If you enjoy Mike's slick videos, his awesome production and quality facility then you should understand that the more money in his pocket means the better quality lessons for us. Not to mention, this video is over 1.5 years old. Mike sure seems like he hasn't changed much to me. I get what you're saying, but endorsements for guys like him are a good thing. Heck, if they came out with a MJ body wash, I'd buy it to support the dude.

I'm a fan of most of his video's, but If the sweep has no musical aplication why try to fit into a groove? It doesn't even work over that track at the end. In my opinion if it has no musical aplication why bother?

I'm so bummed that you missed the part of the vid where I explained why I enjoy this lick. The main reason is because it's fun. Having fun and goofing around with dumb licks like this are what makes us be able to put true focus into the important aspects of drumming like groove, feel, time, and versatility. I hope ya understand where I'm coming from.

I guess I just try and look for something that I can apply musically, and actually the more I think about it I think that it can be applied musically, in the right situation ofcourse. Anyway, I hope I didn't sound like I was ragging on you, cus I am a fan and I have gotten a lot out of your lessons. I just didn't get much use out of this one personally I guess and that's okay, can't please everyone all the time! haha.

@lildondon29 i think it works pretty nicely with the track at the end. if i wasn't watching this video and heard that track somewhere with that lick incorporated, i'd be like, "oh shit, time to rewind that." i think as a drummer that has true passion for his craft and doesn't only look at drumming as a source of income should always learn cool licks. like mike said, it's just fun.

@inimicalODDITY Well, it's all a matter of opinion isn't it? Personally I think the fill sounds rushed and cluttered at the end of the track. That's not to say that I don't think the fill wouldn't work in another situation though. I think passion for any instrument goes WAY beyond learning a cool lick. I have an enormous amount of passion for my instrument and It's obvious Mike does too. I just didn't like the fill that much man, to each their own I say.

@RA710 Wow...People are still commenting on this?! It was only my point of view by the way, and I'm entitled to it. I can do a 9 stroke roll, and I do think it's important to explore different possibilities on the kit, my opinion is it sounds cluttered played so fast. I don't need to try and learn this exercise to have fun playing, I have fun playing other things that I enjoy. It all depends where your to in your playing at the time, and I'm not interested in that exercise right now.
