way smarter.
@DirtyHarry566 listening to good music is very much like taking drugs. when you hear a song and get goosebumps ur brain releases dopamine. there was an article about this in the chicago sun times.
If the Flaming Lips had a threesome with Stardeath and the White Dwarfs and Ween, this is what it would sound like. Bloody hell, this song is brilliant!!!
i used to only listen to the first part of this song and then switch to another song because it was so long and i didn't think the other parts were that good. but then i listened to it one day when i was high: not only did i listen to the entire thing and LOVE it, i can now listen to the whole thing even when i'm sober.
this is at least an example that some old good music from the 60s has not faded away with time. This modern band is recovering old good music and genres! :D
Not 3 songs put together, rather progressions, Beethoven and The Beatles on Happiness is a warm gun and the Beach Boys were masters of tempo change and progressions; and so is MGMT. The Lyrics are up to your own interpretation as they should be, the more confused you are the better no 2 people think alike after all humans use metaphors to communicate.
generally i dont like 2:10-4:45, but there's a youtube video of that part titled "the best part of siberian breaks". im glad to know that that part is appreciated
otherwise every part of the song has at one point been my favourite, for right now i'll just take 8:55 as the best...what a f*ucking transition back to the opening song
Seriously though, this song is a fucking masterpiece

@Villeishott i agree 100% that this is psychedelic, however, indie is a very wide ranged genre and i can see how this would fall under indie.
