Isaiah 30:30-33 reveals the beast to be the king of Assyria. Tophet is in the Hinnom valley (gehenna)(the lake of fire). I don't know of any other king that God sends to Gehenna. Isaiah 31:8 says they will be slain with a sword not of a man. (just like Rev 19:20-21) Is this also the same one as the wicked counselor from Ninevah(Mosul, Iraq) mentioned in Nahum 11?

No threat was made of any kind. All Joel is saying is that the Good News, the Gospel, needs to be preached to the whole world. At some point, and only God knows when the last person on earth will accept the Gospel, that war will break out after this point in time. Joel believes in the rapture, which means that all born-again Christians will be taken from the earth before the coming war, the 7yr tribulation. So don't shoot the messenger, he's just proclaiming the Good News, that you can be saved.

@npdimonte I voted up your comments because I agree with your assessment of Joels' comments. I also agree that all these things will take place in God's time. The last soul saved under the dispensation of grace is what I beleive will trigger the immediate removal or rapture of all church age beleivers, both living and dead.(1Thes.4:15-18). If I may I like to say twice you referred to the tribulation as a 7 year period. It is actually a 3+1/2 year period of great tribulation. God bless you .

You will notice that Joel said "in faith", because once the wars come you will know Gods wrath is upon the earth. You can come to Christ during this time, but you will have to ride out the 7yr Trib. So preaching the Gospel before this event, to change our hearts towards God, in faith, is what is meant by preaching the Gospel to the whole world. Its a free will choice, sadly, many will reject the Gospel. God is trying to get your attention because He loves you, hopefully it will happen today.

@npdimonte , There is no rapture or "removal from tribulation." God has allowed his people to go through tribulation throughout history. Look at the Exodus. God could have miraculously transported out of Egypt. Instead he "kept" them through the tribulation that came, and by which they were delivered. The same will be true at the end!

@WSGAC There is a difference between Old and New testament saints and the promise of the rapture is only for Christians. We experience tribulation now in the form of man and Satan, but during the trib, it will be God's wrath on the earth, which is why Christians will be raptured before that. Pray that you escape His wrath, see Luke 21 and notice v36. Also check out Rom 5:9, Eph 5:6 & 1Thes 5:9, key word here is wrath. Also Noah is a type of the rapture. Wish I had more room to write!

@npdimonte, True we are not children of wrath, but that does not mean we must be removed before God's wrath can fall. Revelation uses the Exodus as the event which instruct us about the future. The plagues of Egypt are "types" of the plagues/bowls/trumpets of God's wrath in Revelation. God did not remove his people from Egypt to pour out his wrath. The people of God were there in Egypt while wrath fell. But god "kept" his people from his wrath, while striking Pharaoh and the Egyptians.

@WSGAC Note the progress of protection from wrath, blood of lamb on door frame, Noah's ark, Abraham praying for Lot and only when Lot and his family was remove from Sodom did God send down His Wrath. The Church is the bride of Jesus and the love of the groom would not allow His bride to be part of His wrath, Lot is a great example of being removed before the coming wrath. May I suggest, to all, studying the biblical Jewish wedding, the biblical pre-trib rapture beautifully mirrors this.

@npdimonte , I once told a Pre-trib-rapture believer that the blessed hope of Christians is the Second Coming of Christ and not the rapture! He replied, "You cannot separate the two!" I then replied, "Then why do you?"

The apostle Paul had a perfect opportunity to correct the Thessalonian fear that they'd missed the day of the Lord. He answered that the day wouldn't come until the man of lawlessness be revealed. He should have said the day hadn't come because you would have been raptured!

The 2nd coming will be similar in the first in that He will return to earth, however, at the rapture Jesus will be in the clouds, and the bride (church) will be taken up. The marriage super will commence and last for 7yrs, at the end of the 7yrs, which will be the end of the Trib, Jesus will return with His bride to end the tribulation. Find a messianic Jew who knows the OT, your eyes will open as did mine. Maranatha!
