I think its a good schedule, im glad they are coming back to Richmond i go there every year, and im very glad they will be going to Long Beach that place has alot of history like Indianapolis which is the crown jewel so good job.
I agree IndyFan. IRL needs more good oval tracks like Michigan, Atlanta... Schedule shouldn't be 50/50 it's United States for gods sake Oval tracks are most popular in the whole country. Schedule should have 25 Races with 15-16 oval races and 9-10 RC.
Swap Sonoma for Laguna Seca. I love Sonoma, but Indy Cars are to big for that place. Portland should comeback within the next couple of years since that place was repaved.
A swap with Bell Isle for Road America would be nice too. Everything else is cool.
The indycar series needs Laguna Seca, Road America, Surfers Paradise, and Montreal. I refuse to watch the indycar series until its 50-50 between ovals and road courses. If the indycar series wants to get more fans it better go back to popular CART/Champ Car tracks. With this new schedule there wont be any new fans, if anything they will lose fans for this.
Yep that is true. They're not taking enough GOOD roadcourses. Elkhart Lake is a legend they MUST race in there, Montreal is always a great place to race and Laguna Seca is one of the greatest RC's in United States. But they also should add some more oval races. Like bring back Atlanta and Michigan back. So the schedule could be like 22 races with 13 oval and 9 rc races. That would be a perfect schedule in my oppinion (and people who still enjoys oval races)
Its not about the distance. Its about the racing. Cleveland is just plain better for putting on a good show. I understand like in the current situation it might not be the best idea to run them both every year, but Mid-Ohio is only contracted through 2009 - it would NOT have been a bad idea to run both and gauge which is the one to keep. They need to bring back the event in 2010, and in order to keep the Clevelanders placated they SHOULD have issued some assurances that they'd look into it.
I've been to Mid-Ohio. Its a crappy course for open-wheels. My brother, who is in Cleveland, is telling me that the Cleveland fans are EXTREMELY angry about this move.
The IRL needs more of what the FANS want. CART was popular before the split for a reason, and that mixture is what IRL needs to go back to. Its what fans have been wanting since even before unification. The need more road courses. I won't say they need a majority of road courses, but it needs to be a 50/50 split at least.
I'm expecting a repeat of Modellgate over this. With luck they'll be able to work it into the 2010 schedule. I doubt they could move the Cleveland racedate(it'd required FAA approval), which Iowa's contracted to hold through 2009. I like Iowa(rare for me to like ovals, but short tracks can provide some good entertainment now and then), but I'd gladly kick it aside for Cleveland. Hopefully when the contract expires, the IRL can negotiate a new date for Iowa so they can bring Cleveland back.
mhhhhhhhhhhh no detroit this year , finance problems reaching indycar racing.
