I'm not dogmatic anti drugs. I'm a drug user: I need Coffee, I love my alcohol. The flow of inebriation with party and dance is great. But when I'm in a real creative flow: writing etc. I forget the use of other things: doing my 'thing' is then my 'addaction'. Creative people sleep often very short cause they have a lot of energy, they are totally involved and forget their coffee etc. Your own body produce the real stuff, but it set also you're limit. Zappa was in the vibes of words and music...

Lots of people thinks that, if music is complex and rich arranged, must be made using drugs, or for drug users. Especially if music comes from 70's, and there's been a lot of examples of that kind of practice. Some were good, most not even close, but Frank Zappa (if you dig a little deeper) did not made music under the influence of drugs. If you can't catch a song on a first listening, does not mean it's drug influenced. Go listen to something soft and "easy listening", and you'll feel better!

@gumbyonacid If all drugs were legal nothing would be better, I agree that legalising marijuana could have good effects for the economy, and actually discourage minors from using it, but it would get out of hand to a point where companies hand out performence enhancing drugs like meth or speed to increase productivity which has happened in the past and still occurs. I'm okay with most drugs but the really dangerous ones need to be illegal, to discourage use although it will still be used.

back when "overnite sensation" was a new record, i had a three speed wards airline record changer. i would switch the speed down to 16 rpm's for all the guitar solos on this album... double the pleasure, double the fun... twice as much zappa guitar for every one !!!!!!!!

@exodyssey cigarettes and alcohol are drugs. Coffee is a drug. A large part of society is hooked on pain medication and other prescription drugs. losers are bad people who do bad things and do nothing. Many people who do drugs, are good respectable family men and women. the government picks and chooses which drugs to make illegal.This is not based on any facts,in fact it is quite arbitrary and based on fear and greed.

@gumbyonacid The drugs the government picks to make illegal usually are based on facts such as cocaine and meth, But others such as marijuana were illegilised based on fear and greed. The fact that most people who do drugs isn't relevant to the effect that the drugs have on people. Many peoples lives have been ruined by drugs which is the reason that dangerous ones were legalised. I'm not saying your wrong, just not completely correct. Your acting as if you want all drugs to be completely legal.

but it goes deeper than that- the government is making money on legal and illegal drugs- don't fool yourself,they are being paid off by major drug cartels-

@gumbyonacid If all drugs were legal nothing would be better, I agree that legalising marijuana could have good effects for the economy, and actually discourage minors from using it, but it would get out of hand to a point where companies hand out performence enhancing drugs like meth or speed to increase productivity which has happened in the past and still occurs. I'm okay with most drugs but the really dangerous ones need to be illegal, to discourage use although it will still be used.

@gumbyonacid Lol except that while it takes decades to develope any serious medical conditions from alcohol or cigarettes, though drugs like meth will have you spitting your teeth out because they're getting in the way of giving good enough head to get your $15 to get another fix. I get what you're saying but aim it properly... the smog in the air, germs on money, things in your food.. we accept these daily because they dont really do a lot of harm we arent going to have to deal with anyways.

@dirtyratmiller Wrong. He asserted that he smoked weed a bit in the early days of The Mothers, but had decided fairly quickly that since all it really did was make him sleepy, thus he decided to not continue. He did drink, though. Mostly Beer.
